posted a message on Looking for a specific Minecraft clone video
I remember a year ago, there was an impressive multicolored lighting demo of a pc minecraft clone.

I don't remember the name of the clone, or the titles of the videos.... but basically it was a very HD clone with the guy placing several multicolored, rectangular lights and showing how the colors blended.

Anyone think this sounds familiar? Know where the video is? I'd like to see how the project advanced, if it did at all.

It's not a bug. Not all entities are currently implemented by Little Blocks. Some entities work, some don't and I have no idea which. Full compatibility with other mods would be nice but can't be expected when you have three different sets of coders all doing things their own way. For the minute, until VengeurK adds it, it's just something you'll have to live with, unfortunately. :(

You don't know what you're talking about. It used to work in older versions, and for me this bug persists in ALL entities, including chests which work on the video. Therefore, I think it is some sort of bug and I don't know if others can reproduce it.

Absolutely ;) Just open up your server.properties and look at the line for "base-player-size". If you use this:
    base-player-size=0.125

That will cause all newly-connecting players to start out at 1/8 scale. Or use 0.25 for 1/4 scale, 0.5 for 1/2 scale, etc.

that is awesome! Now I'm making a server where I want visitors to be absolutely fooled into thinking everything, like their size, is normal using Little Blocks

I was wondering if you could have a setting that less accurately depicts size and proportions for smaller characters?

for example, making it so that gold armor effect can be default and doesn't require gold armor. the acceleration due to gravity (when jumping) is proportional to height? the same goes for held or dropped items appearing normally too (for now).

Can I set up a default size on the server for people to be when they log in the first time?

for certain reasons I may want to force everyone to be small :)

I found a bug. Trying to use a crafting bench in LBB, or a regular crafting bench on a side that borders a LBB, causes the crafting screen to only flash, being unusable.

Additionally, no one can seem to figure out how to remove a LBB that has already been placed in survival mode.

I haven't tested the new version excessively yet, but when using Gulliver's mod, torches were solid and things like stairs did not have the right hit-boxes, making them worthless.

This is looking very good so far! If you could fix that modloader incompatibility with multiplayer, I would be thrilled!

Additionally, the running and jumping and stuff IS useful if you are small, but can you make that a configurable option? If using tinyblocks, for example, it'd be a much better idea to have normal walking speed and jumping height relative to your size.

Then why do you do it?

Because it's my job. I get paid for it and I'm quite good at it.

I find it annoying seeing so many topics on this site from people going "MAKE GAME NEED CODER" all the time, without realizing what a commitment that is. And expecting it to be done free or for fun is unlikely at best.

Now, not ragging on any artists. I'm sure much work goes into what they do, I've tried my hand at both writing and art (textures, models, etc) and they can be amazingly deep fields, but I just don't see that depth from you.

tldr; your proposal is shallow. You never even presented an idea for what kind of game you want and what art you've done. No portfolios? Since you're looking for people, you're obligated to show your credentials first.

Publicity, a chance at some money, and a good project to have in your portfolio is all i can guarantee but i'm hoping that even if the game sucks we'll have some fun.

    Artists have fun.

    Writers have fun.

    Musicians have fun.

Coding is not that much fun.

I will write the story, dialogue, do some of the art, and supervise. Your pay will depend on how successful the game is and Rixy is a really good artist that i hope will give us a lot of help in our sales. But most of all i will only hire you if i feel i can trust you.

So I have to do all the hard stuff and the pay isn't guaranteed.

    Huh.

    Hey.

I need a coder to help me and (maybe) rixy make a game. No current ideas but the reason for that is that i want you to help me come up with an idea that will inspire you and keep you with me. I want to make a game similar to Castle Crashers, Minecraft, and some RTS but that's not for sure so just tell me if you could code a game.

I can code well in several languages. The question is, since I'm being asked to do it for free, what exactly are you contributing to this project? What's to say I don't like your arrangement and, assuming you actually have a decent idea, run off with it to make my own game that I could profit from?
