posted a message on [CTM][Collection] RenderXR's Untold Stories Series

Alright, fair warning ahead of time that this post is going to be very lengthy, because I have a lot I want to say about the map.

I've been playing Minecraft since 2012, and my first map I played was 'Canopy Carnage' by Vechs. All the way back in beta 1.7. Since then I've played maps from Amlup's 'Uncharted Territory' series. So I've been around the block for a while. That being said, Corona Trials was the best CTM I've ever played, and I was blown away by so many areas. I'm going to get into my opinions on each area, maybe you could use as feedback for future maps (I understand if you just skim through it.) however I'm mostly going to be reminiscing about my time playing. But first I want to highlight my deaths.

DEATHS 1-3: Chillblast Pit (Swarmed by spiders after falling to the bottom obsidian layer)

    DEATH 4: Bog

DEATH 5: Chillblast Pit (Creeper from above)

DEATH 6: Primeval Woods (Failed water bucket drop)

DEATH 7: Corona Chamber (Dumbass skeleton shot a Zombie Pigman and got me killed)

WARNING: SPOILS IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE MAP YET

    Winterbound:

I felt this was a perfect starting area. It flowed nicely and the loot felt balanced. I remember finding that small dirt patch, to make myself bread to get started on my journey. My highlight would have to be flooding the tunnels with all the ice melting.

    Monument:

Really gave a sense of safety and tranquility. Loved the fireworks when completing a wool. One thing that bothered me was that I was trying to start a wheat farm outside the premade area you provided and the damn seeds kept coming out for no reason. Highlight would have to be learning that every waterfall in the entire map would have to be checked at the waters source.

    Aurora Valley:

Just a personal preference, but I prefer the more structured dungeons over an open area. This is because I feel obligated to check every nook and cranny, so it took a while. As far as finding emeralds, after searching for almost 2 hours I had to pull up a let's play on YouTube to find 2 of the 3 that I missed. Highlight would have to be recognizing the sand/creeper trap next to the potato farms. This made me happy because I fell for just about every other trap on the map.

    Chillblast Mines/Pit:

Oh boy, this area was fun for sure. The mines portion didn't challenge me too much. I liked that it was linear and that it was very clear on where to go. For the pit... Oh boy. This is where the majority of my deaths were. The very first was getting knocked to the bottom of the pit where dozens of spiders came right at me. I died two other times at the bottom, in a hopeless attempt to retrieve the items I lost. My highlight was causing havoc with the Valkyrie sword.

    Laminar Labs:

I loved this area. Just loved it. I got Super Mario vibes with all the green pipes around me, and it was this area was the first time I had to adjust to advancing smartly rather than just rushing in swinging my sword. At one point I was knocked off and fell to the slime trampoline below. As I fell I thought I was going to be screwed the same way twice. Highlight is getting the Redstone block through mass murder of witches.

    Gemlight Bog:

I am confident in saying that this was my least favorite area in the map. The area seemed to drag on too long without change. Through my perspective it was just a pain in the ass running around the large area placing torches everywhere and breaking slime spawners. Area seemed repetitive, and I had a difficult time finding the emerald that was underwater. Highlight would have to be dying to a creeper while searching for that emerald. I dug upwards in the only place in the map where I missed a spawner. Needless to say, I didn't get my shield up in time.

    Rotten Gorge:

Yay! Potions! I don't have too much to say about this area but getting potion materials was great. The record disc in this area was also my primary weapon for a long time. Highlight would have to be fighting the first Ghast I would kill. **** was getting real.

    Primeval Woods:

As I mentioned earlier I'm not a fan of big open areas, but I can proudly say that I found all the emeralds without outside help. I had nostalgia back to when I played Canopy Carnage. Highlight of this area is probably the best moment throughout the entire map, so I'll share a quick story... 'I had no idea parrots were in the game, so I was excited to befriend one. So around 5 minutes after I'm hanging out with my new buddy I'm exploring the top of trees looking for loot chests. This is when my parrot mimics a creeper sound, and even though the parrot has done it several times already I got scaredf and fell off the tree... I didn't have Feather Falling on my boots yet, so this was a valuble lesson.' Also, I WANT MY TACOS AND CORN DOGS!

    Corona Chamber:

This area was beautiful, and I'm glad I brewed plenty of fire resistance potions. It was a great relief that after I died in the area, I was able to reclaim my items without losing them to fire or lava. Also, diamonds! The hallway upwards to the next area was awesome, as I felt I was in a bunch of boss fights.

Highlight would have to be the volcano eruption. I was admiring it for so long to the point that lava started to surround me.

    Crying Crystal Redux:

This area was awesome. I love all the custom mobs you had in this area. The spikes of all the ores looked amazing and were fun to climb. One funny experience I had was finding a chest with 16 normal apples in them. I mined a ton of gold blocks hoping to make super apples, but I assume you had the recipe disabled. These gold blocks went on to be the standard building block through the final area. Highlight is the nervousness I felt while collecting diamonds. First time in the map I was truly scared.

SIDENOTE: Intersection 3 had my jaw dropping.

    The Kraken Storm:

Holy hell, this area was great. It was so immersive and I really had the feeling that there was a Kraken trying to gobble me up. I have the most vivid memories of, as I went to destroy the super spawner while the ship burned below me. Highlight is being an idiot and throwing the obsidian shield into a creeper explosion. I'm a really good player.

    The Solar Citadel:

This area was a joy. Hopping from planet to planet was fun. If I had the chance to add anything to the area it would be areas where the levitation effect is applied to you. Also, I wonder how it would look if the shell was Black concrete instead of obsidian. Highlight is traveling to the the core of the sun, and burning. Lots of burning.

    The Deepest, Darkest, Dungeon:

As far as structure, this area was the best. As I mentioned earlier I'm a fan of more traditional dungeons, and this area fit the bill. Highlight is tunneling through the middle of the skeleton sniper towers, and whacking their feet. So satisfying!

    The Black Wool:

The final trial. This area had everything that makes an area good: custom mobs, traps, and it was just plain beautiful. Loved how you exploded the Ghast spawners with the end crystal things. Reminded me of the final trial in vanilla Minecraft. I'm most proud of not dying in this area, no matter how many mobs you threw at me.

Okey Dokey, this took me almost an hour to write to I'm going to wrap things up. I had a great time. For the most part I play multiplayer online games, so after I downloaded the map I prioritized playing this over hanging with my buddies. My brain feels like it is starting to melt and I'm having a hard time thinking of any other notes I want to include.

    QUESTIONS FOR YOU!:

-Which area took the longest to complete?

-Which area are you the most proud of?

-Which area do you wish you did a better job on?

-What map in your collection would be a good follow up?

-When will I get my tacos and corndogs?

Lastly, I feel like I found something that may or may not bother you. Either way I have an eagle eye.

Okey, these are the mods I currently have.

    In Jar

    Minecraft Forge 7.8.9.715
    Optifine_1.5.2_HD_D3
    ReiMinimap_v3.3_06

    In mods folder

    Unoffical Overcast Network Mod 1.5.8

What happens is sometimes when the server I play on (US.OC.TC) switches maps, my game crashes. I tried playing with an unmodified Minecraft.jar and everything works fine... can someone check the report and see if they can find the problem? Thanks.

One last final change, sorry. Now comparing the two, I prefer the first sword pose better. can you change that one thing back? Other than that keep everything from the second on. Sorry for making your job hard.
