I actually like the green 'grass' better than the purple, purple was so over powering confusing and actually hurt my eyes! But this is an insanely awsome texture pack.

I appreciate the feedback! My colors often get very crazy, and making the MC world look alien (but still good) was tougher than I originally thought. I do believe that after I get the wolves skinned, I will take some time to dial things back a bit, and unify some of the various elements a bit more.

I wasn't happy with the way the sand turned out so I have one more tiny update. Its up to you on whether you want to change it.

I see. So is the temporary version you're working on going to have normal-colored grass? That'd be pretty disappointing, and yeah, I don't really want to switch back and forth, so I might hold out on using this for a while.

I'm sure mojang will eventually add better support for that sort of thing since mod support is a first priority at the moment

Well, it's not as normal as I thought it'd be:

But yes, I'd rather have purple.

I'll keep both available for downloading.

Does replacing the files in the minecraft.jar mean that going back to the original textures will look weird? Before the beta update I liked using this on a specific save and I don't want to go back and forth putting files and taking them out of the .jar

It will unfortunately. The reason I tell you to replace the misc folder has to do with the biome colors refusing to change when using the built-in texture pack system. Leaving it alone will make this pack look weird, and leaving the colors from this pack will make other packs look weird. I realize many people will not want to switch them every time, which has led me to start work on a version that is compliant with Minecraft's original biome colors until this issue is fixed.

perhaps you should make some crazy alien plants for the better grass mod too? if it gets updated.

Excellent idea! I will look into this.

Do we stick this texture pack in the texture pack folder or what?

Yes, the .zip can go in the texture pack folder. The only thing you have to change are biome color files in the misc folder. I'll edit the main post for clarity.

:Pink: Strange Worlds is now Beta 1.3 compatible! :Pink:

Strange Worlds is a Science Fiction makeover for Minecraft and my submission to the Webhallen contest. It turns your green medieval world into a purple alien moon orbiting a gas giant. Reptilians, giant insects, and deadly robots replace your pigs, sheep, and monsters. The plants are like nothing you've ever seen. Pulling elements from films like Forbidden Planet, everything from your armor and items to gui and textures has been reskinned to give you a strange new world to explore!

    Get it here:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?fnltkrg9xq4yk95

(I've done away with the purple grass for now until there is better support for custom biome colors.)

    Preview:

    Change Log:

    V 2.0.1:
-Pink sand was a terrible idea.

    V 2.0:
-Updated to comply with Beta 1.3
-Removed purple grass in favor of default biome colors (for now).
-Changed dirt, sand, and gravel to new, more alien colors (looks slightly lunar now).
    -Changed Creepers to robots.
-Changed Zombies to have alien pumpkin monster heads.

    V 1.1:
    - Updated to comply with Beta 1.2
    - Changed cacti to green to fit dyes
    - Cleaned up some block designs

Everything should be in order for Beta 1.3. As always, let me know if I missed anything.

posted a message on Changing the sign text color?
I just have a quick question. Is it possible to change the color of the text displayed on the signs? And if so how do I do it?

    Thanks!

Upon seeing it, I referred to the slow sand as "Creeper Mud" because of the faces. Plus I've always envisioned creepers being made out of something like mud or slime, and encrusted with rocks and moss to make them rough textured and green

The red blocks I called Brimstone (naturally), and the gold blocks remained unnamed. I like Brightstone.

I could see a mode where you get a small generated island (like indev) where you could pit two teams/races/etc. against each other in a land grab. For single player you could build certain things that spawn NPC warriors to help defend while create the fort itself.

    It'd be fun.

I imagine them as foul demons from the depths of the Earth, skin secreting a viscous black ichor that picks up flecks of material as they dig their way to the surface; a natural camouflage that helps each creeper sow destruction to wherever he sees fit. :SSSS:
