The UTSNA is doing its best to keep its territories in Africa, doing everything from putting up more propaganda posters to initiating a huge election in Africa. It will allow Africa to be self-governed, and they will not have to abide by UTSNA law, but they will still be considered a part of the UTSNA and participate in national projects such as the space program. They have also begun initiating a similar program in Australia, as the support from the liberation has gone away in favor of more nationalism.
The first transport has left for the moon! Carrying a crew of 10, 50 moonbase personnel, habitat/garden inflatable base modules, and excavation equip it will mark the beginning of a new era in space travel! It hasn't been named though, because neither Canada nor Britan have said anything about it.
The fusion reactor in Washington has been built! It uses a volcanic tap to provide the needed heat, and is being prepared for activation. All that it is waiting for is the Helium-3 required for the efficient operation of such a device.

After following the alien signal to its source, the old exploration ship enters a populated system. The majority of the ships in the system match the basic design composition and philosophy of one of the fleets involved in the Sol Incident, they never got the name of that species. It appears that now is an excellent opportunity. The crew transmits a translation matrix, then the following message:
"Greetings from humanity, we hail from the third planet of the system we call Sol, we call it Earth. We hope for a cooperative relationship with your people. Enclosed in this message is a complete cultural database of our people, compiled on the day this ship was launched, about 40 of our homeworld's solar cycles ago. Please don't kill us."

Here I am, analyzing the data on the propulsion systems that will be used, just in case there's some sort of second examination or something. You never know what they could have up their sleeves. Then I hear a barely audible beep, and an icon pops up on my visor to alert me of an incoming message. Probably a rejection. I think, knowing that if they uncovered my past I would be expelled from the program and thrown in prison. If I believed there was some higher power, I would be praying to it right now. I open the message, and a smile spreads across my face.
I'm going to Titan.
Jan 28, 2014Name: Gawion SierraPosted in: Forum Roleplaying
Appearance: 5'8, short black hair, extremely visible visor implant along with a processor/memory unit attacked to his upper neck. He has an average build, but it is accompanies by a robotic exoskeleton designed for manuverability.
Bio: Born to a poor, debt-ridden, single mother on September 13th, 3090 in the slums, Gawion never got a proper education, he taught himself using books he stole from the library whenever he was sent into town. He dreamed of one day leaving the Earth, which he referred to as an "Insignificant ball of rock populated by worthless, arrogant creatures". Due to his mother dying when he was 13, leaving him with no living family, he has always seen the universe as a cruel place. When he was 15, he met a particularly rich student at a school in the city. He cultivated a friendship with him, and waited for a chance to strike. He finally got his chance, when the student left a computer behind. Gawion was able to take all of his personal info off of it, and he used it to steal thousands (Maybe millions, he never really checked) from his bank account, the best part is that it looked like the student made an accidental transaction and whoever received the money just took it. There was no evidence pointing to him. He quickly used the money to become a cyborg. Due to his birth, he had no records, nothing to trace him. He acquired a forged set of papers when he was 18, and used them to sign on with the Earth Marines. After many years of working as a military engineer, he was offered an opportunity as a military Aerospace Engineer (Which his implant gave him a PhD in). At 29, he learned of the Zeus 9 applications one day while catching up on the news, and he immediately applied. Throughout the training, he pushed himself beyond his limits, doing everything the evaluators wanted, and sometimes driving himself to exhaustion trying to do more. HE has no idea if he did well in their eyes or not, as he was simply too focused on doing everything right.
Jan 26, 2014((Actually, an Earth Alliance style FTL could bend space-time in such a way that it would allow the ship to land, but they really only send down craft such as the Valkyrie Shuttle used in Avatar, because the negative energy used as fuel for the warp drives is extremely expensive. In fact, Earth Alliance warp drives could easily be rigged to function as a wormhole gate, but it would use a lot more negative energy.))((Oh, and Phoden is accepted.))Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
A small Earth Alliance fleet warps in, accompanied by a large amount of relief ships. A broadband message is sent."Anyone who requires assistance, respond with any form of signal! We repeat, if you require assistance please respond!"
((Also, some pictures of the Defiance-Class ship. I spent the whole day working on this thing.

Okay, that might have been a waste of time.))
Jan 26, 2014This looks really good, but my suspension of disbelief is extremely subjective. If you bumped up the arrival date by a bit and set it in another solar system (Alpha Centauri would be fine, it can be near-future and you could keep with the gas giant's moon thing). Of course, that's just my opinion. The setting I came up with has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I just re-watched Avatar and have the wiki open in another tab.Posted in: Forum Roleplaying

After its most recent warp jump, an old exploration ship enters an alien system. It was built as nothing but a publicity stunt, created in desperation by a company dying in the middle of the economic reforms. That company emptied all the funds it had left into the ship, if they had built it faster its crew would have actually been the first humans in another star system. However, they were beaten by the SXS Hawking (More commonly known as the EAS Hawking). That loss was mainly due to a mysterious accident at the company's research facility involving a 57 year old man and explosives only available to the Earth Alliance military. The ship's skeleton was put up for auction after the company went under, the last capitalist action in the EA. It was bought by SpaceX (Which was taken over by the government like all other companies later). It eventually became what it is now, an Earth Alliance exploration craft.
But enough history on this junk heap, what's important is the fact that this system is abuzz with artificial radio signals. The language is completely alien, but the crew is able to detect a signal that appears to be similar to a SETI contact signal. The crew is understandably quite excited, because they're about to earn a place in the history books. As long as they don't get shot down, that is. A message is sent to the densest population center in the system, which the crew assumes is the capitol. The message is comprised of a map of the Milky Way, with a red dot around Sol. It also includes an image similar to the Pioneer plaques, along with a cultural database, translation matrix and the following audio:
"Greetings from humanity, we hail from the third planet of the Sol system, we call it Earth. We hope for a cooperative relationship with your people. Enclosed in this message is a complete cultural database of our people, compiled on the day this ship was launched, about 40 of our homeworld's solar cycles ago. Please don't kill us."
After hearing the question, the humans are shocked. Everybody expected to be laughed at or killed by alien species after the Draconian contact, not given such power!
"Well, its your choice. Our species is the youngest here, we only unified about a hundred of our years ago. Hell, we still aren't unified. My people simply do not deserve to make this decision., its your call."

-It takes thousands or millions of years for even Draconian ships to travel between galaxies (until the lategame when we can actually get a shot off at one of the ships from the homeworld). If you don't like this, you don't get other galaxies.
-That's basically all that I think we need, because this would be boring if everything was balanced. Like rouge said, galactic center, its also much easier to take. Just take down the shields of the Draconian stuff there and let the antimatter anhilliate them.))
Admiral Sakura looks on at the planet as it cracks apart, terrified along with the rest of the crew. The satellites are recalled back into their parent craft, and the fighters make a break for any hangar. Once everything's back in, The warp rings begin to glow and the ships are engulfed in a gravity lensing effect, which would appear to an outside observer to be traveling faster than light. A single buoy remains at the site, transmitting the same image over an over again. A human would recognize it as "The Scream" by Edvard Munch, however the face is heavily exaggerated, most likely to make the person look even more terrified.

Two new ships for the fleet have just finished construction after two months of 24/7 rotating shifts and reorganizer upgrades. The computer memory started out at 14% capacity, now its at 98%. Apparently it takes about 3.6e+19 terabytes to store all of the patterns for the new technology that the engineers essentially ripped off of the Hawking after the Draconians gave it an overhaul. These two ships are the EAS Defiance and the EAS Sentinel, both of the Defiance Class and designed to be warships.
((I wish to point out that the memory numbers I gave you there are actually pretty realistic, if not horribly underestimated for the time period.))
Jan 17, 2014Battle of HawkingPosted in: Forum Roleplaying
Due to the defensive satellites, the Earth Fleet is almost entirely immune to the projectiles, but the energy weapons take a toll on the fleet. You'd think that they would cut their losses and leave Hawking for dead, but the fleet continues firing everything at any hostile ship that it detects. Despite their apparently brave onslaught, the crews of their ships are actually making sure their wills are written. A message is sent from the command ship towards the Triarian ships, and its contents show just how desperate the fleet is right now, and it will probably soon be looked upon as the beginning of the desperation of the entire species.
"Admiral Sakura to Triarian ships, we require assistance! Our ships are incapable of surviving this! I repeat, we require assistance!"
After the message is sent, with the entire bridge crew looking on, the admiral known as "The Lioness" stoops over on her command console.
"After the war we've just started is over, there will be no room left in hell nor heaven."

Thousands of construction drones silently float around the construction bay, assembling a new warship. The government has upped the military budget by 500%, and now humanity has a real warship; the Defiance Class. An artificial gravity that will be workable in battle, laser and nuclear weaponry, and a specialized bridge designed to be switched between aquatic and bipedal layouts on the push of a button. It has the latest warp drive and a Boulet-style sublight engine which utilizes tachyons. As the sublight drive is much smaller, it leaves more room for weaponry.
Jan 17, 2014I do have to agree with fallout on this one, plus the pictures of the aliens cited themselves. He's not stealing it, it's obvious he didn't draw it all in those few minutes, just showing that its not his is enough for me.Posted in: Forum Roleplaying
