The problem is not he colored glass (I made a mod : P),
It's the fact that It's nearly impossible to make colored light.
I hope some changes in 1.3 will change it bak like it was in the beta.
It would be awesome to have it for vanilla, but since Jeb and his team are busy with MANY other things, I don't think we'll see this before 1.5. So, meanwhile, we can still manage to make a mod.
I am willing to help for the making of this mod. I have a few ideas as to how to make it, and make it as light as possible. (example : Instead of using one texture for each color of glass, using a "tint texture" that overlays with the glass texture, kind of like how grass is color (and even wood, now, I believe))
Damage values.
It's all about damage values with wool and wood. Tinting the glass like grass would not work very well.
Sure I'll help, but I'd rather not be the main programmer. It is going to be a huge effort, and I'd like to focus on my own project. But if you do find a coder, I'd be happy to help designing the system.
48 different channels of light would add quite a bit of complexity to redstone devices, don't ya think
I hope we can mod that light sensor soon, I'm really looking forward to having it in my mod.
Unfortunately though, our main coder is MIA so progress on the mod has grinded to a halt.. we could use a few people who know a thing or two about performance and coding..
Why add so many things the mod doesn't need? Don't let it be like redpower with the content. If it isn't related to the mods main feature, don't add it. Make it as a separate mod. Also, WHERE IS THE CYAN?
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH.
This isn't the ADD forum, this is a thread about colored glass.
No going off topic please FHD.
Also the cyan is in there, you missed it. It's right underneath peach
Speaking of colored light, In my mod we are planning on adding at least 16 more dye colors into the mix, 32 max.
Here are a few wool colors made by one of the users on the ADD forum, Jakest123.
In order by row"
1. Red-orange: Yellow-orange: Yellow-green: Green (vanilla's green will be renamed dark green)
2. Indigo: Lavender: Maroon: Cobalt-blue
3. Goldenrod: Seaweed-green: Blue: Fuchsia (vanilla's blue will be renamed dark blue)
4. Grey-beige: Grey-violet: Beige: Dark brown
That brings the total amount of colors to 32.
We have some other colors in mind as well,
A light "Banana yellow",
Peach (for coloring skin tones!),
Cyan (current cyan wool is actually teal, not cyan, Cyan is this color. vanilla's cyan will be renamed teal.)
A darker orange
A darker, "Bubble gum pink"
Burgundy (between red and maroon)
And a gray between the current vanilla gray, and light gray. (Vanilla gray could be renamed "Dark gray)
Do you think adding all these colors to the lighting system would be possible? Or would the additional amount of colors cause too much strain on computers?
Clouds made from special blocks which you can walk over and sticks made of gold where you can break a cloud block with so it becomes an air sword which has a huge durabillity.
Structures: Airships and cloud city`s with angels as citizens which you can only hit with an air sword. Angels will have air sword to defend themselves. Angels will only attack if you attack them first and if you attack one all angels in a reach of 50 blocks will attack you.
Angels sometimes drop special cloud armor which is extremely strong. Angels are of course hard to beat cause they can fly.
This are some ideas for a new dimension but there could be added more things i think.
As Edo said, our dimensions are already set in stone. But some of your ideas(the airships in particular) might fit nicely in our current sky dimension, The Zenith
There are some good things that come from orientational placement like pistons, but many annoyances as well.
Slabs, which are already have to be placed a certain way on blocks to be on the top or bottom, would become ridiculously annoying to place when adding a sideways slabs to the mix.
In fact, there would be several different placements for sideways slabs alone. You would be adding 4 different placement options (directly in front of the block, a halfslab away from the block, to the left of the block, to the right of the block) in addition to the 2 we already have (top of the block bottom of the block)
Having 6 different placement options for one block would be extremely confusing/annoying/frustrating.
It would likely be better if we had a separate block for sideways slabs.
Well, I wasn't saying anything against your or his project.
Just wanted to show that the designs are similar, not the ways they work.
I think that somebody who suggested it on your forum based the design on this project while just looking at random mods on this forum. You should at least ask the guy who suggested it on your forum, if he really based it on the other guy's project.
It was most likely purely coincidental. We were discussing lodestone as a possible addition to the game. I suggested using magnets in redstone devices in some way. And we were discussing piston "Upgrades" as well.
It was only natural that someone would come up with the idea for a "Magnetic piston".
The 2 ideas a similar in name only, other than that they are completely different. I'm the one who further refined the idea, and I've haven't even seen that mod until now. I never really go on the modding forum anyway.
There is, it is used by things such as tinting grass and leaves for biomes, or ambient occlusion. The problem is, this only works in case you actually want to change the color of the block itself. Remember that mr. Bean skit where he paints his living room by blowing up a bucket of paint? That's what it would look like if you place a blue torch. (It would look okay at night, but not so much during the daytime when you can clearly see the diamond-shaped edge of the paint explosion.)
Not to mention that doing it this way would not allow for the light sensor idea. If the sensor picked up the color of the block, it would mess up the whole system!
In order for the sensor to work properly, it needs to have colored light.
You've got to be kidding me, how the hell did he come up with the EXACT SAME THING that we did? And he did it 2 days earlier than when the idea came up on our forum
I've been having this idea for a while. Why not make redstone into craftable weapons, armor, and ingots? And it could be stronger than diamond, because there needs to be a new vanilla ore stronger than diamond.
LOL NOPE.
You need to stand back a bit, take a deep breath, and take a close look at what you just suggested.
Redstone is meant for circuitry. Using it as armor would be preposterous, never mind it being stronger than diamond.
"stronger than diamond" is a phrase you do not use on this forum. It's basically taboo.
"herobrine"
"guns"
"obsidian tools"
These are also phrases that are "taboo" here on this forum. It's already been explained countless times why these are never going to happen, and I would rather not explain it myself.
But I digress.
There is no need for anything stronger than diamond, it has 1520 some-odd durability, there is no need for any more than that.

Really? What's the problem?

I want it to be vanilla too, but I also want this to be in my mod!
We are working on adding new dye colors to the game. 16 have already been decided, and we will add 32 maximum if all goes as planned.
It'll be a full color palette! Complete with indigo, yellow green, red-orange, lavender and more!

I just need to update it.
But I need some more impressive visuals first, MS paint isn't the best way to explain things.

Heres the original thread, http://alldemdimensi...estone&start=30
We came up with this completely separately from that mod, I would just like to clear that up.
EDIT: Upon closer inspection, the ideas are actually quite different.
The mod allows multiple blocks to be pushed and pulled like a sticky piston. It only moves forward one space like a normal piston.
Our piston moves forward multiple spaces, and it's settings relate to how many spaces the piston head moves forward.
Our piston doesn't have a neck, so blocks can be pushed through the space between the piston's head, and the piston's body
And lastly, our piston doesn't act like a sticky piston.
They look the same at first, but they are actually quite different.
