((Yeah, we're not on a mission to bring nation roleplays to those who have not seen the light never joined one before, we're on a mission to get a larger playerbase in a better area. The Guild is the best place for that.))
The EA forces have grouped up with the Equestrian fleet, and two probes have been sent out to get am image of the defenses.
((I shall be using tactics as well, don't you worry. And you're right, computer systems are my weakness. Despite having ridiculous processing power, the firewalls are pretty crap. Since comms are down, mobilization is extremely hard, but not impossible.))\
((Also, you're forgetting the time I destroyed a nigh-invincible enemy craft with my comms system. That one was "Team 1 raises hammer above Team 2's head, Team 2 knocks it out of Team 1's hands and makes Team 1 leave.))
The Abh smiles at the solution, what with it not involving bloodshed.
"I am glad we were able to resolve this without death, this event has been sent to High Command as well. There will be no change in the surrender treaty."
The fleets unaffected by the virus have gathered at Gliese 581g, and a course has been set for the one known Draconian planet. A comms ship has been sent to the Equestrians informing them of the plan and asking for help.
Vrius Situation Old communications ships are being used to deliver messages, and the fleets unaffected by the virus are mobilizing. All secure files are being printed out into physical copies, once everything is printed off the computers will be completely wiped to get rid of the virus. After it has been wiped, the files will be scanned back in. The fact that this has to be done has given quite a shock to the EA, and plans are being made to upgrade the firewalls. One of these plans includes an entire planet dedicated to antivirus operations, and even it is being considered insufficient. As such, robotic builders have been dispatched to a dozen worlds and have begun ripping them apart and converting them into supercomputers, given the current technology, the combined power of these would be trillions of times the power of all biological brains in EA territory.
EAS Defiance With the sudden appearance of an omnipotent creature, half the crew rushes to do what he told them to while the other half slams their palms into their foreheads. The shields go up, electricity coursing through the hull to repel any damage and the blue forcefield encasing the ship.
((Uhh, there's an Abh on Equiis. Just a reminder.))
"This arrest will not be allowed by the Earth Alliance. Furthermore, your actions have been sent to our High Command for evaluation. There is a chance that the surrender treaty will be altered by us, and you will be forced to accept it to save your nation. The change would most likely be giving us control of your normal and military police forces. I am not afraid to die, it will simply bring new knowledge. Besides, I highly doubt that you could defeat us."
The rest of the squad begins to hover above the ground, their weapons trained at the enemy soldiers. A shield goes up around the dropship, and it moves to give the single FPPC a clear line of sight to the APV. Its laser cannons were aimed at the enemy soldiers as well, particularly the ones with missile launchers. An invisible, soundless laser beam shot out from them, and th emissile launchers were promptly destroyed, the soldiers unharmed.
"No, if you arrest this man we'll blast you right out of the sky."
Two hundred systems have been added to the Earth Alliance as a part of the new expansion program, bringing the total to 1,000 controlled systems. The military has also expanded greatly, and with new miniaturization research attack ships can now carry two FPPCs of the same power as one. Thousands of ships are rolling off the production lines every day, and crews are now being cloned for the new ships, memories being implanted giving them a love of space and EA views of justice. Is this completely moral? Probably not, but they do get paid and enjoy their job. Of course, even if that wasn't the case it might still be done out of desperation. A war with the Draconians will require huge fleets, and this is the only way to get that many ships.
What happens after the war? The clones might come back after the war to parades and be shipped back out to become explorers, which is what they're coded to want. However, it might go the way of WWII, and they could be ignored and reduced to beggars on the streets, or even pirates. Nobody is thinking about this though, only the upcoming war. Everyone is fixated on defeating the Draconians, and nothing else.
An EA dropship flies towards the small group, watching the whole thing unfold from the levitating craft. It came into position next to the APV, the laser cannons pointing towards it and two squads of elite troops (both Abh and human) jump down to the ground, floating down "Because you tried to accomplish the destruction of three species." Says the Abh commander, hovering mid-air with her harness. "My creators, the humans, have a doctrine that states that are the worst sentient species in the universe. Recent polls say that 94% of humans believe you are worse than them. We are extremely suspicious about your kind. Once all those alive now are dead, Sazkar will be free. You will not see that. This is what your actions have earned you. Now, I don't want to kill anyone today, so leave this man alone."
The EA has sent a diplomatic envoy to the designated meeting place, with high hopes for this new equine species.
Virus The EA has gone into a comms blackout, and the people screaming have been scanned, and some sort of highly advanced cybernetics have been found. These people have been detained in maximum security prisons, with military troops guarding their cells.
((I find it kind of funny that all of the official names that I have mentioned for the Earth Alliance are from Babylon 5. When I came up with it I only knew that the show existed.))
"No, that was a Triarian unit." Says Yuuki sternly towards Lano'dum. "They'll only observe, unless you do something aggressive towards them of course. They probably don't think much of you right now, but if you can impress that observer then you might be able to cultivate good relations with them. And believe me when I say that they're someone you want to be on your side."
Dozens of orbital platforms litter the skies of Earth, with the constant glow of the tesla conduit between the Earth and its moon illuminating them with an eerie blue glow. Warships left the orbital drydocks in drives, newly constructed and crewed fighting vessels. Each and every one of them ready to let loose their ordnance upon enemy starships. Fighter craft flew training missions in the shooting ranges, their lasers heating the debris to the point of destruction.
Trade ships came and went through the Krasnikov Tubes left by the ancient exploration ship captained by none other than Fergus McClain as it first rocketed out to Proxima Centauri, laying behind it the tubes now used for trade. While the trade ships used are mostly engine to reach the speeds required for the abuse of the space-time distortion, it's still cheaper than a warp drive. Off in the distance, there is a huge construction underway. From the right angle over Earth, it looks like a dagger stuck into the planet. However, it is a new flagship for the EA fleet. The EAS McClain, a name that Fergus is surprisingly tolerant of. It was probably inevitable though, that he would have the flagship named after him. He was the first human to leave Sol, co-inventor of warp drive, leader of the socialist movement, etc.
"Good council of Equestria, I have come before you to deliver a message directly from Earth Alliance High Command. I wish to say that any inaccuracies regarding your people are not intended as insults, they are simply the conclusions of our people working to understand you further. As you have surely heard by now the Draconian Sanctum has been destroyed. Our sensors have picked up huge fleets entering this galaxy, and we can only assume that yours have as well. Now, I know fully that you have very good relations with the Draconians, but all other galaxies they control were not peacefully absorbed. They were enslaved through massive genocides that killed more than the Common Sense War. It is obvious that you know that, as you are far superior to us on every level. It can only be concluded by our people that you are simply afraid of them, and are thus cultivating good relations. However, we have also concluded that the Draconians are planning an attack on this galaxy, and no species will be spared. We can fight them, it is entirely possible to defeat them. It would be hard, but if there is one thing I have learned, it is that the species in this area of space are mostly morally superior to the Draconians and have the will of my creators. Due to that, I propose a secret military coalition against the Draconians."
To put it bluntly, he completely expects to be executed for treason against allies or something.
EA Military Command
After the Goddess finishes speaking, everyone turns to Fergus, astonished.
"Told ya so." Is all he says to them, he then turns to the Goddess.
"We would not be so stupid as to attack you, there's a law somewhere in the charter about trying to kill deities. The Draconians have a history of war and genocide, it is the belief of humanity that if we could bring an end to such an thing we would be redeemed. Anyways, I do hope you enjoy our show. I can't wait to see how it ends."
"Thank you, sorry for all this. It has to be completely secret. I am delivering an extremely sensitive message that could very well end in my execution given the ridiculous mess that is politics. Please take me to your high council, I must mention that any metal detector security system would inevitably go off due to the nature of the interface system used by my people."
Long-range sensors monitored the Draconian ship, the humans manning the readout screens knew it must have come from Sanctum. They could also tell that it could destroy an entire task force on its own. However, what caught their attention were the huge jars being moved. It was obvious what they contained, the most powerful energy source known to man: dark energy. Long considered to be the holy grail of interstellar travel, it was going to be used to power lasers to push a solar sail propelled ship to other stars. Of course, that plan was abandoned when warp drive was invented, but with laser weaponry it would be horrifically powerful. If the Draconians attacked, that battlecruiser would be unstoppable. So it was tagged as a high-priority target for the upcoming war.
EA Military Command
A group of figures stood around the round table in the conference room, one was a consciousness clone of Fergus, and the others were multiple different EA officials.
"The other nations are building up their armies in response to us, the Triarians were probably fearful that we may be on the verge of a rampage due to the recent wars and the Equestrians probably joined in to stay at the top. Everything is proceeding as planned."
"I'm impressed, you usually can't do anything without being told to by one of your officers."
Fergus seems to completely disregard the jab, and continues on.
"With luck, the Equestrians will begin war preparations when the Abh I sent delivers the message. The Triarians will most likely join us, they appear to have a history with the Draconians."
"Good, good. What about the Hach and lizards?"
"Both have great potential, the Sazkarjhit have determination equal to ours, as do the Hach. We will appeal to both."
"Are you sure we can win this war? The Draconians control dozens of galaxies, even without their Sanctum they are still powerful. Besides, is it the only way"
"I have no doubt. This is the only path to redemption. The Draconians have committed evils on a galactic scale, if we can put a stop to that, we will be redeemed."
((Rouge is right, as GM I allow the continued existence of the Draconian Empire. Since everything needs a beginning, I'll go have the EA finally start preparing for war against the Draconians in a way that isn't completely futile.))
Another 300 systems have been fully colonized and are now building up infrastructure! This brings the total count to 900 systems, the fleet sent to colonize has returned to larger industrial centers for refit, as they are not needed for colonial energy or main transport due to new technology.
The Earth Alliance has begun churning out new ships at an alarming rate, and is somehow providing the crew for them as well. The old cloning systems have been brought back online, and are growing new colonists. Memories are implanted so that they have an intense love of other worlds, mainly so that they are not forced to another planet against their will. It is obvious that the EA is trying to grab all the territory and military power they can, but why?
State of the Alliance Report, 2220
The Earth Alliance is currently comprised of three species, the Dolphins, Abh, and Humans. The Abh are genetic constructs created by the humans specifically for space travel, they are built to withstand extreme acceleration forces and have what looks like two chains hanging from their head, but they are actually biological interface devices that can be used to interface with a ship's computer and thus pilot it as if it were a simple extension of their body. They can be identified by their blue hair and pointy ears. The Dolphins were uplifted due to their experience with 3D environments, and are excellent space tacticians as a result. While humans find it hard to think in 3D terms, it is natural for the Dolphins. Territory size and military technology has exploded, with the number of controlled systems tripling since 2140. While the only miltiary capability we had in 2140 was a few warships with simple railguns, we now have millions of warships armed with antimatter weaponry crewed by the best possible sentients within our territory. However, the threat of the Draconian Empire looms before us and it is safe to assume they have almost had enough with diplomacy. It is extremely likely that they will decide to conquer this galaxy, measures should be taken to united the races here against such a threat.
Equiis, Equestrian Homeworld
What appears to be space debris from a human transport that just entered the system falls towards the countryside near the capitol, headed for a specific area that is uninhabited. Normally, such a thing would simply create a small crater, but this specific object suddenly began to levitate. It flew to the capitol, being undetected by radar due to the material it was constructed out of. The object lands right in front of the palace, and an Abh exits it and turns to one of the guards.
"I have come to deliver a message from the Earth Alliance, it is highly secret and of the utmost importance. I must speak with your leaders immediately."
The EA has begun construction of a huge starship designed to reach other galaxies. It will use up massive amounts of negative energy to reach Andromeda within a reasonable amount of time, and set up a wormgate portal to be linked with one in Sol. With the huge industrial capacity, it should be completed quite soon.
"Yes, he's right." Says Yuuki "Your death is inevitable, there is no sense in fighting. Let it come, you're about to learn the answer to a question no living being knows. If nearly any of the religions we've encountered are right, you'll have eternal suffering to look forward to. Hope you have fun."
The Earth Alliance has agreed to allow Triarian infiltrators collect cultural data, partially because the EA just loves the Collective.
The Earth Alliance troops take off in their dropships and return to the orbital transports, but some are brought to the coordinates of the Grand Vessel via dropship. A fourth of them are well-trained combat avatar operators, while the rest are normal Spec-Ops operatives. Yuuki Sora herself has come down from orbit to assist, using the latest in lightweight (and very discreet) exoskeletons and weaponry. Finding that Hach troops are already at the capitol buildings, they push their way through them to the building holding the Grand Vessel.
Once inside, they find multiple loyal guards. The combat avatars quickly dispatch them, supported by laser fire from the Spec-Ops team. Afterwards, Yuuki Sora takes point, firing at all further guards with a modified laser and using the amplified strength given to her by the exoskeleton to quickly dispatch anyone who gets too close. They fight their way though the building, and the door to the room occupied by the Grand Vessel is broken down by the heavy lasers used by the combat avatars. They burst through the resulting hole, and quickly kill any guards. The combat avatars turn back to the door, forming a defensive wall in case anyone comes to defend the Grand Vessel.
Yuuki runs up behind the Grand Vessel and pulls a knife out, putting it just a centimeter away from his neck. She has a Spec-Ops soldier handcuff his hands and feet in case he tries to make a move. Yuukia activates the translator she has carried for this specific occasion, and makes herself obviously visible to the Grand Vessel.
"You are under arrest for crimes committed against sentient life, as determined by the Earth Alliance. You have ordered the genocide of three different species due to their religious beliefs, and if I had my way, you would be sentenced to eternal pain of all typed in an avatar body. However, your people wish a traditional execution, I expect you know what that means. Your gods will not assist you now. If they exist, then they wish your death."
"We accept your generous alliance proposal, may this be remembered as the start of a long and prosperous relationship between our two peoples!"
"We will follow your traditions for the execution of the Grand Vessel, and his son will be allowed to take control. The 25% reduction is acceptable, our ships will fill in the gap. We require the location of the Grand Vessel and the ability to communicate with your parliament. If they do not accept surrender, then more violent measures will be taken."
The designated diplomat steps into the controlled chamber wearing a standard issue spacesuit, obviously happy to be making face to face contact with a new species.
"Welcome to our birthworld" She says "It is an honor to meet with your people, what do you wish to discuss?"
"The Earth Alliance accepts your surrender, as long as we have an active presence in your space to make sure you never fight over religion again. If you accept that, then materials will be sent to help rebuild, but any weapons made from those materials would be destroyed by our forces. Half of your existing army must be dropped, EA ships will fill in the gap. Your planets will be free for you to control, but your space will be constantly monitored by us. Your international comms systems will be monitored and combed for any signs of an attempt to attack again. The Grand Vessel will be punished for his crimes by being launched out of an airlock without a pressure suit, a report of it with a censored version of his death will be televised to hopefully prove that he was not chosen by the gods. It is also a requirement that religious tolerance be taught in your schools, to prevent another war such as this. Once all above the age of 3 of your solar cycles are dead, then your nation will be released from our grasp. Can you agree to these terms?"
((Power is back on!))
((Also, Duck, we've got to do more with Robert.))
A massive EA assault fleet enters orbit next to the Equestrian one above Sazkar, and bombardment of military installations begins with the use of antimatter bombs, since FPPCs are worthless in atmosphere. With the start of the attack, it becomes clear that most of the fleet is made up of troop carriers. Millions upon millions of dropships fall from the bellies of the carriers, plumes of hot plasma from their aft engines illuminating both the nation's ships with a blue glow. The craft fall for some time, but then they begin to simply float down slowly to the ground, using negative energy to slow their fall. The levitation of the craft is actually powered by their own fall, the strange properties of negative energy holding the droves of ships in the skies. As they get closer to the ground, billions of paratroopers and the tank battalions to go with them leap out of the dropships, floating down to the ground with parachutes. They would be using negative mass packs, but seriously, that would cost way too much.
Once the troops have been dropped, the craft move into position to assist them in the battle with their heavy laser weapons. The troops assemble their modular FLBE (Focused Laser Beam Emitter) weapons while on their way down, and the tank crews maneuver themselves to land next to their tanks. Some of the attack force is taken out by the enemy air defenses, but most land. The incredibly huge army marches on the capitol, while huge chunks break off and head to conquer other cities on the continent.
Once the force reaches the capitol, there is almost no use for the Sazkarjhit to stay and defend it. The sheer numbers of the combined army make it clear the intention of the EA, they plan to capture the entire world. Artillery brigades bombard the city, coordinating with the orbital cruisers. Antimatter missiles punch through enemy armor as if it was wet paper against a bullet shot, while the lasers of the infantry fry enemy troops alongside the tank-destroying lasers of the dropships. Tank battalions move to engage their enemy counterparts, railgun bolts and plasma meet laser beams and antimatter shells. The enemy mech is swarmed by tanks and dropships, attempting to rip through the armor and get to the pilot.
A single message is transmitted to all cities on the planet, to drive home the point that they have no chance.
"Sazkar will fall." Says a deep but feminine voice, in an aggressive tone. Images of antimatter detonations are shown, along with the ongoing hail of missiles from orbiting ships. "You have no chance against the combined might of our fleets. Your defenses have been destroyed, your capitol is under attack and on fire. Our forces are moving out to take over your cities, with weapons the likes of which you have never imagined." Another image is shown, this time of a barren world with a thick atmosphere. The picture slowly morphs into one of a hellish, airless planet. Text informs the viewer of the name of the world (Na'ir'al Saif VI), and the cause of its destruction (EA Antimatter weapons from the entire combined fleet). Finally, after images of the victory at Domu before the broken cease fire, the likeness of the speaker is revealed. Text informs all that her name is Yuuki Sora, Admiral of half the attacking fleet.
"Where is your god now?"
"Actually, it was a side effect of a gift given to us by our allies. For lack of a better term, we refer to it as magic. However, we greatly appreciate your willingness to help us, and the offer shows your power. For a people that have apparently never gotten to this stage of contact, you are quite good at it."
