We have started a new TU15 game where we are trying to create a city. There were two villages that weren't too far apart, so we thought that we could grow the two villages towards each other until they joined. We started off adding some fairly normal houses, then a big one for us, and then some two- and three-story row houses. Everything is contained within a cobblestone wall, and well-lit.
At first we seemed to get some more villagers, and fairly quickly an iron golem. However, the villagers don't ever seem to leave the original town center - they don't really enter the new section of town at all. We even chopped off some of the doors in the far side of town hoping it would cause the center of town to shift, as indicated by the villagers congregating in the new area.
And there don't seem to be any more villagers.
Can the center of a village in an xbox minecraft village be shifted by adding houses with more doors?
We have a TU13 game with a railroad system, which uses some stations. These are using the dip design, which you can find in various posts and YouTube tutorials. The stations worked great in TU13, but after the TU14 update, the minecarts often will not start up again when you press the button for the next station or to return. The powered track lights up, but the mine cart doesn't move. Certain stations have this issue very repeatably.
Did something change in the mine cart physics? Maybe the carts are going too far into the station or something, though they still LOOK like they are on the downward sloped powered track.
Played some in TU14 way too late last night, well, this morning. I'm wondering about whether there is any way to get carrots and potatoes in an existing TU13 game? We've put a lot of work into our game, fixing up and protecting multiple villages, building railroads and houses, etc. but it seems like the only way to get carrots and potatoes is to start a new game. I saw a thread in the PS3 section about it, saying the they will appear in villages and boxes, but only in new games. Seems like they would have thought about introducing them into existing games, maybe by having one of the mobs randomly drop them.
I guess if there's no other way we can go into creative mode and seed some, but we have so far avoided having to do anything like that.
Just like to go on record that this is a huge issue for me. Carrots and potatoes are definitely a cool new addition to the xbox version, but they're almost useless if they don't appear in existing games upgraded from TU13. We have a great game going with multiple protected villages, railroads, houses we've added to the villages, etc. we can't abandon all that just to get some produce! :-)
We worried about the villagers (would they get updated to have jobs and trading), but all those pre-existing villagers DID get upgraded - which is good. They could easily have upgraded some of the village farms to have carrots and potatoes like a village in a new game would have, or randomly thrown a few into loot boxes in the world, or had the zombies (especially zombie villagers) drop them randomly. If this is not the case, put me in record as strongly requesting this as a patch. Of course, if it takes as long as TU14 did...
This is related to the other recent post asking if MC had become boring to people. My wife and I started recently, on the xBox, and then moved on to the hard core stuff on PC :-). Posts in both threads point out all the myriad of things you can do to make/keep the game interesting, if you have some imagination and want to. Just M2C.
Update: before I gave up, I'd gotten to a spot in the nether that corresponded to 4300, 8300 in the overworld.
Is is possible for a seed's nether to have ZERO fortresses?
If we force MC to regenerate the nether, will that give us a different chance of there being fortresses (due to Generate Structures being on), or not? Is it predetermined by the seed? Inquiring minds want to know!
Thanks,
Casamir
Ps: why does the post icon now have a diamond? Or is that a tear? :-)
Is anyone else playing the "Youtube" seed? We looked for quite a while (for us :-) for a good seed that would have villages, temples, etc., and have been having a great time playing this one in the overworld. We've stabilized the two nearest villages, put a fence around the nearest one, explored two temples and built a great house and enchanting cottage. So finally we found enough diamond to make the diamond pickaxe, mined some obsidian, and off we go to the nether.
Very, very disappointing. We went everywhere we could get to without swimming in lava, but didn't find anything of interest before getting blown up by ghasts.
So we read up on the nether. Everyone says just walk far enough in any direction (but maybe more likely if E/W) and you'll find one. So we decided to try a different spot. We made a trek to a spot in the overworld at least 1024 blocks away from our first port, and set up a second portal. Sure enough, we're in a new location in the nether, but still no nether fortress!
Tonight I set up a new game in creative mode with the same seed, built a portal and went flying through the nether for quite a while STILL not seeing anything. When I made a portal to come back into the overworld, I was at 900, 7300 so I know that I sent a pretty good distance in the nether (yes, I read about the 1/8 scaling).
So, has anyone played the Youtube seed far enough to get into the nether, and if so, did YOU find a nether fortress, and if so, where?
Thanks,
Casamiir
PS: I should have mentioned: We're running MC 1.6.4.
