I honestly have no problem with having archeology in the Minecraft. The only problem I have with it is the texture of the brush but it's probably not final yet so yeah. Actually, I don't really have a real or actual complaint so far, aside from one of the flowers in the lush cave possessing a higher resolution than the rest of the block which is weird. Everything else in my opinion is a chef's kiss.

Also, can people stop throwing the term "modded" around? Every update is going to feel "modded" no matter what features that the devs add, do people even want more and new features to the game? Anyway, that's a bit of a mini-rant.

I agree, it gets hard to keep up if you do not play regularly and having weekly snapshots or prereleases makes it impossible to play worlds to completion if you do them.

On the other hand, most people want more content and the team is willing and able to put out superhumanly fast.

I think production will slow down once all major updates wanted are done, with the cave update being among the last ones people talk about a lot.

I guess I wouldn't mind if 1.17 is another bug fixing update with plenty of tweaks here and there.

Okay, I was wrong about pre-release this time. But it seems clear that this update is indeed wrapping up. Some technical changes and tweaks, no new content.

Yea, I guess that's it then. Still sad about the fact that the fortress is not going to be revamped. It's pretty much imo a miss opportunity.

Some nice technical stuff added this update, but it definitely feels like a finishing touch. I still expect pre-release next week.

I'm still hoping for atleast one more curveball feature. It's a bit too soon to enter the bug fixing phase.

I'm really loving this update so far and I'll go over what I like and what I don't like(Which is only a little bit).

    The New Biomes

The Warp Forest: I like the blue-ish atmosphere of this biome. Although this biome is a bit bloated with Enderman and I think the biome could use at least one more mob that is a food source. I also don't like how the warp wart block doesn't degrade and I think they should.

The Crimson Forest: Like the warped forest I really like the red-ish atmosphere of this biome. I don't really have much problem with biome, aside from the fact that the wart block doesn't degrade.

The Soul Sand Valley: Again, I like the atmosphere. However, the Ghast spawns way too frequently in this biome and made it a bit difficult to strive in this biome, the high spawn rate of the skeleton is IMO already enough.

The Basalt Delta: By far my favorite biome in the nether. I love the ash atmosphere that the biome gives. I also really like the general structure of this biome, gives me volcanic remnants vibes.

    The New Mobs

Piglins: I really adore them and I think they have tons of personality base on sounds alone. The bartering system made gold a lot more useful.

Hoglins: I think this mob serves the purpose of being the food source of the nether quite well. I also quite like they're relationship with the piglins.

Strider: IMO, these guys are the MVP! They're ugly in a charming way and that's all I could ever ask for. I really like how they can be used as a nether boat, Mojang seems to take a popular suggestion and do their own twist on it. I have one problem with these guys and that is I wish there is a way to regain the saddle without killing them.

Zoglin: Clearly just here for continuity's sake with the piglins turning into zombified piglins. Not much to say about these guys.

    Misc

The new soundtrack: I really love them and I think they fit in the game quite nicely. The soundtrack gives me the vibes of something had happened in this place and maybe someday the player might uncover(MatPat is going have a blast making theory about the nether). Pigstep is pretty good too and imo surpassed Stal.

Blocks: Not much for me to comment here aside from the fact that I can definitely see myself building with the new blocks. However I think the chain block shouldn't be a 100% solid block, it should be one of those blocks that the player can walk pass through.

Bastion Remnants: I like the structure although a bit hard for me to navigate through and that's probably the point because the structure is supposed to look ruined hence the name Bastion Remnants. I also like the loot that the structure offers.

Ruined Portals: I'm personally ok with the spawn rate of the structure. Not too rare but not too frequent, just about right. Gives the new players an idea that the nether exists and it's up to them to find out how to activate it, without watching a youtube video of course.

Netherrite Sets: Not much for me to comment about them.

    recommendations? which are most stable?

I don't think it matters which shaders are the most stable, you just need a powerful computer.

If your computer is powerful enough then go ahead and install shaders. If not then yea.
