posted a message on Accepting m1.8 Skin Commissions [FINALLY working on 13-commission backlog]

    --UPDATE (scroll down for TL;DR)--

Hello all! Sorry I totally shut down for a long while, life got too busy for me. :(
But now I have graduated from highschool and I have a lot more free time before college! Right now I'll finally start working on the thirteen commissions I've yet to fill! :D It's probably actually gonna be a rather slow process as I'm not sure how much time I'll dedicate it, in addition to a couple of the commissions being RATHER difficult. While I still intend to do them, they just seem very intimidating so looking at them makes me put them off without so much as a started attempt. :(

While I would love to just do all the commissions in the order they were requested, it would be better for me to try and get as many skins done in as short a timespan as I can. I will therefore be doing them in order of difficulty so that one particularly difficult skin commission submitted does not stop me in my tracks as before.

Here is the (general) order I'll be filling in commissions:

    1) update to 1.8 format (shouldn't take long)

    2) enhancements / skin-fusions (a little longer, depending on difficulty)
    3) entirely new skins from reference images (probably two to four days for each skin AFTER I've officially started it)

    AS FOR NEW COMMISSIONS:
Please do not submit any more commissions until the thread title indicates that I am back in the game ready for new requests! I really wanna get this backlog started and cleared without adding onto the already long list.
Also, as much of a train wreck as I made of the situation, completely stopping my work for several months (really sorry about that :( ), I may begin charging for skins in proportion to the actual amount of worktime I spend on them as well as a buffer of how difficult the actual commission should be based mostly on it's request type - 1.8-update, enhancement / skin merge, or a new skin from reference images (my fav :) ). I've got a couple multi-skin commissions as just enhancements or 1.8-updates in large number; those - IF they were not SAFELY IN MY BACKLOG FREE OF CHARGE - would be charged on a per-skin basis as separate orders.

Here is how - AFTER MY BACKLOG - things will work IF I start charging for skins:
    1) the commission is sent
    2) I will find my own time to work on the skin
    3) After I have finished the skin OR when I need extra information, I will pm you that your skin is done and how much the cost is as well as a PREVIEW SCREENSHOT of the skin's front and back as a picture of a 3D model
    4) You will pm me back, acknowledging the order and confirming that you are happy with and still want the skin WITH the provided cost OR you will work with me on tweaks you want to your skin before doing so. And if you don't want the skin, that's cool, I simply won't charge for it and won't upload it - no hard feelings! :)
    5) Once you confirm that you are ready to pay for the skin, I will pm you the info for how to pay me
    6) You will forward the payment
    7) Upon confirming the payment, I will pm you the .png for your skin

I know the above info is REALLY INTIMIDATING (even I am a little overwhelmed) but although I know there is a very good community out there, I don't want to take the chance of someone receiving a skin and refusing to pay for it in order to get a free skin that they "are not happy with" but use anyway. I've never worked with online payment with people before, so I wanna be safe about it.

Keep in mind this is all HYPOTHETICAL - mostly it's to keep me from rapidly forming a backlog as commissions rapidly flood in.
In regard to the expected costs of each skin, I'll be updating the thread's head post with that info once I finish this thirteen-commission backlog and figure out how much I should be charging.

RECAP / TL;DR: Gonna fill my backlog, gonna take a while. How long? No idea, sorry. Gonna all be free of charge. And if after this length of time, you don't want the skin I've made for you, that's cool! Don't worry at all about work I've put into it only for you to not use it - I just want you to be happy! :D
AFTER I FINISH MY BACKLOG I will update on whether I'm gonna start charging for skin commissions that have not been submitted prior to this post. Happy Minecrafting! :D

Woah I never got notifications from this thread, I am really sorry
I've taken care of a few things since then, hope things are back in order - though the held block thing, I haven't run into that problem.

Hey! I put a lot of time into this and recently updated it and I'm just gonna put it here where hopefully it can provide some more help!
It's a PIXEL-PERFECT map of the biomes used in the biome colormap, after looking at a couple of references for where the biomes approximately start and, through painstaking trial and error (special thanks to Jeb for adding F3+T to reload textures in-game), tracking down the each pixel used in each biome for two solid days (now that I understand how it works, I can update it in much less time). :)

I've been using the redstone custom colors (assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\colormap\redstonecolor.png, horizontal 16x1) to make redstone varying shades of cyan when on and one shade of bright orange when it's off, making circuit power a LOT easier to see. As of Minecraft 1.8, the particles are now colored a bright cyan (yay!), but the wire color no longer works and is staying at the default red. Help? ,_, Appreciate the time, and keep up the amazing work with the mod! ~Word_Wizzard

posted a message on Accepting m1.8 Skin Commissions [FINALLY working on 13-commission backlog]
    UPDATE ON THE COMMISSIONS:
I have a lot on my plate right now, between school, schoolwork, reading my first manga, and recently taking up a really complicated programming project for a really nice calendar handling and displaying recurring events in a really powerful way (gonna be so sweet when it's done!).
Finally, I'm playing Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for the first time for a friend while I study the dungeons and think about level-design cause I'm gonna be potentially designing levels, writing music, and aiding in story-line writing and mechanics for a game me and him may be making.

So don't get me wrong, I still wanna do commissions!
But I have ten unfinished commissions right now, and honestly I've only started on one which isn't going well as it is because of issues with colors and shading (low-res is just hard to work with, despite how much experience I have working at that level). And although this is based on just like, three commissions, I average three hours on a quality skin commission.

So all in all, I'm REALLY SORRY it's taking such a long time for me to fill commissions and it's still gonna be a while longer ^_^"

I'm so sorry glasses in Minecraft are so impossible. ,_,
The dark colors were a bit difficult to put shading into, but I think I managed. :)

    Alright ^_^

It's pretty complicated (don't worry, I kinda need complicated commissions! ^_^) and it's getting late where I live, so it probably won't get done until tomorrow.

posted a message on Accepting m1.8 Skin Commissions [FINALLY working on 13-commission backlog]

With the new skin update enabling a "hat" layer all over, and especially allowing separate left/right arms and legs, skins have countless more possibilities than before. I've got the new 1.8 format totally down-pat, so I've taken to browsing the skins section of the forums for commissions.

Here are the guidelines for my commissions:
    - Want a skin made from a character? Great! Supply a pic of the character's front (and back, if applicable) and I'll get to work!
    - Want an old skin upgraded to 1.8? I can do that too. Supply the skin file and some comments on the upgrades you want.
    - Want a skin enhanced? Made your own but not sure your skills are up for the quality you want? I can work with that. Post the file and I'll see what I can do.
    - Please try to limit it to humanoid characters - I'm no good at making animal or mob skins ,_,

I'm on CDT (UTC -5) and on a school schedule, so I'll do what I can but more complicated commissions (don't worry, I need complicated commissions - I enjoy making awesome stuff!) won't get done for a few hours and therefore might come an entire night or even a full day after you submit them.

If you wanna see a detailed guide for the new skin format, simply follow this link to a thread I made for it: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/skins/2210920-instructions-for-1-8-skin-making

    --UPDATE ON COMMISSIONS--

I did a detailed post about things on the second page of the thread, but here's the TL;DR:

I hope this is satisfactory (but please, don't hesitate to let me know if it needs some tweaking). This is the most complicated skin commission I've had in a long time. Thanks for the awesome practice! ^_^
