posted a message on Changing the NPC's a little.

Hey guys. I posted this thread because, I hate the look of NPC's! I realy don't think they should look like tanned squidwards! I think they should look like ACTUAL PEOPLE! Anyone agree?

    Sure, agreed.

posted a message on Flooded caves
Underwater lighting and underwater hostiles are essential for this.

Since wandering around with almost no light, and nothing to fight, would be more of a hindrance than something nice.

Flooded caves are a nice idea but they need to be more than just caves filled with water.

posted a message on Ender Pearls
If you didn't take damage from them then they would be ultimately better than any other mode of transportation in the game.

They add that damage so you use them in moderation.

But I think adding an enchantment to neutralize the damage caused by Enderjumping would be nice, as opposed to all fall damage...then again the fall damage enchantment might cover that already?

Because this is Minecraft. The most high-tech thing in the game is redstone. A radio/iPod just wouldn't go right with the game.

If it's too advanced for Minecraft, then clearly make a Minecraft version.

Redstone with a few pieces of wood in a compass shape should suit the needs of the regular Minecraftian music listener.

an RDMP (Redstone Disc Music Player) would be kind of nice.

Logical? no. But neither is floating dirt or zombies.

posted a message on Customizable door keys?
Being able to add password-related tags hidden in the code of the key would be more suitable. Creating a key on the Crafting Bench, with the tag "Door1", meant it could only open the designated named door. You could share the name "Door1" with other people so they can also make keys to open said door.

That way if you lose the key you will always make another to avoid the hassle of destroying the door, the key, and recreating all of it.

posted a message on Soul Sand negates Fall Damage
It seems reasonable. Rather than lining pits with water and risk getting it everywhere or having to place ladders while you fall, or even trying to build downwards, you could simply put a patch of Soul Sand down and when you fell, it would negate the fall damage like water does.

it's just him listing a bunch of retarded ideas

It's her, not him. But whatever.

Please try to do something on this thread other than whine, ***** and moan about what I said. If you don't like it, then stop being offended and try to make an RPG idea that doesn't blackhole into all of the crap that makes people so reluctant from agreeing with the idea. Unless you never planned to make one at all and are only here to....whine?

This thread has been stickied, if it had been left to die it's proper death like all other suggestions not worth looking at then there would be no need for people to point out the flaws anymore. It is stickied though, so it sits on the front page and continues to draw either admiration or attack as people try to argue their point. No need to call them assholes for it.

Pointing out flaws in a statement does not completely invalidate a statement. It does not work in absolutes, and there is no "contest" to win behind pointing out things that are subjectively incorrect. The Moderators stickied this thread to redirect all of the flaming, bitching, moaning and spam about RPG ideas here rather than let it spill out everywhere.

Also, there were a few people who were discussing this with good points, but some people are using subjectivity vs. subjectivity, but are disillusioned into a state where "My opinion is better, and yours is now invalid" when either way they should not care that much for it and simply state they don't think of RPGs that way. Hell, they shouldn't even be throwing a ****ing RPG Purist riot about this thread when it could easily just be taken lightly.

The main thing I was trying to address was all of the threads being made where people would post hundreds of lists of information on how to make Minecraft more like Final Fantasy I, or Runescape, or World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy VII or Fire Emblem or D&D or Pathfinder or Oblivion or Fallout and over-inflate it so much with problematic systems that it eventually became almost pointless to read. Minecraft is it's own game. As fun as it would be to fuse two games you like together there is a lot of **** you have to account for before doing that.

You COULD go with Oblivion, where you CAN do EVERYTHING, and skills really only improve your performance, but are not necessarily "required."

That would be a better alternative to the linear Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger things everyone keeps suggesting or the over-convoluted D&D Ultimate Expanded Super-universal Fantasy style that others go on about.

The fanwhoring of those two categories tend to get out of control, because they try to "defend" their pet games so viciously.

TL;DR: Don't force people to do things that WASTES THEIR ****ING TIME.

You should probably change this so it doesn't sound as inflammatory. Probably to something kind of like this.

Don't let a series of collective numbers decide how far you want to go in a game, or how long it will take to get there.

Since most RPGs (I SAID MOST, SO PLEASE DON'T ***** AT ME FOR THIS) RELY on the limitations of the EXP and Level system to allow a different avenue of gameplay. Since with practice you can burn through most levels with muscle memory and end the game without a seconds though, the EXP system is an active element and a boundary that you must manage to allow you to continue fighting most enemies. Since the game generally doesn't require you to push a series of buttons or memorize movement patterns to win, it forces you to increase levels to be able to be strong enough to defeat a strong enemy.

It's a sequencing mechanism to make people think they are accomplishing more than they actually are via collective numbers.

Everyone feels good when numbers go up, right? Thats where the stimulation from this aspect forms.

Good idea, I should update the OP.

....don't right click with the compass then?
