posted a message on Can you have some part of a model only show in the gui and another part only show in mainhand?

You can make a model with 2 faces, you flip the model in the left hand and not in the right hand or vice versa.

It would be even clever to create half-models for both sides that look like completely different items when their outline doesn't match up with each other.

posted a message on can you add overrides to base files like generated.json?

Theoretically, it should be possible, because overrides links to another model.

The condition you set for the item should also be available for the item, else it will not work for that item, but should still work with what you're already using.

It will also only work on items that have in its long parents family have item/generated at its root, so any item with a 2D look.

Note: If a target item is something like grass or fern, don't give it another item/generated model just to change the texture, because builtin/generated gives grass and fern tintindex on all layers and therefore tints all of the textures green or dark green; better to use a self-made 2D surface model or an entirely new model.

posted a message on Help please, I am trying 2 find all the wooden plank textures in 16x16 yet cant find them.

Why go to an external site, when you can look into your game files and have them version-specific ready to copy.

Windows: Search with the keyword %appdata%, open .minecraft.

    Linux: IDK

Mac: Was it something like /bin/?

Minecraft: Open Minecraft, go to your resource packs selection screen in the options menu and click on open resource packs folder and go up a folder.

In .minecraft, go to versions, open the version folder of your choice, (that you have downloaded with the launcher) right-click the jar file, and open as zip. In the zip, you can see the assets folder, that is what you are looking for, there is everything inside, the folder structure, original textures that novaskin is not allowed to distribute, and original text files.

posted a message on Gap In Between Layers of the Texture

These are almost invisible pixels, probably created in photoshop or somewhere else.

I recommend using Paint.NET, but because it is freeware and I know how to use it. (I heard GIMP is almost the same)

"gap" can be fixed by using the selection tool, mark everything that is the texture, you can press Ctrl to add more areas, and Alt to remove selected areas.

Once you select everything that is part of the texture, you go to the top left of the screen and find the selection tool option "XOR" and select the whole canvas, this will select everything except the texture you selected beforehand.

Next up, you can do 2 things, I recommend to use the blue mouse tool to drag the selection out of the canvas, you can also cut it out, but this will also write it into your clipboard.

"thick" "thin" is part of the item models, you can change the values of an item's display tag, just save and hit F3+T to reload your resource packs.

"thin" however is so thin, it could be a plane with the texture on it, it may replace a tint-index item to properly show other colors unlike a shade of green. If this is the case, you can try to model it a bit thick, but it will take so much work for a single item.

posted a message on text to another line - name of item in lang folder.

Then it just doesn't work however you try.

You could summon the item with lore and have the stats show when you hover over it, but it is only a solution for single player and custom maps, but you could still use translate inside lore.

Use \n that's the command for newline in most texts.

posted a message on Is it possible to add an overlay to a leaf texture that isn't subject to the biome grayscale/recolor?

    I would solve it differently:

    1. Create a block model that has its faces slightly larger than the normal cube and assign your fruit texture to it. (like 0.01 in all directions)

    2. Turn the leaves blockstates file from a state file to a multiblock file by making the first entry not require anything and the second entry have the fruits appear as a chance.

Pros: Using the blockstates files of the 6 leaves you won't have to make 6 leaves models with the fruit texture on it and can even use the existing fruit model as a parent for more fruit textures, you can randomize the fruit orientation separately to the leaves orientation.

Cons: When you are unfamiliar with multiblocks, it might be a bit hard to get through the redstone or glass pane blockstates for reference. Start at the fence.

posted a message on is it possible to make a mob with their arms beside their sides

It is possible using a modification like Optifine, but outright saying is impossible (implying not even with a modification) is just wrong.
