posted a message on Anybody else killing wolves on sight now?
They're friends, and pets. I made a custom tamed skin, unique, and only tamed one. I only take him places that I've got complete control over, and occasionally, we got zombie hunting.

I didn't ever want super-beings that could fight all my battles for me, I just wanted a companion and they're perfect for that.

Of course, due to the whole only-seeing-three-legitimately, I had to hack in a spawner to get him, but that's not the point.

I noticed this with pistons the other day, I had one hooked up to a repeater and if I stood on the actual stone part of the piston, I could fall through it.

grrrr that lemming thing is untrue

Yes, an evil employee of the Disney company made it up, but that's just being pedantic to point it out. It's not relevant to the conversation, he may have been referring to the video game characters, in which case, it would be true, and it's entered pop culture, it doesn't matter if it is true or not. Richard Gere has never had sex with a guinea pig, that doesn't mean it doesn't make a good punchline.

I've still only seen three wolves since they were added. I just let them be.

posted a message on 1.8 should be a bugfix, not an adventure
    It's a Beta.

After 1.8, we’ll have to start crunching for the full release in November. That includes finishing up the mod api, improving stability and performance, adding supporting features like friends lists and a proper server browser, integrating singleplayer and multiplayer, and most importantly fleshing out the gameplay.

It's a Beta. We're beta testers, that's how it was sold to us and what we're supposed to be doing.

You bought the finished game, not this, not Beta 1.7.2, this is a gift, and you're spitting in his face over bugs you haven't even described.

posted a message on Wire-guided Automaton?
I am a Redstone novice so I do not have the skills to properly implement this, but I thought this may provide inspiration to someone more skilled or dedicated than me. If a piston is pushed by another piston onto a block that has energy going to it, it will activate. If a properly advanced mechanism was designed, could this not be used to propel a relatively simplistic automaton down a guided wire, such you might see in an assembly line? I don't know what this could be used for, and it would most likely be a one way trip, but it could, if it works, serve to load TNT cannons, potentially, or activate separate machines.

It's an SMP only problem from what I have heard, sorry. You, if it is your server, or the server runner needs to restart the server to get them to update correctly. I hope this helps.

posted a message on chocolate milk in minecraft
I'd like it if it was a conditional death thing. Beat a cow to death with cocoa beans, you get chocolate milk. That makes it cheap and easy to produce, as well as being comical.

You guys should wrap a candy shell of wood planks around the obsidian and then fill the shell with gravel. It'll get tossed around by the explosions and then sort of self-repair various parts of the shell adjacent to the most recent blasts.

Just an idea. I used to do it when I made Nazi encampments to blow up with the plane mod.

posted a message on NEW PICTURE OF BETA 1.8!
The picture clearly has old style cobblestone and mossy cobblestone, we've known about them since the Pistons video, I wouldn't worry about the mushrooms at this point.

Hmm... To be honest I was expecting it to be a silver fish rather than the insect. The model doesn't really look like either, though.
Hmm, I think the jury is still out on this one. :wink.gif:

You reunited the O.J Simpson jury for this? God, what dedication.

How could anyone doubt that this is an insect and that it is based off the book-eating pest? We have the texture, sunflower did a great sketchup of it and it is clearly the pest.

posted a message on NPC Villages, Giant Mushrooms, Ruins!
The picture of the Ruins uses the new Mossy Cobblestone texture, the picture of the village does not, it is clearly using both the old cobblestone and mossy cobblestone textures, so it is obviously from quite a while ago. I am sure the mushrooms have improved since then. Also note that it uses the old lighting system, clearly placing it as having been taken in a much older build.

But yes, I kind of hate the surface giant mushrooms too. The first addition that I think I might actively dislike.

I don't know how to suggest this without sounding sexist. But didn't the "scary" comment originate with the significant other of Jeb or Notch? I could swear this is true. Females tend to find insects a lot scarier, and that thing does look like it'd be pretty awful to find scurrying in a cave.

Thank you for doing this, it was really interesting to see it like that. I hope it can burrow into houses by eating wood, that'd be awesome. It wouldn't hurt the creative crowd too much if it only did it in one block increments, and creative mode will be returning soon.
