posted a message on Tinkering! (No, its not voltz)
    Quote from 0_Zippy

The name "tinkering table" is very... silly. It's very unbalanced, because it costs 4 experience levels just to alter the aesthetics of something. While you can get a mediocre enchantment/give a small durability boost to a tool for just 1 level. And to change the aesthetics of an item, it could just use up some dye while possibly using a crafting table to do it, instead of implementing a whole new type of crafting table just to change the color/look of things. No support.

Alright, I understand and respect your opinion, but I think I should just tidy a few things up. First of all, you are very right about the level cost, I think that is reasonable, and so reducing the number of levels to 1 is a very good idea indeed, I see that now. But I believe just using dye on a crafting bench somehow remover the 'flavour' from the whole thing. Also, it removes the effort. THese items are not meant to be used to 'build with,' but simply to admire and use in specialist circumstances. You clearly use your levels entirely for clear benefits, which I understand, but we are very different types of players clearly.

So here is my idea: why not add another way of creating new items from old ones that isn't crafting? However this method of crafting requires only one item (and a few levels to spare). Before I say much more let me just make it clear how you could go about doing this:

    :Logs^: :Logs^: :Logs^:
:Skeleton: :Skeleton: :Skeleton: (The Skeleton Heads are cobblestone)
    :Skeleton: :Skeleton: :Skeleton:

    = A tinkering Table (or bench) ^_^

Here's how you it works. You plonk your item down in the one hole available on the bench. Now, like crafting, most of the things you throw in it won't do anything. But let's say you happen to put a jack-o-lantern in and it comes up with a result.

It will tell you that you need to give it, lets say, 4 levels. Then, after you tinker it, the item will change. The most important thing about tinkering is that it changes nothing but the aesthetic, e.g. the way it looks. So, although he item you have created will behave exactly the same as a jack-o-lanters (same light properties, durability etc.) it will look different, lets say it has a new face on it. What this does is open up a whole bunch of new options as to new items.

I really hope you like the idea, and, in some of my time, I came up with a few variations that you could do with the tinkering table.

Jack-O-Lantern - New Face for the lantern
Boat - Boat is darker in colour, possibly even a sail?
    Book - Leather becomes red
    Rose - Becomes Cyan
Stone Brick Block - Becomes chiselled stone bricks
    Flower Pot - Becomes black
    Redstone Lamp - Becomes White
Tinkering Table Itself! - Changes look (don't yet know what it will look like in the first place!)

And hopefully many more. In the comments, please tell me what you think if the idea, and how I can, of course, improve it. Also I would like to hear your suggestions for possible tinkers!

I really like this idea and think it could work. People are either claiming it to be UP or OP, I think it is neither. Its gonna cost you a whopping 31 diamonds, nearly half a stack, so its not exactly gonna be something that you can just throw together. I think this would be really good for mapmakers, and a new goal for those that like to show off their survival worlds. I totally support, and think this is a very 'neat' and tidy idea.

Love the idea, on one condition. Personally, I think just naming items would be sort of useless, unless when givin to another player. If you could name items, and then no one else couls rename it, it would do to things. 1: name your sword Excalibur and what not and others could use your awsome sword :) 2: give items a sense of belonging and allow you to show that a griefer has taken an item of yours. Without this continues name sort of function, it looks cool, but doesn't really have any other function. In my opinion. Great concept!

That was the intention. I could name my diamond block 'KingOfThePixies' Diamond Block.' Nobody can rename items, once they're named they're named. Stating the item's owner would be one of the primary uses.

Hmmm. A a df player myself, I think this is not the way forward. I have seen things like this don win tekkit, and I have comet o the collusion that it doesn't really work in mine craft. DF has far more emphasis on large-scale building and projects. Water in minecraft is mostly used for small-scale contraptions etc. THis would create too much lag also, and would ruin a lot of machines. I think water does need some updates, but not like this.

posted a message on Altar- updated! New effects!
I really like the idea of an alter, and I like the crafting recipe and what it does. I have a problem with the book though, I think it would be better if it was simply any written book (or just a plain old book). You could give offerings in exchange for powers (e.g. health, regen, speed). But I like the idea of doing something with the churches...

    Quote from Debugman18

Dinnerbone has already implemented NBT tags to rename items. It's not doable in survival yet, but Dinnerbone reacted well to a suggestion to add the ability to rename items in-game through the use of lecterns.

I just noticed that now. I think it is a start, but I really think that implementing it in survival would be how to really make this 'pop'. Being able to go to some lengths (downloading mcedit, downloading filters, using the filters etc.) is just too much of a pain! Why not put something like this into the everyday game...

posted a message on Crafting Idea: Name Tags
Here's an idea I've had for a while, and I am finally going to post it.

The idea is for Name Tags, crafted with 1 string and 1 paper (in the same way flint and steel is) and would be a really neat item for adventure maps and everyday survival.

The tag can be used to give a new name to any item in the game, e.g. a weapon or block.

    Take this example:

    Iron Sword --> 'Sexy Katana'
    Iron Sword

I can apply any name I want to the item. If I had effects, I could make it:

Potion of Invisibility ----> 'Sneaky Potion'
    0:50 Invisibility 0:50 Invisibility

This would mean for adventure maps names could be given to items, to make the situation more realistic. Or alternatively, players could 'name' their items on multiplayer.

I think it would be a fun and straightforward idea, and it is loosely inspired by the item tags in Team Fortress 2, which I think added a lot to the game.

Please tell me what you think of the idea.

posted a message on Space Race! Minecraft Game!
Hello and welcome to space race! The game of space-colonisation!

    DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.mediafire...yuvcxbuf8z3ryp2

    What is it?

Space Race is a game of colonising as much as you can within a time span. For this, players hop from planet to planet via stars and dye the sheep to their team's colour. You can dye 'neutral' sheep, or alternativly sheep that you opponents have already colonised.

    What does this map include?

    The map includes:

A fully resetting timer, they will alert you quarter, half and 3-quarter ways through
A fun terrain to venture through
Easy to reset and start games
2 to any number of player games, including teams, free-for-alls, team free-for-alls and many others
    Simple rules
    Fun gameplay

    How to play Space Race

    1. Let players pick teams Get into creative mode, and pick teams, note that at least 1 player must be on blue team, as this is what starts the timer.

    2. Get suited up! Spawn yourself some dye of the teams colour, and hold that. If you feel even more patriotic, you can also download a skin for your team.

    3. Load up! If you are on red or blue, load up the tnt cannons (make sure not to place any on the source blocks) and hit the buttons. This will alert all players that the round has started, and everybody can press their buttons.

    4. Set spawns Stand under your flag to set your spawn, in the case that you fall back to earth

And thats it! Hop from planet to planet and dye those sheep! When the timer stops, time is up and you will be put to creative. Get some grey dye and return those sheep to neutral. While doing that, tally up the scores, and find which colour has the most sheep!

Want to get more into character?

    There are skins!

So give it a quick download!

posted a message on Minecraft Nitpicks...
Attention: this is a no moaning :Zombie: , no freakout :Spider: zone.

We clearly all love mine craft here, otherwise we wouldn't go in online forums to discuss the game like we do. There is so much magic within this game but I would like to here any small nitpicks that you have with the game, the art, or its development.

This can include bugs :Spider: or things that you hunk just don't work :GPANTS: ! Please share, and I will start with a few of my own...

    1. Enderpearls not being thrown in creative mode (why?)

    2. Leather being needed for books now (so much harder to make bookshelves etc, it was already pretty difficult)

    3. Villager trading being 'unfair' (I have seen flint and steel for 3 emeralds, that basically a stack and a bit of raw chicken)

    4. TNT being difficult to make (I think crafting the TNT should make 4 (the number of sand used)

    5. Farming not being rewarding enough, even with the addition of melons a while back

    6. The uselessness of: feathers, bowls, pumpkins and sugar (most of these are only used in 1 crafting recipe, I feel that all of these could have more uses)

Please do not see this as any attempt at trolling, I am just discussing nitpicks, things that really don't matter that much but if all addressed could make a big difference to this game.

posted a message on SNOWLAND SURVIVAL
Well hello dear friend! Are you bored of your ordinary life, chopping down trees and mining for diamonds? Well of course you are, so come and stay in Snowland!

In Snowland, you will be provided with lots of equipment to help you stand the cold!

Snowland is a survival map, similar to a few, with a unique twist: you cannot even break dirt. You are restricted to the breaking of trees, and snow blocks that you have placed. Just take a look at the screenshots below!

    :Diamond: :Diamond: DOWNLOAD :Diamond: :Diamond:

:GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

That's right! Not only will you have plenty of warm amour and wool to keep you warm, but you will have a bucket, A WHOLE BUCKET! and lets not forget a wooden shovel, over 1000 uses and counting! Wow! You can even use it to kill yourself if you give up! (we left this out as you obviously wont be giving up).

    Stunning natural flora!

    Wide open lakes!

    Even extra-terrestrial activity! WOW!

:GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

This game is about surviving with almost NOTHING

That means no light, or bloks for that matter.

    Here are the basic rules:

No breaking dirt - the shovel is for gathering snowballs to make blocks, not for dirt

Play on peaceful - There is no food in this map so just relax

You get points according to how many of the challenges you complete - See them below

You can break blocks you have placed, but not the ones that border the world

:GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

There is no stone - So try a generator!

That tree is important - Love it and care for it, it will be your greatest friend

That shovel is your greatestest friend, use it to collect snowballs, and therefore snowBLOCKS

Check the meteor - But beware! It may be quite hot!

:GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

    As mentioned above!

    Find lava - Thats Hot!

Build a cobblestone generator! - It is possible!

Build a snow house (suggested first)- Thats an igloo, you retards

Build a wooden house - Thats a house, you retards

Sleep - Get all cozy and cold

Stone - Make smoothstone and build a house from it

:GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

A video showing the basics of the game :smile.gif: Sort of...

:GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

Yes, the meteor is realistic, in fact, expeditions found cutlery in inuit villages that had come from a meteor, so :tongue.gif:

Yes, you absolutely record yourself playing it, it would actually make me really happy, but tell me so I can link it and help it get some views!

No, you may not have a party at my house to celebrate.

:GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar: :GoldBar:

So what are you waiting for! Take a trip to snowland today!
