I decompiled all the jar files and didn't edit a single one of them, but I keep getting errors in Eclipse for these 2 files, ClassInheritanceMultiMap.java and JsonSerializableSet.java.
Errors:
public class ClassInheritanceMultiMap<T> extends AbstractSet<T>
public class JsonSerializableSet extends ForwardingSet<String> implements IJsonSerializable
Is anyone else getting these 2 files as errors? I can run the game, but when I create a world the game crashes.
That's because of Steam, to do this, Minecraft would have to be on Steam or have something similar to it's workshop, and also I doubt this'd raise mod compatibility and lower mod conflicts, seeing as it'd just be a way to install mods, maps, etc easier. And they're not added seperately, they're still in the game.
What I meant by "added separately" is that it doesn't modify the game's code, and that it's "added separately" as in ex. placed in a mods folder.
For those who don't understand or know what I'm talking about, look at Garry's mod or Space Engineers.
These games use addons, which are added-on separately and let you play on servers with other addons, even if you don't have the addons already installed.
Minecraft uses mods, which are modifications of the game's actual code. Mods are fused into the game's files so it's impossible to download mods from a server.
With addons, you can download them when joining a server because they are not in the game itself and are added-on separately.
Similar to Garry's mod, Space Engineers or any other game that uses addons, you download them when joining a server because they do not conflict with the actual game files themselves and are separately added-on to the game.
- An addon is like a mod, It adds new features to the game. However, an addon does not conflict with minecraft's files. Instead, addons are separately added to the game, without modifying the game itself.
Upsides
- Better mod compatibility
- Less mod oonflicts
- Modded servers would work with vanilla clients, vice versa
Downsides
- Mods and Server clients would need to be updated

Apparently, Minecraft Wiki doesn't have this. All it says is temperature and surface layers

Yes.
Sorry, I haven't posted on this board before until now.

Lots of games use Modding APIs.
It wouldn't be that much work adding one to the game; the devs could either make their own or use a pre-existing API like Minecraft Forge, etc.

Basically.

@Meissmart
You can't add things like new blocks, items or mobs using plugins.
