Nope. Just because I think this is reasonable doesn't mean I work for that company.

This all may be true, but it still doesnt change anything about the fact that this reporting system does in fact have many flaws and that its, from my point of view, totally unnecessary.
Nobody has a real use of this except maybe Microsoft who are getting to read and save the online chats.
No system is without flaws.
Again, weve seen it on Bedrock where the Mojang staff deliberately accepted false positive bans and they didnt even tell you what you were banned for, or that you could even appeal your ban at all.
I fear that this is going to be the vase in Java as well.
Again I can only echo the same response as before, there will always be flaws, there will be human error, and you can't expect 100% accuracy. You can appeal if you or anyone receive a suspension or ban. I linked directly to the Case Review as well as showed an image of where you can find it at the bottom of every Help Center page.
Yeah, but then arises the question:
Why now, 7 years later???
Why suddenly enforce all of this now in a time, where Mojang is already on a downward spiral with the quality of their Java updates for the game and have disappointed the community in the past few major update(s) and the quality of Minecraft Bedrock edition with major bugs simply being refused to fix.
I don't know the actual answer to this question as neither this forum nor I work for Mojang Studios or Microsoft. However, I can give an educated guess based on recent updates across both Bedrock/JAVA versions of the game.
Mojang Studios has been trying to unify each version of the game to work together. Why JAVA may only now be getting any kind of moderation may be because of this.
I haven't heard this outlandish outcry of players being unhappy about the latest updates. As for major bugs in Bedrock, Bedrock gets consistent updates that clean up and continue to fix bugs there. If a bug hasn't been fixed it means they haven't either found the actual cause of the issue or haven't been able to reproduce the bug that has been reported to fix.
Keep in mind, that you do not have to like that the Player Report feature has been added to the game, but the minority of the community that has been crying out has been exaggerating at best. That is my honest opinion about all of this hoopla.

Your example for showing how Player 2 can get banned would probably not actually get banned. When submitting a report, while you can select only that single message, there are additional chat logs sent that you did not select for whoever is going to review the report to view for context.
As for mass reporting, there was no mention in the official article from Mojang that a player would get auto-banned after so many reports.
As for the rest, regardless of whatever had happened Minecraft was sold to Microsoft by Notch over seven years ago. While Microsoft has kept their hands off the development of the game and left that with Mojang Studios to determine, they, meaning Minecraft, is still a Microsoft property and needs to follow the same guidelines as all their other titles when it comes to multiplayer and communications.

I do think that like some of the comments have said sometimes you do need to do a respawn, but do you have to word it as 'just respawn and you will get your stuff back if you slept at your bed' and avoid the 'kill yourself' as it will be taken out of context more often than not.
Will this also only apply to multiplayer? Say I need to use text and I'm in singleplayer to demonstrate something and say 'you need to kill yourself to respawn' on a sign, or in chat or something does it count then (I assume more so multiplayer but still you never know how far these things can do and it would be like setting up a hardcore world to lock you out on a regular world).
I think the biggest thing here to consider is actually context. There is a giant difference to tell someone to kill themselves in the game to respawn compared to telling someone to actually kill themselves to put an actual end to their physical life.
For now, I'm choosing to believe that the additional chat log for context will be able to tell what the context for "kill yourself" would be.
As far as single/multi-player I believe it would apply for both since Minecraft is a property of Microsoft now and their terms would apply regardless, but from the sounds of it, it is not an auto-report system. This means someone has to report the chat to have it reviewed in the first place. -

Where exactly did I lie? I'm honestly trying to see what you are talking about but I can't see what you're seeing.
Also as a side note, we have nothing to do with Mojang Studios or Microsoft. Getting upset with me does nothing honestly.

Like every Snapshot it is best to open in a new world instead of an existing one unless you have a backup in case the file itself gets corrupted.

Later this Summer. Reviewing my wording I wasn't very clear that those owning Minecraft currently will need to wait for when Mojang releases the bundled deal later this summer. Fixed it for clarity.

The latest article that includes a Java update is the one for 1.16.2 (I'm not counting the experimental snapshots), and it was months ago. Since then, there have been 11 updates (both for 1.16 and 1.17 snapshots). As far as I can tell, all the Bedrock updates and other general Mojang news has been brought here, so I was just asking why Java seems to be neglected at the moment.
Again, family has taken most of my time from the forums. If I was around that day and any release was released in the last day or two I updated. Those days just aligned with non-java releases.
I missed a lot of releases for both Java and Bedrock since August when I was unable to post regularly,

I normally write articles when I have time. The holidays and family have taken most of my time where I'm now finally able to sit back and have some free time again for the forums beyond looking at appeals and attempting to remove spam when I see it.

Nov 7, 2020KioriBug posted a message on JAVA Account Migration: What You Need to KnowPosted in: News
So today I had to relog, there was a screen with a button for me to click in order to update my account. I'm assuming this was the merging account thing. I went ahead and did it because I couldn't get past that screen in order to log in and play.
But when I logged in, there was no free cape? When I went to the skin edit area....no cape there either.
How and when do we get the capes? Is this going to be something that is rewarded after all the merges are done? When reading the article it seemed that once you made the move and log in, you would have your free cape.
I'm confused.
https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360050865492-Minecraft-Java-Edition-Account-Migration-FAQ
Accounts that get the notification to Migrate can do so. The cape may be something available later when more accounts have migrated? When I can find any information to confirm I will update but for now just wait patiently. - To post a comment, please login.

You can report those DMs.
Essentially it's the latest "herobrine" type spam that is being spread around right now, same with "codeman".

There cannot be dashes in usernames. Underscores are okay. The only one available was the last one you listed.

There is a simple answer. I don't have the time as I once did. My time here is volunteer work and I don't have a lot of free time at the moment to give. When I am able to I do try to put something up which just happened to be a few days ago.

Mods will not come to consoles. What is available for the console is through Minecraft's Marketplace.

Mojang Studios does not have an official forum website. They have their feedback website for that. This website was created by a fan of the game.

Magic Find, the Company that now owns us, and the previous owners, Fandom, are American Companies. The rest of this statement however is correct.
If Vattic returns they can submit a request via our support email to try and recover his account. If we can, thread recovery would come later.

Just to clarify what you are asking, are you referring to the header that contains "Forum", "Latest Post", "Threads", and "Posts", or "Recent Updates and Snapshots" along with the latest thread responded to, to the right?
If its neither of these you are referring to could you provide a screenshot, if possible, so I can be sure to understand what you are asking?

Asking them to not post is futile sadly as they are only interested in sharing the link and not actually being a member of the forums.
The people posting those are not always bots, but people who were led to believe that they would make money by sharing videos here via spam youtube videos on "how to get rich". We catch a lot of these, but if we miss any please help by using the Report Button below their posts.

Greetings all!
A lot has changed over the years. We, the staff, have been discussing changes for the forum for a while now. We have many changes and a list of things we would love changed on the forum but require a bit more work than just a flip of a switch or a line changed in the backend code. For now, we'd like to start off with something that will get the ball moving to prepare for future changes.
It's no secret that we are extremely strict, and going forward we'd like to ease up and foster a better relationship between moderation and members. So for starters, I'll list a few things that are in discussion.
We'd love to hear your feedback and will be taking everyone's opinions and suggestions into consideration. We'd love to discuss everyone's thoughts on what needs adjusting, what people think should be removed, or even if there is something members would like added to the rules going forward.
I'd like to add information and add points which you all have been making. I may not have everyone's exact wording but a lot of suggestions were similar. Those have been combined and are as followed as below:
Regarding Servers
Regarding Bumping
Regarding Profanity

After your account reaches 10 posts the automatic filter should ease up on you. Your posts are not marked as spam now but I did remove a duplicate thread due to your attempt to repost.
If you have any further issues message a member of staff. We are always happy to help.

I'd like to add that the forum has no setting that blocks a member from posting on an active thread. Claiming that we purposely blocked you from posting on a thread is something that is impossible. If it is open (not locked) anyone is able to respond to the thread. If you had posts removed without requests there are times we do remove posts.
Circumstances are as followed:
1. Member requests a post to be deleted/or post breaks forum rules. If someone replied/quoted this post we normally try to remove posts that quote/respond to the post. No warnings are issued.
2. The entire thread has been requested to be deleted/breaks forum rules.
3. Possibly a site error as they are not too uncommon around here, but generally will correct themselves.
4. If a post you created breaks forum rules but is not recent we would still remove rule-breaking threads/posts but not warn. We're strict here, but we're not so strict we will warn you from a few weeks ago.
Edited to add a point for an exception to 4.

The Server Recruitment section is for Server Owners to find staff. This is not a section for anyone to find a builder or developer for a personal project. This section has never been for individuals to share their personal application for server owners to respond to with their own thread. There is a fundamental difference with a staff owner recruiting developers, builders, moderators, ect for their server and individuals creating a post stating that they are a builder looking to build on a server ect. The individual may even be a representative of a group offering their skills to server owners but that makes little difference in the point of the section.
This is why the rule is phrased the way it is.
To summarize quickly above:

What is Not Allowed
