    posted a message on How to Make Custom Mobs and How to Make them Spawn Naturally with Command Blocks
    How to Add Custom Mobs to "Vanilla" Minecraft

    So you want to add a new mob to the game? Want to do it without mods? I have you covered! Make sure you're using 1.9 or 1.10 and please make sure you have cheats enabled =)

    First off, you're going to need to create a custom mob.

    Video for fast and easy knowledge with visuals:

    1. Give yourself a command block.
    2. Summon in your custom mob using a website called MCStacker. Remember, we'll spawn it in naturally later! For now, spawn it in using the summon command.
    3. Continue to step four if you want to add more abilities.
    4. You can put a repeating command block on always active if you want constant effects, use the /execute command from the custom mob to do this. For example:
    5. /execute @e[name=mob] ~ ~ ~ /effect @a[r=5] slowness 1 1 true

    6. If you want more complex and timed abilities, add in a scoreboard objective.
    7. /scoreboard objectives add timer dummy

    8. Constantly add a score to the mob, and when it hits a certain amount, activate an ability and set the score back to zero.
    9. /scoreboard players add @e[name=mob] timer 1

      /execute @e[name=mob,score_timer_min=600] ~ ~ ~ /summon Spider

      /scoreboard players set @e[name=mob,score_timer_min=600] timer 0

    So now you've set up your mob with all the custom abilities you want, it is time to
    Make your mob spawn in the wild!

    Video for fast and easy knowledge with visuals:

    The code for this is at the bottom of the instructions! The instructions are simply there to explain what the machine does!

    1. Give yourself a command block.
    2. Add a counter objective.
    3. Count the number of zombies (or any other mob of your choice) there are in the world.
    4. When this score exceeds a certain number, activate a line of repeating conditional commands.
    5. Tag a random zombie (or mob of your choice) with a name, and give all zombies a found tag.
    6. Teleport the named zombie into the void and replace it with your custom mob using the /summon command.
    7. You can even add a command at the bottom which tags zombies close to the player with the found tag, to stop custom mobs from spawning in your face!
    Code Can Be Found Here

    #Legend:
    INIT = Adding a scoreboard.
    R = Repeating Command
    COND = Condition Command

    ###

    INIT: /scoreboard objectives add count dummy

    R: /scoreboard players set counter count 0

    /execute @e[type=Zombie,tag=!found] ~ ~ ~ /scoreboard players add counter count 1

    /scoreboard players test counter count 5

    R:COND: /entitydata @r[type=Zombie,tag=!found] {CustomName:"spawn_ghast",CustomNameVisible:1,Tags:[found]}

    /execute @r[type=Zombie,tag=!found] ~ ~ ~ detect ~ ~-1 ~ sand -1 /entitydata @e[type=Zombie,c=1,r=0] {CustomName:"spawn_giant",CustomNameVisible:1,Tags:[found]}

    /entitydata @e[tag=!found] {Tags:["found"]}

    R: /execute @e[name=spawn_ghast] ~ ~ ~ /summon Ghast
    /tp @e[name=spawn_ghast] ~ -512 ~

    R:/execute @e[name=spawn_giant] ~ ~ ~ /summon Giant
    /tp @e[name=spawn_giant] ~ -512 ~

    R: /execute @a ~ ~ ~ /scoreboard players tag @e[type=Zombie,r=16] add found

    Amazing idea and beautifully executed! I noticed a few things and I made a few changes to your setup to fix the bugs:

    /execute @e[type=Bat,name=Venomflyer] ~ ~ ~ execute @e[name=Vampire,type=Skeleton,r=2] ~ ~ ~ playsound mob.zombie.remedy @a ~ ~ ~ 2 0.75

    /scoreboard players add @e[name=Vampire] mcrture_vampire 1

    /tp @e[name=Vampire,type=Bat,score_mcrture_vampire_min=300] ~ ~-10000 ~

    /execute @e[type=Bat,name=Vampire,score_mcrture_vampire_min=298] ~ ~ ~ particle largeexplode ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 0.5 1

    /scoreboard players add @a mcrture_vampire 1 {Inventory:[{id:"minecraft:ghast_tear",tag:{ench:[{id:51,lvl:1}]}}]}

    /tell @a[score_mcrture_vampire_min=2,score_mcrture_vampire=2] You have contracted vampirism. Name a bone 'Undead Last Rite' to build immunity against the disease.

    /effect @a[score_mcrture_vampire_min=3] speed 1 1

    /effect @a[score_mcrture_vampire_min=3] hunger 1 1

    /execute @e[type=Skeleton,name=Vampire,score_mcrture_vampire_min=598] ~ ~ ~ particle largeexplode ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 0.5 1

    scoreboard players set @e[type=Skeleton,name=Skeleton] BatKilled 0

    Fixes:

    - Venomflyers now only turn one skeleton instead of all the ones near it

    - Venomflyers are no longer killer by already turned vampires

    - Various things to the nbt (cannot remember)

    NOTE: These need to be placed in the correct positions around the redstone block clock or else it will not work.

    Please thank and give credit if I helped :)

    Hmm... that's odd. This doesn't happen to me. Do you have the latest version? Thanks for the fix by the way!

    I am having a major issue. Ever since I have installed the Vanilla Mobs, I will begin to start to get massive lag spikes. Whenever this happens, I press F3 and the "All" counter is hitting the roof, meaning a metric buttload of entites are being spawned. Afterwards, I type /testfor @e and notice there is a massive amount of FallingSand entities. After killing all of these, the lag seems to be solved for a few minutes before the problem repeats itself.

    Any help, please?

    Did you get the vertical structure or the horizontal structure?
    If you installed the vertical structure, I suggest destroying it and replacing it with the horizontal structure.

    If that is not the case, type /kill @e[name=Wisp] because the likely cause of lag could potentially be too many Wisps in your world. There numbers will go down over time as you explore your world more.

    The Wisps spawn falling sand which despawn instantly so there shouldn't be more than 4 falling sand entities per wisp.

    can you explain how you got the mobs in more creatures to spawn naturally it would help me a lot :)

    Vampire:
    A bat comes into contact with a skeleton. The bat is deleted to stop it from spawning to many vampires. The execute command is used to change the entitydata of the skeleton, so it becomes a vampire.

    Mage:
    Same as vampire but with a zombie.

    Ogre:
    Same as mage but instead of a bat, a rabbit executes the command.

    Upcoming creatures:
    Demon:
    Made when a chicken executes a command relative to a baby pig zombie (so, every time a chicken jockey is spawned in the nether, it will become a demon).

    Monkeys:
    Zombies detect for leaves underneath them, if the zombie is ''young'' enough, the entity data of the zombie will change so it becomes a monkey.
