posted a message on Giving Dispensers More Functions
    Quote from 109AN»

I think that if there does end up being a block which can break and place other blocks, I shouldn't be the dispencer. It's too cheap for that and doesn't make much sense. A dispenser is pretty much a redstone-activated bow, it shoots minecarts, arrows, and other things, but a bow can't place blocks. If a block can do this stuff, it should be more expensive.

Also, BUD switches cannot detect if you have caught a fish, fish hooks are entities, and BUD switches literraly stand for Block Update Detectors. And to make a huge slime block drilling machine like you said, well, pistons cannot move block entities! Also, that you probably break servers where there are lots of people who can do that thing.

And Minecraft isn't about automation, it's about working for your resources. Automation like this is the goal of modded Minecraft and I think it should stay that way for the most part.

Well, maybe a new block (or two) could be added for this purpose, but I think that tools fit the current use for dispensers, which can use flint and steel already. I thought that BUD switches could detect particle effects, but I did some more research and apparently I was wrong.
Minecraft can be about anything players want, and since people already semi-automate some things, there should be ways to further increase automation. You can't force your opinion on what Minecraft is about on others, and saying "they should just use mods" is about as bad as a suggestion saying "just turn off the feature if you don't want to use it".

    Quote from a321b74»

Responses in bold. I'm going for No Support. Automation is meant to be worked for. Wither cages, tunnel bore machines and automatic farms are complicated, and need more than a few Dispensers to make them challenging to build. While I do think some automation is nice, I think it should cost more than Dispensers do.

    1. Villager's can't place or break blocks, unless you count crops, which is a really limited spectrum.
    2. That should be obvious, for automatic farms.
    3. As stated above, that wouldn't actually work
    4. This should also be obvious, as stated, the dispensers would operate 1 block in front of them.
    5. and 6. They actually don't, and are impossible if your last comment is true.
    7. I'm sure that Mojang could devise a way to allow for tile entities to be pushed by pistons; I believe there is already a suggestion that would change the block system to let torches/redstone be pushed, which could easily be adapted to dispensers.

Yes, some automation is nice, and expanding the methods of automation would add a lot to the game. It would take a lot more than a "few dispensers" to automate things, and how is not having the ability to automate things better?

posted a message on Giving Dispensers More Functions

Right now, dispensers have a multitude of functions, from launching arrows to placing minecarts. However, there is still no way to automate breaking blocks or even placing them.

Therefore, I propose that dispensers should be able to place blocks if they have a block in their inventory, and break blocks if they have a tool. Placing blocks would consume blocks in their inventory, while breaking them would use the tool's durability. Dispensers would place/break blocks from directly in front of them.

Dispensers would also be able to use other tools, such as hoes to till dirt in front of them. Even fishing could be automated, but to prevent exploitation, the rod would be cast when the dispenser is powered, and reeled in when unpowered, so the player would have to rig up a BUD switch to detect if a fish was on the line to truly automate it. Swords placed in dispensers would strike at the mob in front of them. On all tools, enchantments would be considered.

The applications for adding this would be nearly endless. I can imagine players building automatic piston tunnel miners, with hoppers to collect and store drops, and autobuilding walls. Enormous cobblestone factories would supply gigantic flying machines that could build complete houses wherever they went. This would add a lot to minecraft, and allow for a level of automation never seen before.

    Please give feedback!

He isn't blaming you he is correcting me. How about he just stop replying to this post and just let the post die?

No, he is saying that the reason Minecraft is crashing is because I downloaded a dev version of NEI. Why would you think that he was correcting you?

Ok, to be frank what "dev" means depends on how the mod's author labels their files.

And in most authors case, including ChickenBones, "dev" files are deobsfucated mods for developers. ChichenBones does not do specific "test" releases. Just look at what files he offers for each and every single version of his mods: universal (the mod), dev (deobsfucated mod for developers) and src (sourcecode).

That's obviously not what it is, as Minecraft runs fine with NEI and CodeChickenCore. As I've already established, the problem was with Growthcraft, so don't keep on trying to convince me that it's my fault for using a dev version of NEI.

Dev versions are indeed TEST versions. Meaning don't run them if you except to be playing your game flawlessly. They tend to have a lot of bugs and can indeed crash and corrupt your game. How about deleting the mod and reinstalling Minecraft. Make sure to backup your important saves and put all your mods in a separate folder before reinstalling. The mods That seems to causing the problem are CodeChickenCore and NEI. Go for the non dev versions if possible. Usually when a mod crashes your game reinstalling Minecraft is your best choice.

If you would have read the OP, you would see that I found the problem, which was Growthcraft.

And you happen to crash using dev version ....

"dev" files are de-obsfucated code for running in a development environment. They DO NOT work in the normal game.

Actually, no. That's not what dev versions are. A dev version of a mod is usually a test version of the next update for the mod, like snapshots in Minecraft.

This means you put in a clearly marked file meant for mod developers, instead of a mod file.

Actually, the dev version of NEI is the only one that will work with my Forge version, as it crashes if I use the universal one. Also, do you have to be so rude? I don't think that anyone enjoys condescension.

A robot is a mechanical or virtual artificial agent, usually an electromechanical machine that is guided by a computer program or Electric circuitry and thus a type of an Embedded System.

Electric circuits in minecraft are basically redstone, iron golems are not made of redstone and you basically stated that they are robots. So that means you're wrong, they're not robots so they are not made of redstone. Understand?

You're still not understanding what he said. He specifically said that they are robots that were NOT made with redstone, and yet you still ignore him. You're the one that's wrong.

So, I started a new world with around 60 mods(!), and it worked fine for an hour or so. Then, as soon as a town chunk from Witchery loaded, I crashed. Now, every time I try to load a world, Minecraft crashes. Anyone have an idea?
