posted a message on Nether Portal frames
    Quote from Demopan

I think it would be pretty awesome if just any frame of obsidian created a portal, no matter how large, small, or strangely shaped. I know many a frustrated architect struggling to implement portals into bases based on odd-number measurement. It could also be used to make larger and more showy portals for portal rooms, 1x1 windows for decoration, or whatever your imagination can conjure!

It's mostly the generation issues behind them since portals smaller than a 3x2 frame tend to cause generation problems in the Nether and making reverse portals (that cause you to spawn into a portal "window" which suffocates and kills you.)

also, if u dsownrep, you would need to fill out a reason why, and one of those capthca things

Seems reasonable by definition, but unreasonable by application. The reasons will probably be very bad, and many captchas can be faked.

Even if there was a public name attached to the neg, it's not worth the trouble that could be put behind it since the whole "revenge neg" thing will occur.

    Quote from Greenis Creepis

Craft-able teacup set, brew some tea. Set the table. Ring a peace bell. Mobs go into friendly mode and flock for teatime. When they least suspect it, you attach them to your torture rack.

I don't know, shooting them with a Bow and Arrow seems more suitable than a torture rack, or drinking tea.

The closest one can get to downvoting is not voting at all. Downvoting would lead to spite-negs and revenge-negs.

Considering Enchantments fix almost all the issues with Diamond Armor's breakability, I don't see the need for Redstone Armor.

posted a message on Natural disaster for the next version
How could you not spell the word "suggestions" correctly when it's the name of the subforum you are posting in?

Aside from that, randomly generated disasters are not as fun and realistic as you think they would be. Getting landscapes you built destroyed randomly on Survival mode causes a ton of problems with Water and Chunk generation, to the point where actively loaded chunks will be impossible to build or live in, and files will be ruined on an hourly schedule.

I have a better idea, a deadly mob that hunts newcomers to the forums, called the Searchbar. The Searchbar repeadedtly whacks itself over the head of anybody not smart enough to use it before posting.

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/986722-bison-graphic-included/

People would be on this forum asking the Searchbar to be nerfed or removed from the game with how many people would get hit violently with it. We wouldn't want that, or would be?

Searchbar would be a fun challenge but considering that I use it tentatively I would never be able to fight it...:<

posted a message on Wool Rebalance
In my opinion, this makes it way too easy to get an infinite supply of what should be a rare color of wool.

It's extremely convenient this way and means I won't have to dig constantly for Lapis to complete an above-ground Blue carpeted home, or grind for more magenta dye than I can possibly afford to settle for that color. Sure it's cheap and easy to get tons of, but it's...dyed wool. Being able to farm Blue Wool is about as "overpowered" as being able to farm Eggs from fenced chickens. It doesn't have a extremely destructive impact on the game considering it's solely cosmetic.

It makes sense and means you don't have to add new items to the game, but modify one you already have. I like this.

posted a message on A possibility of Giants being added to survival
Never understood why a Giant would be neutral. I can understand Endermen, but I can see a Giant trying to actively be hostile to you in the same manner as Skeletons and Zombies are.

I think they should have an increased hostility radius due to them being taller.

Like you said with the hitboxes, I think the hitting the Giant shouldn't cause the recoil to make it fly around, but rather just calculate the damage it took and continue it's action. There could still be the Single second Invinicibility moment to prevent damage clipping, and the hitbox shouldn't be geared towards it's bottom. Going one on one melee with a giant should put you at a disadvantage than an advantage to encourage more bow use since plenty of other mobs have melee be their weakpoint.

I think the classing "Stone Throw" giants would work wonders as well. While not throwing player-built blocks, they could grab natural blocks like Endermen do, but rather than just placing them around, can throw the object as a seperate-skinned entity, similar to a ghast fireball that would destroy weaker blocks. This would also encourage better building and zone out badly made pseudocreative files and actually make the "Build two block walls around everything to stop almost all mobs" strategy less effective and gear the player towards defensive style playing when it comes to mobs.

posted a message on Overpowered Food Crops
Now we have descended into the "what you use to fight off hunger is overpowered" state of the game, which is sad.

I do not agree that the Melon is overpowered (as funny as that terminology is, even though overbeneficial is the more correct term) this would imply it is a rampant problem within the game itself.

Melon Slices do well in being able to restore single hearts to keep regeneration up, but take more melons to accomplish this.

If you are able to keep a consistent farm up to the point where you are never starving, this isn't harmful to the balance of the game, it's called...well, surviving in survival mode.

Starving is the penalty for not using food items, but not something used to enforce difficulty into the game unless you neglect it.

    posted a message on ★★★ Waterfalls ★★★
    Quote from DontStealMyBacon

A while back notch said that water bodies would not all be located at y=65. And they arent. They are somewhere between 64 and 66. When I heard this I thought it would be some 30 block difference between water bodies, but nope. Sometimes we get a glitched pattern when the water level does down by one but thats it.

We need waterfalls that look something like this

    Picture from inHaze's custom world
    http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/custom-terrain-rainforest-valley/

With how the world chunk generation goes, these waterfalls may generate entire landscapes into ruin and flooding areas that the water never intended to be, also collapsing sand banks and what not. They look nice, but water blocks are unpredictable and can create tons of loading problems with how many steaming blocks are generated.
