"They do not understand" The captain says to no particular person "They are weak compared to even my people, years of being worshiped has made them arrogant. Arrogance brings death and destruction to those who are arrogant. They say they could beat us in a fight without tools, but the reality is that we have those tools, and they make us stronger than them. One must wonder, however, what the effects of their gift are." She then turns to one of the Argutus, and continues. "I defer to your people's judgement on this."

Feb 7, 2014((Yeah, I mean, militaristic humans would really only have marginally better ships than the Earth Alliance, not massive battlecruisers with weaponry that would easily take down the entirety of the Draconian fleet. Also, wiping out thousands of highly superior Triarian ships in a single post, not to mention doing the same to the Earth Alliance is absolutely ridiculous. Then there's the fact that a ship managed to get through the heavy defenses around Earth and fired missiles that were not immediately shot down while still in space by defenses. I'm with Rouge on this.))Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
Oh no, "false beliefs?" "larger population?" they really do think that they're gods. We may have to set the record straight.
"Do you truly believe you are gods?" Asks the captain, making sure her voice is purely quizzical and not in any way accusing.

"Alright then, I have no objections to you leaving." Says Fergus, but just after the fact his communicator beeps. He holds it to his ear, and it is clear that something has angered him.
"Well then! Picking a fight with the Triarians? Despicable! We will accept refusal of the doctrine, but not open war with out allies! I now have objections to you staying, get off this ship and head back home! You'll all regret this when you see Triarian fleets in your skies, with a rain of plasma coming down on your head!" Fergus runs off towards the bridge, while Earth Alliance security officers escort the UHC diplomats back to their shuttle, and force them to leave the ship.
Earth Alliance 1st Fleet
Rings moving faster than light impact a desolate moon, creating thousands of craters. Blue streaks fill the skies, the plasma exhaust of the Earth Alliance 1st fleet as it slows to orbital speed around the strange world that is Nikola V. The fleet docks with orbital stations and the transfer of negative mass begins, held in forcefield crates so as to not negatively affect space-time near the crates. After refueling is complete, the fleet breaks connection and uses the same maneuver that was used to reach Morn. At Ajakis, the thousands-strong fleet exits the glowing wormhole and assaults the Confederate fleet from behind, the full fury of the entire fleet concentrated on destroyed the enemy.
The captain finally reaches the Dovah, and she is quite obviously intimidated. She knows a single slip-up would get her killed, along with the Dovah of course. She just hopes that they're not as arrogant as she thinks they are. Not knowing how to address them, she walks right up to the group and bows.
The Earth Alliance 4th fleet exits their wormhole, and finds the Equestrian and Draconian fleets getting absolutely hammered by an unknown species, so a message is sent to the new contact, along with a translation matrix.
"We are the Earth Alliance, please identify your species."

"Perhaps it was, but even if I didn't fully agree with it I still think that it would be impossible to remove without considerable damage to the Earth Alliance. I have shown only hope for future relations and cooperation during these talks, and you are returning it with thinly veiled insults. If you want a shouting match, then maybe you should talk to the Triarians and insist in an offensive manner that there is a god!"

Fergus visibly cringes at the mention of the Common Sense War, he did go through it after all. Worst decision of his life to sign up with the army back then.
"No matter what your opinion of the Common Sense Doctrine is, no matter your spiritual beliefs, all humans can agree that the Common Sense War was a war that never should have happened. That is the one thing that can bind our species together."

"Actually, we think it may be able to face a smart piece of cardboard now! That's actually due to the number of ships we have, another species has begun trading highly advanced technology to us. We have also begun diplomatic relations with... uh... Dolphins. Recent cooperative studies have shown that they make great tacticians for space battles. The only downside is that they don't actually have hands. Also, we didn't have anything to do with the planet down there. That was, ironically, the work of two species trying to liberate it."

"Thank you, sorry to have interrupted your people in such an abrupt way." Says the captain, she bows and starts heading north.
"We suspected as much, no human has left the Earth Alliance since the unrest died down, and everyone that did leave left due to the doctrine. We will respect your right to believe what you wish, especially since the doctrine is quite extreme. Also, I am sorry to disappoint you."
Meanwhile, aboard the EAS Anvilicious...
"Captain Misanthrope McEquality?"
"It turns out that the entire Earth Alliance seems to match the personality of a teenager in the 21st century!"
"Yes! And he always inserts a "perfect" version of himself into all of his works!"
((Yes. That was absolutely necessary will will totally advance the plot in a meaningful way.))

Fergus fights back a frown, not wanting to do anything to compromise these talks more than he is about to. He just hopes that this doesn't end in war, and in a tiny corner of his mind he hopes he doesn't die lying on the floor wishing he had insisted more heavily on the arm-mounted railgun he could have had installed. He would lie, but that would probably end even worse.
"Yes we do still follow the doctrine, I am an avid supporter. I do hope that this does not interfere with future relations, nor with the internal affairs of either of our nations."
Earth Alliance 4th Fleet
"The fleet currently consists of 10 Defiance-Class ships, 432 Ares-Class ships, 55 Armstrong-Class War Variant ships, 42 carriers and their respective squadrons of scouts and bombers."
"Analysis of alien fleets?"
"Approximately way more than that."
"Can't we scrape up a few more ships?"
"No, the 2nd and 3rd fleets are out colonizing, we literally have no ships to scrape up."
"Oh well then, ALL HANDS TO WORMJUMP STATIONS!"

Fergus McClain meets the Confederacy admiral onboard the Defiance, and he stretches out his android hand for a handshake.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Admiral. I hope for a long and peaceful relationship with your people." He says, with rare (and misplaced) optimism.
The captain bows to Sologn,
Earth Alliance Intelligence Center
"HEY! FIRE UP THE POPCORN MACHINE!"
"What is it this time? The last time you wanted popcorn Morn was under attack."
"This time the Draconians are fighting in the galactic center with a species that seems superior to them! And the Triarians and Equestrians are there too!"
"I'm calling Pizza Hut, popcorn alone doesn't do this justice. Actually, let's get the chips and salsa. If you want to be classy, we could open that 2075 vintage. Oh, and tell the fleet."
"Why? Do we actually want to get involved?"
"You just said the words "Draconian" and "Superior foe" in the same sentence. Of course we do!"
Feb 5, 2014((We never stop accepting))Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
"Yes, the reptiles are their gods. It would be safe to land by dropship, just be ready to push through crowds."
After hearing the statement of Sologn, the captain sighs and turns back towards him.
"It is sad you had to lose the knowledge you once had, we can prove that your gods are impostors. We simply need scientific equipment. If you do not wish to take my word on this, you are free to believe what you wish until it is proven incorrect. Also, your gods most likely do not use tools due to the fact that they never developed them and cannot use yours. Besides, true strength does not come from muscles, true strength comes from knowledge and numbers. That is why the Draconians could anhilliate the Dovah as you call them. Do not take offense, we are simply stating what we know to be the truth."
Feb 5, 2014Well, I can't meet most of those conditions with the game I am going to recommend, but I think you would find it fun. The game is Homeworld, it really is a great game. Avoiding all spoilers, it is the story of a colony ship and it's escort fleet from a species new to space travel trying to find their true homeworld. Describing it would make it sound horrible due to my skills at such things, but I can tell you that the storyline is incredible and the music is absolutely stunning. Also, it is a 3d game environment (you can move ships up and down), and resource placement is... creative to say the least.Posted in: General Gaming
Another good idea would be Earth 2150, which has an innovative system with which you can play on multiple maps at once (Usually just the mission map and the home base). With this, you can build units in one map and fly them to another with your faction's transport aircraft. Plus if you want a nice base-building experience, this is one of your best choices.
Then there is X: Rebirth. It may seem like a simple space shooter at first, but while you are confined to a single character's POV, you can control an entire fleet and build your own little (or big) empire.
To meet your requirements the best thing I can think of is a 4x game such as Civilization or GalCiv. If you want to control battles I would suggest Endless Space (rock-paper-scissors type battles) or Master of Orion 2 (turn-based combat). Sword of the Stars is a 4x game with true RTS battles, and the different species are quite well balanced and incredibly unique when compared with each other. And then you have Distant Worlds. Distant Worlds is literally an RTS, but it's also a 4x game. It really is hard to explain, just look up some gameplay and you'll get the idea.
To recap, these are my suggestions:
- Distant Worlds
- Sword of the Stars
- Master of Orion 2
- Civilization 4 or 5
- Galactic Civilizations 2 (3 is coming up soon)
- Endless Space
- X: Rebirth
- Earth 2150
- Homeworld (Original first, if you like it then Cataclysm and Homeworld 2)

"There is nothing to suggest any sort of soul, your gods most likely simply have hidden breeding grounds. Perhaps they have hidden technology similar to our new bodily reconstruction facilities, just with the bravery to transfer brainwaves to a hard dr- err, memory device. I'm sorry we couldn't let this be more gradual, it can be hard to find out that you're wrong."
The captain then hears a beep from her communicator, and she picks it up and listens to the message, then she speaks into it's microphone.
"This is the captain of the EAS Churchill, and we've got a bit of a situation here. The natives have been abruptly awoken to the truth that their gods are impostors by a certain species..." She shoots a quick glance at the Draconian "Anyways, you have much more experience with such situations than we do, and we could use your help down here."
915 S. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest Illinois, Earth, Conference room
About a dozen Earth Alliance officials are sitting at a table in the luxurious restaurant, live music can be heard from the other room, while the officials argue over multiple issues.
Legends have warned us in times gone by
Danger can fall on us from the sky
Fire and rain, and hailstone and flame
And gods without mercy and plagues without name...
"Admiral, you are being far too abrupt. There is only a 4.019 percent chance of a victory, especially in such conditions."
Science has warned us of what might be
Dangers that drift through infinity
Comets may call or meteors fall
And nobody knows what lives out there at all...
"We have no idea what this anomaly is, for all we know it could be a white hole!"
Humans are hotheads who break the rules
Humans are reckless but not quite fools
Therefore we fly, keeping an eye
Turned to the depths of the borderless sky...
"We cannot allow them to have such power!"
Some of us people, the rest machines,
Sensors, computers, and readout screens
Always aware, with infinite care,
That we're the first warning if anything's there...
"They have such power and we cannot fight it! Now is not the time to strike!"
We are the sentries who guard your sleep
Endless as hours in the watch we keep
Holding the sky under an eye
As watchful as ever in ages gone by...
"I will not stand by and watch our maps be updated again and again as we keep throwing more light blue on it!
For nothing is certain, but death and change
Earth born, or sky born, as we may range
Always we fly, watching the sky
And nobody human need ever ask why...
"Take a scout fleet, see it for your own eyes. if you think we can fight it, then you can go ahead and take the entire fleet there!"

A message comes in from the EAS Defiance, which has a half-finished analog warp ring in construction around it.
"This is Admiral Fergus McClain, I would normally go over to your ship for this, but we're extremely short on fuel. We barely have enough to keep our orbit stable. You'll have to come over here. I suppose they've decided to make me the first contact diplomat. Anyways, mind the worker bees, they don't actually have sensors and a hit would screw everything up."

"This is Port O'Neill military comms center, you may have mistook this system for another, we are human as well. If the names and languages of our species are a massive coincidence, then I can transfer you to the Equestrian Relations Center. Now, we are extremely busy with the production of new warships, and most of our diplomats are on the fleet we sent to the planet Morn. Let's just say there were a bit late and now we have a planet-sized fireplace. If you want to make a formal contact, please head to the coordinates encoded in this message."
