@KillerDryl: You have amazingly epic builds, but I'm going to have to decline. I feel that you wont be able to commit to Bolt Craft while being active on half a dozen other servers.
Thank you for your kind words, your remarks are very generous however I must decline your decision to decline on that basis alone. I am in dismay that you would do this after I spent the entire day refreshing the page to see if I would be accepted. Please, take my word when I say that my commitment to Bolt Craft would be 100%. Perhaps in my application this wasn't clear - by no means do I actively play on six servers simultaneously nor do I even have this many in my server browser. Your server very much appeals to me and I believe I deserve the chance to play on it given my suitability.

Any bans?: maybe one or two
SMP Experience: I've played on hundreds of servers, in my time staying faithful to half a dozen or so. Sadly, my favourites aren't up and running any longer which is why I'm looking for a new permanent 'home'.

(there are a few more in that album too)
Why should we pick you?: I'm friendly, creative and mature and this server seems to fit the bill for me. I really like the look of it from the YouTube video and I hope I can be a part of it.
How much time will you commit to playing on the Bolt Craft server?: probably a few hours a day
Notes: I love dogs.

Do you agree with the rules: No
Favorite thing about Minecraft: Don't make me choose! Probably the general freedom to explore and build endlessly

Rating a build like this is pretty tricky. I can't see a huge amount of resemblance to any real life designs that I know of, yet it still looks really good. I like the exterior.
I think that's a little unfair - Most cahthedrals were built to be as light and open as possible - the architects typically tried to avoid that feeling of great masses of stone. That's the whole reason for the flying buttress; the thin walls with their large windows weren't strong enough to withstand the forces of the vaulting on their own.
Having said that, I'd have liked to see a little more on the interior. There were usually quite a few extra things inside a cathedral than just pews. Choir stalls, rood screen/iconostasis, organ, font, shrines and so on. Also I don't really like the way that you can see right to the top of the interior of the spire. Normally I'd expect that there would be a ceiling put in, either above or below the window level.
In terms of ceilings I'd have preferrred rib vaulting over barrel vaulting, but that's just me.
Aside from those nitpickings, good job.
Thanks a lot man! I agree with everything you've said and I will take it into consideration

Presentation: 8/10 (the video and the picture show everything there is to see)
It is a nice looking standard minecraft cathedral
It looks like a very thin hull from the inside. You dont get this "massive feeling" which was promised when you see the outside
I am sure you will get better on this part with practice.
This post isn't supposed to be a flame. I am only telling you my honest oppinion. If you think "What do you know about this stuff ...?!" just click my siganture.
Thanks for your feedback, finally we have a real critic. I appreciate your comments and I agree that it's not a flame, but I still think that you're being too tough. I can understand why; I took a look at your showcase and you have every right to be. You judge this harshly because you're comparing it to your own high standards and not the skill of your average minecrafter.
I think that my cathedral is above average contrary to your opinion of it being 'your standard minecraft cathedral'.
Also, the inside doesn't disappoint in the slightest, maybe it isn't as grandiose as the outside, but it's still large and impressive. Besides, that's just the nature of a cathedral's design; to accomodate a large amount of people all facing towards the priest in pews.
The minimalistic furnishings inside work and just because it isn't huge doesn't detract from the design. If I was judging myself i'd probably say it's not the most jaw-dropping building ever, but as far as cathedrals go, it's been executed very well.

What can I say, they absoloutely blow mine out of the water. Stunning man, utterly stunning. You have serious skill my friend, only a meticulous eye for design like yours could produce such breathtaking builds. I need to step up my game.Posted in: Screenshots

1 thing i hate about it is itlooks more like a + than a cross
That's just the perspective/FOV. It IS a cross, since the sides are disproportionate; the back is longer than the front. Also, I think that saying you 'hate' it is rather inappropriate. If you're going to try and give criticism at least make it constructive and based on truth. If you'd have watched the video like I asked, maybe you would have realised.
Misinformed comment is misinformed.

Wow, I never expected to win. Now I can get an account for my little brother.
Congratulations, packy! and all the other winners
Fingers crossed for me haha. Bro's birthday on Friday, so this would be an ideal complement to the t-shirt i've bought him - could finally get him on the server lol!

There's no need for a dash.
