This is so appropriate for this thread.

When I was younger I played leaf green and got a Magikarp to lv.80. One day I let a friend play and (doesn't it seem like everytime someone says this it's bad) and he said he helped me out with my Magikarp and I was like "Wow you made it go up a level!" And he was like "Nope I gave it waterstone".

    Quote from Acetyl

Yeah, thats right! We're the good guys, so lets go kill them bad guys. They don't have families, they don't have emotions. They're evil, they're just bad guys. They're just scum. Hey, they just don't matter. We can even shovel all the dead civilian bodies into mass graves. Pretty convenient, huh? Those Nazi holocaust bastards were all evil to. We should have instituted a german genocide, they all clearly aren't to be trusted, thats the only sure way to stop future holocausts. Same with those soviet characters too, not sure I trust them not to ICBM us.

Maybe we'll even have some michael bay explosions in the background, while I parachute out of a plane, single handedly raid the al qaeda base, get the girl, and simultaneously screw her while killing bin laden.

This is murrica! You gotta empathise with the good guys. The other side is clearly just scum. Them charlies, and Jerrys, and commies too. Just scum.

    Thats pretty close minded, eh?

I never said I supported revenge, or that suspecting people to be threats was a good idea. Your absolutely right we have no business going into other countries over revenge or for peace, that is wrong. I said that we should instead remember 9/11 in order stop further attacks, not attack and control countries, that is wrong. In the same way the world is taught to remember the holocaust, we should remember terrorist attacks in order to prevent them.
The reason I said we should remember is because the OP said that it was not worth remembering after 11 years. But it really is worth remembering the same way I remember seeing the Mumbai attacks on television. But I'll be honest when those happened 200 people died and it served a greater purpose in the east the same way 9/11 should serve in the west. As a reminder that this can happen and we should try to prevent it. Even more so We must remember this argument is not over the war but whether or not we should remember terrorist attacks.
I can understand you thinking it was over the war because of that side note I added that was wrong of me and I apologize to anyone out there in a basement making bombs with bath soap and gasoline. But seriously anyone who would take innocent lives for ideas of intolerance is not good. Now you could turn this around and say the U.S. dropped a pretty big bomb on some innocent people some 70 years ago, but that was not over intolerance, sure those people didn't deserve to die and it was awful that they did and to honest there's no way to justify what we did either other than the typical "They wouldn't surrender".
All in all you still didn't answer the original question, should events like terrorist attacks and genocides be remembered in order to help the next generation of this planet not do it. Or should we repress these moments and save peoples time and innocence?

It is very rude to say that. Empathy should be given before introducing your opinion, you come off very self-oriented and close minded, this is real a event and people died. The same way we remember the holocaust we should remember this, so that we can make sure it never happens again and try to stop further terrorist (aka scum of the earth) attacks and holocausts.

You'll be fine, just be careful when you do it, during a conversation it can drive people insane. I constantly am told to stop doing it when I'm talking with a freind.
