I just wanted to know, are you on the side of Dock, or not? State your reasons without flaming.
I currently don't know what side to go with. Notch already has a fine looking model (well, sort of) and it's pretty much the most recognized thing in the game. But then again, Dock seems to be very talented. He seems to know what to do, and he already has some experience (LostWinds series). But his new model doesn't really attract me. I would prefer something a little closer to the source. Or something completely new, not just a miner. In fact, I don't really care who I'm playing as. I could be playing as a Gentleman with a Jetpack strapped to his back, and I wouldn't care how ridiculous that sounds for a mining game. Or any kind of game.
I'm my own thing... Someone who doesn't care about change unless the gameplay is deeply affected.
That's my side of the story. But what's yours? Post about your opinions (Just don't start a flame war!)
Look at dock's prev artwork. All of them are too anime-ish. Too bright, and doesn't fit in minecraft. To be honest:
The player model sucks, like it's marketed to 10 year olds in japan.
The logo sucks. The current one is better.
Dock's style, does not fit in minecraft without turning it into animecraft.

We should have a pention to get rid of mochi :tongue.gif:
In all seriousness mochi your the type that goes "BWAAHHH OMFG CHANGE GET IF OFF ME GET IF OFF ME" Change is something you must constally deal with, when you get griefed do you go "NOOOOO. . .-ragequit-" and never return no. . you repair after disposing of the griefer (im not saying get rid of dock) if you have the game now you can just go back to the old model and all is good. And Notch has stated numerous times that we can change hell, make a awesome minecraft like style with these new models instead of constally whining about it. . .
Just because I don't agree with you?
If you have bought the game now, this doesn't mean that other players will still have the old style. It only means you will. Why? They cannot be transferred. AKA: If I buy the game I will still see other players having new models.
I've tried to come up with one. First idea I had was a gentlemen, with the top hat and all, but that was for a different building game idea I had in mind... A game I call "Gentlemen and Jetpacks". Besides, didn't fit.
Next was something totally different. And still completely unrelated to Minecraft. This time it was just a plain white blocky character, with musical note shaped headphones. Yeah... I dunno if I was thinking about Minecraft, or a music game right then, but I knew it wouldn't make the cut.
Before my final design, I had a young dwarf. He just had a little goatee and some big ol' ears, but besides that, nothing really new. Well, there was already Dwarf Fortress, but I kinda liked it, so I worked on it a bit more and got...
... Whatever that is. Of course, the colors could be replaced with anything, and the nose is completely optional.
Minecraft is kinda hard to work with for characters, so I just went with a miner, with a beard. Nothing too special, but I like it more than Dock's design. I might do some refining later.
What do you think would be a good design for a Minecrafter? Post your ideas or discuss others work.
Thanks for contributing so much to this thread. I don't know what anyone would have done without your amazing insights.
How about posting something that contributes to the discussion instead of hurling random insults?
What is a man? A miserable little pile of insults.
But enough talk... Have at you!
There are many ways to look at 3 dimensional objects! One of them is from a bird's-eye view! Even if it doesn't look three dimensional! The same can be said of the opposite... 2 dimensional drawings can look 3d!

I couldn't think of what exactly to buy, so why not get just cash?

My idea on how I think it should look.
I had many ideas, ranging from people with musical note shaped headphones to old-timey gentlemen, but they didn't fit with Minecraft's theme.

Like, one second it's in with the rest of the particles, and then the next second it's with the blank area that someone dug out.

And, I think that the game is going to be premium only when it's done...
