A collection of tweaks to the default Minecraft textures. It's not intended to be a totally original texture pack, just an improvement/modification of a few things I'd like to see changed. I made it because although I've enjoyed checking out a lot of great texture packs, I think the original textures are essentially good, and I just wanted to make some relatively minor changes.

Up for that. Make it able to move all stacks of that particular item if you hold ctrl+shift. So if you have 4 full stacks of dirt and you want to move it into your storage box, you press shift+ctrl+click on one of the stacks and they all move.

    Lovely.

I was thinking shift-clicking would always move the hold stack by default. Needing to just move some would be much less common, and you could just split the stacks as desired in your inventory, then shift-click the stacks you're going to move.

Also, since Notch has a thing for simplicity I figured just adding 1 extra key option would be simpler than 2.

The most tedious thing I find in Minecraft is inventory management. This is especially bad when doing things like moving many stacks (or unstackable items such as pork) in and out of chests.

This could be made much less painful with a simple change: holding shift while clicking an item moves it in to the first available square in the other inventory area instead of picking it up. So when I go to deposit a large amount of stone or other materials in a storage chest I would just hold shift and click on each item I want to move in to the chest. Or the same for removing from the chest. This could also work with furnaces, workbenches and in your 2x2 crafting area, though the main useful area is with chests.

posted a message on Redstone project ideas
So I'm pretty happy with my stone keep and courtyard and have turned my attention from large building projects to devices/mechanisms made with redstone. First I tried a (perhaps not-so) simple experiment of making a door that it controlled from either side with 2 switches that always work regardless of the other's position. It turned out to be much more fun to build than expected, and now I'm eager for more redstone projects.

The main problem is that I'm not sure what to make. I looked at the Minecraft wiki for ideas, but nothing jumped out at me. Anyone have any good ideas to suggest to build with redstone? Or is there a thread on the forum of redstone project ideas or examples?

posted a message on Redstone-controlled door with 2 simple switches
This worked out great, and the XOR gate worked too. Thanks for the help!

First I did some basic testing in my castle courtyard to make sure it worked: http://jerekdain.com/images/minecraft/r ... ches-1.jpg

Then I went to try to make a more difficult version where the circuitry would all be hidden below ground. However, I wanted the switches to be directly next to the door on the right side. I had found in my initial testing that that wouldn't work because then the switches will power the door regardless of what the redstone circuit is concluding, so I had to move them over, but I still wanted them close. So I ended up making them 1 block from the door, but this meant that the redstone torches above the switch blocks were exposed, so I would have to build an overhang out from the building I wanted (a fancy entrance to my new mining shaft, complete with , minus the corny video). While not ideal, I ran with it. Trying to build it below the floor/ground was trickier than I thought, making the sides very chunky as I tried to maneuver all the redstone wiring. I had some issues and had to install a couple repeaters, though later I found that I was also having issues from an accidentally broken connection, so the repeaters are probably completely superfluous. But it finally all worked! It didn't turn out to be as easy to hide as I hoped, even building most of it under ground. But being proud of completing my first major redstone mechanism I decided that instead of hiding it I would showcase it all with glass so that you could see the circuit as you moved through the now-cramped hallway: http://jerekdain.com/images/minecraft/r ... ches-2.jpg

Once I finished placing torches around the completed redstone areas and sealing it off I realized I should have just had the switches activate a single redstone wire that went underground to where the initial part of the XOR/XNOR gate could start, which would have making the whole thing MUCH easier to both construct and hide, and would have naturally reversed the orientation making it simpler to attach to the door at the end. But ah well, I'll save that for next time. For now I'm making this a showcase of my first redstone circuit success. :tongue.gif:

I've been searching for pages or YouTube videos on this with no luck or confirmation of it being impossible. Is it possible to have a door opened from two different switches, with each one toggling the door regardless of the others' state? (Another way of putting it - the door is always in one state when the torches are both on or both off, and always in the other state when they differ.) is very close to what I'm trying to achieve, except that I want each switch to work at all times, not have one of them "lock". How can this be done?

Sounds like a problem with how Minecraft handles reading the mouse input having issues with the virtualization software. I've had similar problems when trying to play games remotely from other comps and such. See if there are any mouse-related hardware settings you can change in your virtual pc software.

Now supports textures for tilesets up to 256x256. Since your HD Texture is 256x256 you should be able to use this to fix those problematic textures and get back to work as you mentioned!

I really hope to see a finished product of this texture. It's my favorite one I've seen on here, so please keep working on it! I'm rooting for you!

This worked! But wow is it slow. Low single digits FPS slow. Which is unexpected since nick's YouTube video looked like he had fine framerate, and I have a pretty nice comp with a good graphics card. Maybe something in that patcher that doesn't work so well in general or with high res textures packs?

Edit: My normal framerate if I turn off the framerate cap can hit 200.
