I've seen practically every farm there is, but that was before I owned the game. Now I'm gonna show you what I find is effective. It:
-Keeps out s and s,
-Grows day and night,
-And looks kinda cool.
For those that want a picture,
Requirements:
-a 10x9x2 space
-a few buckets of water
-7 torches
-lots of dirt and wood
-a door and sign (optional)
Okay, found the space? Good.
make the dirt like this (bird's eye view):
(yes it's ugly, and the end of the soil should line up)
Place the buckets of water in both of the tips of the '2',
and more where needed.
Then, do this:

(add a soil at one end of the dirt, and put a wood on it. Remove the dirt)
Line the perimeter with wood. Then, to make the entrance my way,
Put a step 3 blocks away from the dirt, then put a plank and a step on that.
Then, put the door. Place a plank on both sides of the top step, and another on that.
Throw a sign on one of them. (mine reads 'Kid's Farm No Sheep/Pigs')
Take the torches, and put one on both top planks you just put, one on both grass and one for each corner.
That's how I make my farms, comments are appreciated.
So, I found my way out of that cave (like 50 tiles up was a hole) and found pigs in my house. ****.
But, they stopped jumping around and looked at me. :biggrin.gif:

I went down into a little dead end cavern, and over my music, I HEARD ****ING HISSING.
I'm never going into a cave again until we get a option to turn these sounds off. Then again, might be a sound for a mob..
is it just me, or is everyone else missing their RedStone wires? I just went to look at my cool double door, and my switch and red torch and all my wires are gone...
****, do you want me to jizz my pants? That face one scares the **** out of me..
You could impliment these in a mod, but I'd make a mod of your mod removing these. :s
I got the game yesterday. Greatest purchase ever. But hell, I was in a cave low on torches, swam down a waterfall
BAM! Spider turns to me and I go 'HOLY ****! THE EYES GLOW!'. Not fun. And on my 2nd save, I don't have any coal so I hid in a corner of my unfinished house. Even on peaceful it wasn't fun. But the sort of wailing noises coming from my tower doesn't help when I'm playing at 10 o'clock.

(both being real signs I've made)
