A whimsical romp through the CtM genre. Most times visually stunning, although there are some obvious brush strokes and spheres in between major areas. From a progression perspective, it's recommended to take the branches in linear fashion, and much food and gear available is to you in the monument room. Unfortunately, the spawn area has a very attractive wall that leads directly to the final area and overpowered gear. The monument materials are unique, and has some clever visual effects.
Personally, the time and effort that I've been putting into different stages of area creation has dramatically changed since I began making my map.
When I first started creation of the map, I spent a ton of time planning every little detail about every area, but when actually making them I didn't put nearly as much effort into them as I do now. Interestingly enough, I now spend much less time planning areas than I used to. Nowadays, I'll usually come up with the general concept for an area and then jump straight into building it. And to be honest, I think that's working better for me. When I make very strict plans, I end up limiting my own opportunities to make an area as good as it can be.
As far as the right time to work on projects, I just work on maps when I feel like it. Sometimes I'll work steadily a few hours a day for a few weeks in a row, sometimes I'll have a huge blowout where I spend 8-10 hours mapmaking in one day (yeah, I know, it's unhealthy), and other times I'll go for over a month without working on anything at all.
And on a slightly unrelated note... I'm off to create my black wool area. Wish me luck.
This is how To Greener Pastures worked out for me, I was extremely rigid about what I wanted to do with the map in the first intersection and then past that I began to just make areas based off a theme or an idea which seemed to work out alright. Then again TGP is a mediocre map at best.
Also hai.
No, but seriously, Uncharted Territory 3 is a good choice. Once you feel comfortable playing again, though, you should at least give RCII a try. In my opinion it's the best CTM ever made. Or you could play all the advent maps that people have been releasing lately, and then move from there to a full map.
Well I was around long enough to make an lp of UT3 ;). Ill defintely have to try out Brock's map and RCII I have heard great things from Dylan. Hows your map coming Sketch?
I want to slowly ease my self back into minecraft after like 4 months of league XD. Anyone have any suggestions on maps to play to get me back into playing again? Preferably and easier map but I dont mind.
Would anyone know a tutorial for how to install all the map making tools in 1.6.4 or 1.7? Havent been able to remeber how to install all the tools for mapmaking ir BC and WE.
I need a solid map to play. I have already beaten Uncharted Territory I II and III. l just finished Legendary and don't have anymore solid ideas. I am looking to do a review on somebody's map(s).
Might want to check out the maps like Dreadsky isles by Drago or possibly To Greener Pastures by myself!
so is this still your play for TGP Skyline Karrot?
I have fallen into the hands of addiction sadly
and it isnt minecraft anymore.
League of legends is basically all I play now and minecraft has taken a back seat.
Wow this map is amazing! But I am more amazed by the fact this map has around 500 more comments than my map although my map was released a month earlier than your's. How did you make it so famous so quickly?
I was involved with a lot of the people over at the Ultimate CTM community thread for a while before release so they definitely helped out with a good portion of the comments :).
