There is a feud building, let us not deny it.
Minecraft seems two be splitting into two groups, those who like all thing things in the updates, and those who disagree with some or all of the content that has been decided to be added.

Since the confirmation of the horse the pig appreciators now must stand their previously uncontested ground.

The message I am pulling out of this debacle is that Jeb has not been doing his part in making sure Minecraft stays a unique game with a different gaming experience for each player. Most things he adds people debate about. The debate usually ends when one side says "if you do not like what he adds do not use it" This will be impossible for the horse. Even if a player does not chose to use it those who do have an advantage over them, and the Minecraft I know and love does not disadvantage it's players!

Also why add a mob that does not provide an extra use in the game? We already have the faithful pig for all of our transportation needs. Hundreds of games have ridable horses but how many games can you name that have ridable pigs?

Keep Minecraft Unique Please.

There are mods for more mobs. Any one can use them. Try Mo-creatures.

Cows give milk, leather and beef. These are all unique to cows. Unlike having two mobs that do the same thing.

I am at a time in my life were emotions have dulled and joy is dwindling.

I recently thought up a theoretical solution.

The Solution is thus:
Erase my entire memory of Minecraft and re-introduce me to Indev pre Alpha. Follow the path that the updates were originally released but provide me with an update every two weeks. (do not tell me what is included in them) Please never give me creative mode. Allow me to use mods but never inform me of any that can edit my inventory. When I catch up to a point were I can play multiplayer never let me play on servers with spawned in blocks. Also censor my chat to protect me from creative mode. Do not provide me with the pointless items Jeb releases when he updates, stick to a What-would-Notch-do mentality.

Do all that and I would be happy.

Did you not get to go to Minecon in the USA ?

Cannot afford to travel to Europe for coming Minecons?

Well what if us Canadians had our own annual convention for Minecraft?

I am wondering how many people would be willing to participate in any way with a Canadian Minecraft convention. If you support this idea spread the word and comment on this forum.

It peaked at 1.7.3, from then on it has been feeling like everything else is extra.

He did no give up,he is recoding the whole mod.The reason it still says 1.2.5 is that the updates have been so recent and continuous Blak hasn't been able to release a stable build.
SMP is very hard to start coding for, so many more crashes.

I too would pick have a polished version of this mod before a rushed version.

also, back on topic; I myself do not really mind the changes to Minecraft. Heck, I didn't even notice until a few days ago hit-boxes were removed. While I do think Minecraft should 'stay unique', I think minecraft is already unique, with so many things that set it apart from every other game. Minecraft will always have it's oblong-headed, squidward-faced Testificates, and it's leafy-green, anarchistic Creepers, and it's scary, Slenderman knockoff block-thieving Endermen, and so many more. Again, I'm not saying that minecraft isn't fine as it is, but I love having new things every update! I understand that Minecraft is a nostalgic game and what-not, and that everyone will want the old Minecraft.. but as I've said above, (maybe too much,) I love minecraft no matter what. And if horses ruin the fun of Minecraft for you, I'm really sorry. :/

I don't the see the point of adding horses if you can already ride pigs.

But those have a specific purpose. If they did add horses, then speed potions and rideable pigs would be obsolete; and I believe one of Minecraft's quirkiness is that the protagonist rides a pig instead of a cliche'd horse.
