I felt like a genius when I made a piston & redstone-powered ceiling/floor light back in 1.7.
I doubt I was the very first one with such an idea, but I came up with the idea independently from other sources.
I should note, however, that I have seen no other lights of this sort predating mine.

I think it would be nifty if they firstly performed their current function, but also would cause an accelerated regeneration of health (as compared to that of a full hunger bar, anyway, on top of being additive to that regeneration) in addition to preventing the hunger bar from decreasing. Of course, it would function in the same way as a potion in that this would be a timed effect. Perhaps 0:45-1:30 would be a rather balanced time interval?
With such a limitation imposed upon said apples, of course, they would increase in value for they would be invaluable in emergency situations whereas one is less-than-likely to survive and there is much to lose. Of course, such occasions are rare in single player as far as I am aware of, and, perhaps, the apples would hold significantly more value in the multiplayer mode?
Jul 1, 2011Asking for seeds/coords is a fruitless endeavour. If the game goofed up and mixed some things together, then it is unique to that specific generation. If another generates the same world then OF COURSE the torch will not be there! Trying to verify a goof with a non-goof progresses nowhere. >_>Posted in: Survival Mode
Jul 1, 2011Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is good if you like utopia/dystopia stuff. Or, if you're the Sci-Fi type, go for the Space Odyssey series. All four books were a great read, but the movies were rather slow and boring. >_>Posted in: General Off Topic
October Sky is a great read in general. You should read it. Now. If you haven't.
I've heard Dante Alghieri's Divine Comedy is a good read. I plan to locate Inferno, at least, as I have played the game which looks to share little relation.
In that same vein, I have heard that Paradise Lost is a good read, but I have yet to read it, unfortunately.
Jun 30, 2011Oh my GAWD! It's so HARD NOW! I can't just, like, add MORE redstone wire or maybe, like, a REPEATER, man! I have to, like, go to the FORUMS and COMPLAIN of the ENORMOUS DIFFICULTY now involved! I fell your pain, brotholemew, I feel your pain!Posted in: Survival Mode
Jun 30, 2011In terms of metal, Black Sabbath is good to listen to, especially during combat.Posted in: Survival Mode
Rock is a nice genre for Minecraft, and I have a few suggestions:
If you like some of the more classic rock, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Creedence Clearwater Revival, AC/DC, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Aerosmith, The Beatles, and the Steve Miller Band are all superb choices.
If you're more of an 80s person I'd say Guns 'N' Roses, ZZ Top, and Poison are good options.
Or, if you like jazz & swing, The Rat Pack is always fantastic. Pick up a remaster CD and relax a bit. Other good oldies are songs by Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and/or the Andrews Sisters.
More narrowed down selections are some of the more-known single songs, such as Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Hungry Like The Wolf, The Safety Dance, 8675309/Jenny, American Woman, Turn Up The Radio, Video Killed the Radio Star, etc.

Jun 27, 2011I vote against the outright removal of it as then there would be no sensical way to till soil (doing it by hand, whilst possible, would realistically take forever and be rather impractical).Posted in: Suggestions
One improvement I can think of is changing the hoe so that it will clear grass first if present and then till dirt. Then we would have an easy grass removal tool without needing to till it beforehand. :happy.gif:
Jun 20, 2011One morning, I was on the computer in our living room, just playing some games, and a bird flew out of the chimney. I look up at the damned thing only to see something fly down and hit my face.Posted in: General Off Topic

There's a better way... Cheaper and without the gap between the changes... Just have the glowstone next to a sticky piston, such that it's over the hole when the piston is retracted, then extending the piston turns off the light...
Well, you would probably need to encase the whole thing but it's still more efficient...
The problem with that is the piston arm doesn't block light. T-T
Jun 18, 2011Seeing as how we now have a redstone forum and my old thread was buried in the survival section, I thought to revive it:Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
A while back I got the idea to design a floor light that could be turned on/off from 1 switch. So, with little prior skill or knowledge of redstone, I decided to try for it. I suceeded thanks to pistons, though it's hardly efficient resource-wise. It's largely a waste, but it works.
I turned it into a cieling light for the video so that I could show the workings of it without having to build and dismantle an entire room.
I also made a tutorial for any who wish to make one:

May 23, 2011@roboticaustIf you attacked glass so as to break it then the clouds viewed through said glass would turn invisible, apparently. I never noticed myself, though, and had to look it up.I could, though, be wrong as it has been a while since I recall finding said information.Posted in: News
