    Whoa whoa whoa... whoa...

    no.

Maybe I just haven't played in a while and don't remember anything but I don't think I had too many problems in the Zisteau Cavern.. it was pretty straight forward. The spot around the button in eternal battle was pretty calm (tbh) looking at the rest of the area. I don't remember getting swarmed there (well, just the potions )

If that was the design for the monsters/areas, then they are both terribly and absolutely flawed.

I dont know about you guys, I just saw that the button is wooden (wow!) so I just shot it and got out pretty quickly (hell even survived the lava somehow with the sliver of health lmao)

Of course Inferno Mines is flawed map (hell there's hardly anything good about it) but no need to call the stuff you failed to understand 'bad' though. That's why everyone leaves tons of signs and books now, people just don't believe that someone will figure out their mechanic on their own lol.

    oh boi
i just want to add in, that maybe you didn't understand what was in vechses mind when he was creating the map (sure, most of the time it probably was nothing) and some of the 'mechanics'. As you can watch in his dev commentary the gameplay around zistykins is 'walk into the proximity range then back off, kill the zistykin and sprint towards the spawner (there's a lot of those eff X pickaxes to let you do it quickly too). You said that you died a lot there but maybe if you took your time on figuring the mechanic it might have been a bit better for you.
The teleporter to get out of Eternal Battle can be shot with an arrow (or enderpearl, which you should have prepared for the last area [also considering you said that there's too much of them]) so you can avoid the rain of death potions after the initial freakout when you get hit by one of them (there's also cows and milk right next to it. take a hint smh).
Can't really talk about Lush Ruins or random items, that surely was tragic. And the difficulty curve is similar to other vechs' maps where he gives you easier areas to let you rest before the storm (aka next area).
That's it for me dude. Nice review.

Thats dissapointing. I was going to make one of those custom crafting things that use a dropper, and then have the player be able to get recipes as loot from fishing. I guess there's still other ways I can do it, for example I could have it fish some useless item like spider eyes (which I could remove from the spider drops) and then they could trade a spider eye for a map from a villager. Still not as cool.

You can make recipes on custom maps item, they actually look pretty cool and add immersion. And I think it might be possible to add to loottable right?

Sorry for the rapid post and screenshot spam, but here's the progress I made on the build tonight. I won't be posting this many screenshots through the whole building of the map, don't worry.

this looks pretty cray-ay, just don't burn yourself out.

I feel like CTMs are becoming less and less focused on the thing that makes Minecraft unique: the sandbox element. I feel like maps nowadays are becoming more and more RPG-CTM hybrids than maps that present the player with a variety of challenging areas that don't dictate a particular type of gameplay

we need more survival based ctms

I would recommend one of the recent masterpieces in CTM: Now That's What I Call CTM. It's one of the most balanced CTM maps I've ever played, and it's a beautiful, fun, and perfectly balanced. I would say it rivals RCIII in its greatness. Overall, you should play it. Because it is the best.

Why did you have to remind me of thaaaaat

    Hey guys, Community Question:

When playing a CTM map nowadays, what do you look for/want to see? Unique use of new features (I snuck a peek at 1.9 and it looks nifty) or more simple, "classic" gameplay design? Huge and sprawling areas with hours of gameplay, or more compact areas? Maps so difficult that you will question your will to live, or ones that are more easygoing? Everyone has different tastes, so I'd like to hear about them. :)

more focus on survival and less fancy areas because they make me depressed.

Hey guys, I'm here again. How long have I been gone?

    honestly not too long

Also armor stands are pretty cool, you can make nifty indicators with them.

Which leads me to a Community Question:

What was the thing that first got you interested in CTM maps?

They actually provided a challenge compared to vanilla Minecraft.

Any feedback on this WIP area? It's supposed to be an old volcano with some lava that people pump and make something from it. I will probably add iron or quartz, more pipes and containers, houses and so on.

replace the glass with colored glass because the texture sucks
