    posted a message on Mythical Beings Mod [1.8] Tons of crazy new mobs!

    Hey everyone thanks for the nice comments so far. I'm leaving my own comment as a loose representation of how we function as a group working on this mod, and where some of our thoughts have come from.


    In the beginning we added a few items and mobs before we really even had an idea of what we wanted the mod to be.


    Then, we decided we wanted our efforts to be focused on mythical creatures. Not just made up stuff, but the urban legend type monsters we found most interesting


    We also wanted to include different real-world cultures, to maintain a nice variety in what we added.


    As we come up with mobs to add one of the most important things we do before we make it, is to try our best to add a function as well. It's not very fun to just add in a model that spawns somewhere in your world, and give it a vanilla drop. Whether it is a camouflaging monster or someone who shyly follows you around, only to hide when you get near, we try to add gameplay and or thematic elements to all of our creatures. This is also a good way to annoy our coder, because we come up with grandiose plans and make him find a way to code it in.


    Then, we decided to add in player classes. This is an element of the mod I am personally most excited about, but it still needs to be fleshed out as it is in its early stages. As this was first being implemented, we also decided to go with the theme, and select some of the pre-existing mobs to become more fleshed out. We have added in custom villages with npc's and exclusively traded commodities. As of now the elves and dwarves are able to be traded with, and will spawn in custom villages. Several more village(r) types are planned.


    Thank you all for reading this wall of text, even though we have a good deal completed already we have a lot of plans for the future, and thank you for the continued support. No release date planned right now. Once it is however, and we stop focusing on adding new content, I believe we do plan on updating the mod to newer versions of minecraft.

    Ok so I am teaching myself how to create a mod by looking at a bunch of different sources as well as looking at the code given to me when I use the program MCreator.     I'd like to apply for a mod position, and I say this so boldly because you know me Hany :P
    I run my own server with plugins, have played minecraft since the initial original release, and I'm a respectful player. I can also build generally well (nothing epic), use the "normal" plugins on servers, and help out anyone with problems either using plugins or just regular minecraft things. So idk why I'm saying all this it generally goes to if you are a good person or not in the owner's eyes so HANY!, please make me a mod (or admin ;D)

    EDIT: Since you used my "UP" logo I deserve at least mod position hahaha

    Well I am on a mac (10.4.11) do you know of a way to simply update my java? Or since mac, I believe, has its own different version of java will it not be possible?

I cannot even play on FAST Graphics, NO Particles, and SMALL Render Distance, and ANY Performance without exceptionally high amounts of framerate lag. I cannot figure out what the issue is, especially since I am able to run MUCH more intense and demanding games with no problem at all.
