posted a message on Random Spawn point commands not working.

I'm looking to create a SMP Server with the twist that when a player dies they get a new spawn point thousands of blocks away from their old one. I had been digging around to see if I could do this and found a promising design in this video, specifically the first method discussed.

While I could get the armor stand to spawn and move around the specified area as shown in the video (albeit with the command block spamming the chat in a way not seen in the video), I cannot get the 3rd command block to set the player's spawn point to the location of the armor stand despite copying the text of the command block to the letter. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? Is this video simply too old and the command outdated?

posted a message on Random Spawn on Death

The goal is to get the best of both Hardcore Mode Single Player and Anarchy servers. Basically when you first log in you are given a completely random spawn point (generate 2 random numbers between -5 million and +5 million, make those your spawn point x and z, maybe have a system where no two consecutive spawn points can be within a few thousand blocks of each other). Once you're there, it's standard vanilla survival mode Minecraft. If you die (or don't log in for a month) you start again with nothing at an entirely new spawn point. All your old stuff is now up for grabs to the first one who finds it. Yes, PvP is allowed. Yes, you're allowed to murder people to get their stuff. The massive distances and randomness of the spawn points should discourage repeated harassment and give killed players time to prepare in case someone does go looking to kill you again. I realize that this can lead to massive world save files, but I don't care. Maybe this can be done with console commands somehow, I'm not really sure.

Bonus points: If there is some sort of distance-based chat feature where only players within a certain number of blocks of you see what you put in the chat box, maybe with commands like /yell or /whisper to change that number of blocks.

"Well once I can get the door shut, I'll be able to tell you." Jason says, looking at Ashton, "Which means you're going to have to get in before I drive off without you."

    ((Oi, no one-line IC posts))

"Now that's just rude." Jason says, then turning to Ashton, "Besides, you're both on the list, so you aught to hop in too." He motions for Noah to scoot over and make some room.

"Well, I don't have any of that on hand." Jason says, "But if you're willing to take a ride, I've got some pretty sweet stuff."

((That wasn't a mistake, it was done intentionally to make the message inconspicuous.))

Jason turned the corner and saw two people at the bench. He double checked his list, seeing that they were both there. He pulled to a stop at the stop, reaching back to open the back door.

posted a message on Fallout: The Untold Story of the DC Ruins [IC]
After a long while of walking, I reach the entrance of Rivet City. I wave at the guards and they put the bridge out for me. I cross over and head into the marketplace. I trade the water and what caps I have for all the ammo I need. I could always refill the barrel now that the water is flowing at the river. I carry the barrel out with me, passing by a couple of women. "Good afternoon..." I say to them as I pass.
