If, for some reason, I don't want to bother with coordinates and I don't have a compass, I leave a trail of arrows (not from a bow, made of cobble or whatever will stand out on whatever terrain I'm on)behind me. I have each arrow point back at the one before it, and I'll get back to where I started my journey...eventually.

posted a message on For the first time
I've finally made a house that I don't think completely blows either inside or outside. I've made houses in the past that looked okay from the exterior, and I even made a house or two that had an okay interior, but never both in the same house.

It's not "awesome" or even "great", but I think I'm finally getting the hang of not completley sucking at house-building. Any hints, tips, or tricks for better techniques on my future attempts are welcome.

    Which one? :P

This is the first actual house I built on my current server (the one with the wood fence around it - the other buildings I added later). My first bed was just in a hole in in the ground I walled off.

After exploring a while, I found an NPC village and decided to build a house near it. Despite all the torches on the outside, the interior is entirely torchless. I was experimenting with different furnishings rather than worrying about the exterior.

This one is a work in progress. It's just a shell at the moment, but it's where my currently linked bed is. I finally got Silk Touch for the first time ever, and decided ice blocks would be fun to build with. :D

Nope, it's supposed to work the way you described it. The last time I had a problem like this it was because I tried to use slabs, are you sure there isn't anything like that interfering?
Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhh! Good call! The floor is a slab floor. It never even occured to me that that might be a problem.

    Thanks!

My first question would be why would you make a incinerator
    Why not? :D

I built it 'cause I could. I made it overly complicated because it was fun. Sure, cactus or a square of lava would accomplish the same thing, but it wouldn't do it with style.

I made an overly-complicated industrial strength incinerator on a vanilla MC server a friend of mine runs, and I noticed something that strikes me as strange. The incinerator, at it's most basic, allows lava to flow into a catch basin onto whatever you want destroyed for several seconds, then cuts off the lava supply. What I noticed, after completing the project, is that it doesn't actually destroy the garbage that was tossed in before the flow was activated.

So, my question is "Is lava only capable of destroying what comes in contact with the lava's top surface?"

Any chance you'll release something for 1.4 before Halloween? I love this pack, and I've been looking forward to the update. If not, it's totally understandable. If I had any artistic talent, I still wouldn't put in the amount of work you have. :P

Hey, I love the mods! I have been using the shelf mod and if i Shift + click (puts all of one item in/out of a chest) it crashes my minecraft. It says "saving chunks" then goes black. Did I install it wrong? or is that happening to everyone?
    Thanks for the great mods!

The shift+click crash with shelf mod is a known bug.

Okay. This is the last time I'm posting this. If you people (and I'm looking at the linux folks out there that can't be bothered with a simple search) are too lazy to actually look for the information, you don't deserve an answer.

When copying the ModLoader.class, File Roller (A.K.A. Archive Manager) creates the directory structure /java/lang/ within the minecraft.jar and puts the ModLoader.class there. You can cut and paste the ModLoader.class back into the root directory of your minecraft.jar.

Not sure why it's doing that in this release, but not in previous releases.

For the image, I deleted all files from the minecraft.jar copy before adding Modloader to make it easy to see what I was talking about.

    I have that problem also.

I removed the .minecraf to be sure to star minecraft from scratch. I made it recreate the .minecraft folder. I copied the files from the modloader.zip into the minecraft.jar from the .minecraft/bin folder and erased the META-INF folder.

I am stuck on the Mojang logo just after I log in. It works fine without modloader. I was able to run it with modloader when on v.1.7.3

I am on Ubuntu 10.10 Linux with Sun Java 6

Ok I've got a problem here.
When I try to run minecraft with modloader installed, It just hangs on the spash screen. No black screen, no crash dump, just the splash. Running it through the terminal (using Ubuntu btw) I get this:

    Yes, I read the FAQ.
Yes, I deleted the META-INF folder.
Yes, I followed the instructions as followed.
yes, I've installed modloader before in previous versions.
Yes, I installed it the same way I have hundreds of times before.
And Yes, This is the only version I'm having trouble with.

Any help is appreciated, thank's in advance.

    *sigh*
Just one page back I reposted the solution to this. It's linked to a dozen times or more. All you had to do was search a little.

At least you were polite and included all the information most people don't. For that reason, I'll link it again for you.

I hate quoting myself, but sometimes it just has to be done. I wandered past several posts for this specific problem in the last couple pages.

There is a search feature.
