posted a message on How Do You Store All Your Things In the Vanilla?

Currently a work in progress, but I keep every single farm possible in the Overworld within this underground hub. Items are sorted into storage cellars beneath each farm corresponding to what the farm produces (via the four dark oak stairways you see). There are two layers - top layer collects items from the farm, bottom layer holds all other items/blocks that aren't collectible by a farm (clay/glass, for example).

When it's all done I'd love to post a finished look, but that won't be for another few months at least (because lol tree farm). Currently still have to do animal farms and some other strange farms (mushrooms, for example). Also, aesthetics are obviously not finished and not all blocks/items have chests yet.

The aim was less for efficiency and more for creativity, though I think it's efficient enough in most departments, given everything is automatic. Besides, this is Minecraft - I can always make another storage unit in the future if I so desire.

posted a message on My Survival World

I also prefer sticking to just one world. After all, if I want to relive the "first days in survival" experience, I can just go really far away and start over somewhere else.

Cute house! Personally I don't like looking at cobblestone at all, which is why I'm quite thrilled you took the stone brick approach with your new design. Do whatever you want - let your creativity flourish! Have fun with everything.

posted a message on Which is your favorite wood planks type?

I enjoyed spruce until dark oak was released, and I have since redone almost everything in dark oak. I quite like it, probably because it's dark.

posted a message on Small Elegant Bridge

I am especially enticed with the many uses of stairs, and thus I find appreciation in this detailed design! I do agree that encasing the interior with upside-down stairs would help complete the fullness of the look, but otherwise the aesthetics, particularly from afar, look -elegant- and cozy!

what is that tan colored block in your path infront of the bridge on the ground?

That is a grass path - a new block added in 1.9. It is unobtainable in survival, instead being created by right-clicking grass with a shovel.

posted a message on [in progress] Starlight HQ 2.0 (survival base)

Greetings, to all future friends, enemies, lovers, and haters alike. I have been among you anonymously, but I am enticed to now be apart of a growing community, and am looking forward to sharing some of my creations with you. I will be examining the artwork of others as well, as I do enjoy the essence of creativity and how that other people express it.

Some context: On June 12, 2013, I started a survival world titled "Techtropolis." This world began as a LP series that ultimately died due to persistent lag, given the exponential growth of the world. However, I continue to build within in to this day, developing something I intend to be beautiful. I will share some screenshots of my main base, cumulatively titled "Starlight Headquarters," as well as some appropriate context to accompany the screenshots.

History is quite important to me, so I will first show you the first version of the base, originally titled "Starlight Castle 1.0," since it was purely just a castle. I later changed it to "Starlight HQ" since I eventually had plans to further develop the land surrounding it.

NOTE: You may have to zoom in on your browser to catch all the features within some of the screenshots.

Starlight HQ v1.0 consisted solely of the basic farmlands and a four-story castle, which included a partially-decorated 360 bedroom, a giant UFO balcony, and a glass dome to top it off. It was mostly empty and only partially complete, given I had future plans. However, it was the bare minimum of what was needed in a survival world, and thus I dubbed it as the first complete version, on December 1, 2013.

    Starlight HQ 1.0

Interior Highlights - I'll show you some of the complete parts of the original castle, to give you a feel of it:

I do have a library with screenshots from every room, but I instead encourage you to skip through this video for an interactive look at the first version. I talk too much, which is why I'll say skip through it so you can see it:

Starlight HQ 1.5 spiced up Techtropolis in many needed ways. It was the first truly complete version, given it added the Power Museum (consisting of two mob farms, an enchantment tower, and an automatic farm hub), a train station for accessing other parts of the world, two parkour courses, and a plethora of other amenities to make things more interesting. This version was completed on November 7, 2014.

There is also an interactive video tour of this version as well. For contextual purposes, given as though this isn't the place to advertise this, throughout the first ten minutes are clips from the original LP this world was built upon. I won't advertise it explicitly, but you are always welcome to have a look at it (it started and ended in 2013). Again, I do talk a lot, so feel free to skip around and check everything out:

Starlight HQ 2.0 is not yet complete. I was never satisfied with v1.5 because it still looked amateur in many ways, specifically regarding the obscenity that is ugly torches. So, with v2.0, I've changed almost everything and added more than twice the amount of stuff. I'll share just a few screenshots - enough to tease some of its goodness - because I'm quite proud of what the result is becoming. I won't tell you any of what's new (because I'll do that when it's finished :P), but I figure I'll make notice of it purely for anticipation purposes, given how much work I've put into it. A video tour will be available for this version too, when it's complete.

Thanks for your interest in my work, and I look forward to seeing the creations of others as well!! Any and all feedback is welcome, for I will likely continue to develop this base indefinitely. Notably, any criticisms will be taken into consideration for the completion of v2.0, as I'm aiming for an explosive transformation (I'll update with development screenshots as I see fit). When this iteration is complete, a library of additional screenshots, a video tour, as well as a world download (still considering) will be available. :)

Figured I'd make this an authentic introductory post. I look forward to being part of the community. Thanks in advance.

    ~ Joey
