Pictures:
The repeater clock powers the train tracks. It is started by placing a torch in front of the piston. The repeaters can be replaced with a torch pulsar (i.e. this)

The rails from a distance. The clock can be seen at the end.

The transfer repeater every 15 blocks. Another rail (the upper continuous line of redstone) can be built on the other side.

The train in action.

Successfully passing the transfer repeaters (it won't work if the timings are more than one tick)

Yet more pictures, if you want to build a piston train:
The redstone clock at the beginning. Can be a little tricky to switch on in SMP.

The first section of track, right after the clock.

The middle section of the track. Repeat this section as needed.

Rails are built with 15 redstone dust in between each repeater.
The piston train can be used to move players, blocks and minecarts at walking speed (4m/s), and uses two repeaters & 34 redstone every 18 blocks (2.22 redstone per block). Another continuous line of redstone can be built on the other side to accommodate piston trains moving in the opposite direction.

And that is why I collect clams even to this day, because they remind me of the last time I had seen my parents.

So with the new snapshot 12w17a, writable books were added and I immediately thought of this.
Note: I was playing on single player and went into offline mode to change my name. I do not own the account "bro."
