The fan-bases for both of these arguments seems a tad bit immature. Feels like I'm reading a Stars weekly magazine or something...
Regardless of how this whole thing feels... I believe notch shouldn't have said what he said. I feel inclined to believe Notch was stressed and tired from the weekend. I also believe he is sorry, he may not have came out and said those words, but from his twitter post, I can slightly pick up on it.
As for the Yogscast, I'm not a big fan of there's...but am I going to label them as the bad guy who deserves to have there website dossed or what ever it is called? No. The fan bases both jumped the gun and attacked one another. When did two people's arguments become everyone's arguments? Granted this all started with a twitter post from Notch, but regardless...this mess needs to be handled by Yogscast and Notch alone, not by a witch hunt that seems to exist on both sides going after one another.
I say chill out...this argument doesn't involve us.

That's probably my fault. I try to keep the links above small but packed with as much information as possible. I can see how you could have missed that information, will do better in the future (on the list above i have it marked on Dec 10th)

You need to reply to the message then instead of making posts in forum discussion. If you feel something was unfair the first step is to always respond to the message.
That is in every rules reminder (I recently checked a rules reminder I had issued a few days ago). Respond and ask why you received it.
It does not effect your account negatively. It will never give you a suspension. It will never cause a disruption between any of the activities you participate in on the forum. All it serves is that you were given a reminder to a rule for the forum. If you happen to "accidentally" break the same rule again, a judgment call will have to be made by the moderator. If you catch it yourself, you can report your own post with no negative action taken against you, unless you (not saying you in particular, just in general) abuse that system.

That doesn't say anything to what you're assuming it is saying. The comment came from the video trailer for the 1.6.4 update to consoles that was posted on the Microsoft systems.
"I sure hope so. Working with the Sony stuff!" could mean working on a separate trailer for the Sony consoles, since Sony still going over it for Certification. That was also posted the day of the release. 4J has also just mentioned yesterday that they are still waiting to hear back from Sony.
Also, wanted to point out that Kappische doesn't work for 4J.

Akynth made some good points on what type of people to watch for if you're looking for a serious server to play on.
I'd also like to note that our requirements for Servers have been dramatically lowered since the Minecraft has came to console versions. It's been an up and downhill battle since Xbox360 just how to layout Multiplayer.
Things to keep note on:
We are very much open for suggestions! Just remember, like Akynth said, a rating system isn't really the fix the section needs.
This to keep in mind:

Warning = No points. Formal Warnings = points.
As a regular moderator viewing past warning history is part of what we are supposed to do before taking an action on a rule breaking post.
Questions we need to ask ourselves.
1. Is this their first occurrence of breaking a rule?
If yes, they should receive a warning and be directed to the rules. If no, they should receive a formal warning.
2. Is the post breaking a new rule that was just implemented?
If yes, they should be directed to the new rule but no formal warning should be given. If no, warning or a formal warning.
3. Have they been warned for this type of post before?
If the answer is yes, they should be receiving a formal warning, there shouldn't be a warning after the member has already been told those type of posts are unacceptable. If no, they should be receiving a warning.
4. Has this member had multiple warnings for this same rule breaking post?
If the answer is yes, again, the member in question is obviously not understanding the point of "this is not acceptable", so either the member should be receiving a harsher warning, or should be advised from an Admin on what action to take. If the answer is no see questions 3.
I can only speak for myself when I speak about nosing around warnings.
I could honestly care less if you, or another person has warnings. If the only time I do "snoop" is when I'm reading the Forum Discussion section and a member is outraged by a warning they received claiming that they didn't do this or that. I can check the post to see what they are talking about, as most of the time we are only given the member's own view of the situation.
If I can see the user is lying can I reply telling him so? Sadly no. So we have to sit and watch a thread's one sided view get tossed out there because our policy is to not discuss a member's warning history. If the member wants to offer up the information himself, then we can discuss it as they chose to openly discuss it themselves.
Onto your point about Moderators being biased towards a member because of their history. The Moderator in question shouldn't be dealing with the user if they have bias with them. If you, or anyone feels they have a Moderator that is being biased, or targeting a member it is always encouraged to talk to the Moderator's Admin. You can find the Admin that is over them on the Staff List pinned to the top of this forum, and for ease of access, linked at the bottom on this post.
As a counter argument for not being allowed to see a member's warning history or current points, I can give you this.
There are hundreds and thousands of members making posts every day in all the different sections on the forum. Some areas are more active then others, and there are new members signing up every day. The staff does not offset this balance either. If we cannot see a member's past warnings (which mind you we can't see PM conversations for the warnings), how would we keep track of if this person was just warned for this post or not?
The member may end up getting multiple warnings for the same post.
Another issue would be there would be no more "slap on the wrists", and all members would be receiving a formal warning for every post.
Let's tie in the above issue, with multiple warnings. Moderators do not hand out posting bans. The warning system automatically does this after a member receives their second point. Multiple points given to a user for a broken rule multiple times would cause the system to place a ban on the user from posting. Admins would then have to review all of the warnings that were given for the post, removing the point, removing the ban, and writing an apology to the members that are affected by the multiple points.
The last point I can bring up is abuse. Members already abuse the system now in a way to not receive an automatic ban (and I wont be saying how it's done). If Moderators were not able to see past warnings, and members used this, then they can play to that system.
"Well I didn't know that was a rule!" (we already hear this, seeing this with your suggestion wont change that.
We can't sit there and question if the users actually knows or not. Unless that specific moderator dealt with that user and warned them before for that post, there is no way to know if that member is lying to us or not.

*edit
Hopefully we will be seeing it before the Holiday as it's in testing now with Sony.
