    Thanks for keeping this pack going, I've been playing with it since v0.86.

    I just came back to the game after a break and found that the powered rails look wrong. Only the ones going at an angle. Sorry if someone has already pointed this out.

    screenshot attached

    After some testing, I would guess you are running the wrong version of the JSL pack, the 1.9.2 and the 1.8.9 packs are not interchangeable and you will get issues when using the 1.9.2 pack on Minecraft versions older then 1.9.0.

    I can see you have a mini map so you are playing modded which I would guess is 1.8 or maybe even 1.7, the way the packs changed so much over Minecraft versions you have to get the right pack for the Minecraft version.

    CTM Log faces are rotated wrongly in the West and South directions (the texture is rotated 90 degrees when it should be rotated 270 degrees), this only seems to effect cube_column blocks like logs, other CTM like glass displays fine.

    Resource Pack - John Smith Legacy JSC v1.2.1
    OptiFine Version - Optifine 1.9.2 HD U B1

    This is still not fixed in OptiFine 1.9.2_HD_U_B2, the West and South directions now only display the standard log texture (not the CTM textures).

    Here what's in the wood_oak_log_end.properties files:-

    matchBlocks=minecraft:log:variant=oak
    faces=top bottom
    tiles=0-46
    method=ctm

    Now I noticed the 'top' and 'bottom' are not effecting all the faces in all the directions.

    If I just put 'faces=top' I only get the CTM in the east direction and if I put 'faces=bottom' this CTM is only in the north direction.

    'faces=top bottom'

    'faces=top'

    'faces=bottom'

    EDIT: I finally found another person with this issue a few pages back, and it seems that the issue is due to refusing to install things into AppData (which can **** off). So those like me who don't like installing things to AppData for various reasons... you're just gonna have to wait for a workaround.

    Alright, so I decided to install optifine today. Sure, no problem thinks me. I'll just do what I did back in 1.8 and everything will be peachy!

    Yeah, it's not. I am doing everything properly (No magiclauncher no forge none of that stuff. Just the manual installation) and every single time I try to play the game it redownloads the JAR and completely wipes optifine out.

    Trying this with 1.9.2 jar with the 1.9.2 HD U B1 version. Last attempt was with the B2 version which made no difference.

    Did something change in how to do this manually from 1.8? How do I prevent/circumvent/shoot it dead?

    And before anyone gets any funny ideas: as a principal I refuse to use third party programs in order to launch games. So no fancypants launchers or modloaders for me. Don't bother to suggest it.

    I like to keep my files separate from the OS and never install games on the C drive as it makes Windows backups too big.

    OptiFine expects Minecraft to be installed in the default location but you can use a simple batch file to install OptiFine.

    You can make a batch file (optifine.bat) to install OptiFine if Minecraft is stored in a different directory, this is a batch file I made.

    The first two lines are variables, the file name for the OptiFine version you have downloaded, and the directory path for where you have Minecraft installed, the rest is to set the data path and run the JAVA Runtime Environment to install OptiFine.

    This uses JAVA that's installed by the official Minecraft Launcher, so no extra JAVA is required.

    It may look complex but this is just a simple dos batch file and it should be easy enough for you to follow.

    set "optifine=OptiFine_1.9.2_HD_U_B2"
    set "location=D:\Games\Minecraft\"
    set "appdata=%location%"
    start %location%\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe -jar %optifine%.jar

    Well thanks for the help but it's still too dark. Cheers.

    Maybe trying one or all of these would help:-

    • Increase the Gamma in your Graphic card settings.
    • Increase the monitor brightness.
    • Increase the monitor contrast.

    Damn, that's much appreciated. I was just thinking of somehow copying the art for the vanilla Minecraft GUI and replacing the ones in the resource park. I've done that before (replaced the Beacon's beam of light with the original and changed the glowstone art as well) and was hoping it would be a similar process.

    I've made some lighter GUI elements, I've included them in the Alternatives download on the main page.

    So is there a way to do this?

    They are dark but they're not black, they have a chalkboard texture.

    I'll see what I can do at the weekend to make you a custom GUI set..

    well if you arent aware theres 3 john smith legacy sites D: and 1 has that 64 bit updated to 1.9 but they did add a few of the 1.9 textures aswell :L
    this is so complicated how many fan continousations there are

    There are only two official sites:-

    http://js-legacy.net/ - 64px Vanilla and the Modded game JohnSmith Technician's Remix (JSTR)

    https://www.johnsmithlegacy.co.uk/ - John Smith Legacy for Vanilla Minecraft.

    My work and the work of the modded textures are posted all over the place on these resource pack type site, sometimes they edit the packs to add stuff but the only place to get the official JSL packs are the two sites listed above.

    Does this pack have custom sounds or plans to also i was debating making a "John Smith Patrimony" it would be a 128 and 256 upscaling and maybe 512 aswell.

    also why is there TWO John smith legacy packs? 32 and 64 bit?
    with two different websites or im assuming 2 separate fan community's?

    Only one custom sound in the pack (levelup from an earlier version of Minecraft), I also believe the vanilla sounds are just right for the game so have no plans for any other sound at the moment.

    John Smith Legacy for Vanilla Minecraft is a 32px pack, a 64px version was started on the JSLegacy site but is a little out of date and is stuck in the 1.7.x version of the game.

    My site only covers the Vanilla game when the JSLegacy site is more for the Modded game.

    I think the game just looks right at 32px textures, it also makes the game run good on less powerful systems and I believe higher pixel depth doesn't add anything to the game, plus it's a lot harder and more time consuming to make higher pixel depth textures.

    The pixelised look of Minecraft is a design choice and John Smith Legacy keeps to that tradition.

    If you mean the two versions on my site, John Smith Legacy is the more traditional John Smith Style, JimStoneCraft Edition (JSC), uses the smooth cobblestone, ores and lots of other personal tweaks to virtually all the textures.

    It's the pack I personally play with and some people asked if I would post it so I did.

    Also happens with Glass and the Furnace / Piston and basicially any rotate-able block.

    After some more testing it doesn't effect up and down faces though.

    You should be able to choose the installation folder in the installer screen

    is this 1.9.2 yet?

    Yes it is, there were no texture changes in 1.9.0-1.9.1 so the version on my site may say 1.9.1 but it works with 1.9.2 fine.

    I have attached a screenshot to show what I mean, using the default texture pack. It would be nice if the dirt path had the path texture on its side, making paths over hills more continuous.

    I guess this would be a great addition to Better Grass (Grass top texture used on the sides of Grass blocks).

    Here's my featured request that I hope sp614x could add to OptiFine.

    Better Grass (already in there)
    Better Grass Path
    Better Podzol
    Better Mycelium

    This would make the Mushroom Island blend more and the others too.

    Edit: It works for the TiCon books, but the text in Agricraft's Agricultural Journal is way too small and impossible to read.

    Under the Language menu, try the Force Unicode Font: ON to see if that makes any difference, if not I'm not sure what to do.

    The Universal pack (JSTR_Universal_1.7.x - v0.1.17) on the JS Legacy page do not have the fixed fonts.

    http://js-legacy.net/jstr-modded/

    Download the vanilla pack on the site below and see if the fonts work, if they do you will have to open the zip for the universal pack and remove the minecraft directory and replace it with the latest version, the version in the Universal pack is a little out of date (John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.22, latest release is John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.24).

    JSTR_Universal_1.7.x - v0.1.17\assets\minecraft

    Sorry I can't make the easier as I don't look after the modded game, only vanilla.
