Maybe, but the generation seems different from when I have played in the past. The ground is more hilly in the plains and the mountains seem to be just like the extreme hills, just with snow.

Not sure if this is new, and correct me if its not, but I found an Ice Mountains biome.
EDIT: There seem to be other new snow biomes, just found an Ice Plains biome.

Okay, to fix the Ender Chest griefing issue, I have this idea. We could add two more slots, one for frequency, the other for encoder. Both would be determined by the ID of the items placed inside. This would make it so that people who have the same frequency and encoder would be able to access the chest. It wouldn't completely fix the problem, but would still make it more safe and still allow players to trade using this method.

New block that gives off light when powered is coming in the snapshot tomorrow! I love this update more and more!!!

@jeb_ any chance of adding lamps? i mean a light source that can be turned on and off instead of piston complex machine with glowstone

EVERYONE WONDERING ABOUT LAG:
Jeb improved the chunk loading code and now, if anything, the game will actually run faster, especially when generating new terrain. Maybe now loading a new world won't be a death sentence for the average server! Also, Jeb made a converter to add the extra 128 blocks on to old worlds, so you won't have to MCEdit it in or anything. Biomes will also be easier to move using a tool like MCEdit due to the location being more simple to edit.

This update is the best thing to happen to Minecraft since Survival Mode. Not only does it double the world's height, but it also adds new mobs and a new (and awesome) biome. Jeb said that it would slightly raise people's performance on their computers as well due to all the improvements to the biome generation.

Here are my ideas for mob drops.
Spiders:
String, 95%, 1-3
Spider Eye, 30%, 1-3
Fermented Spider Eye, 5%, 1-2
Skeletons:
Bones, 95%, 1-3
Arrows, 90%, 2-5
Feathers (from arrows), 50%, 1-3

Sorry about the long post, but I didn't want to spread this out over multiple posts.

I am super excited about this update. With worlds getting higher, mobs getting smarter, better biomes, and possibly trading Testificates prior to the release, this is my favorite update since 1.8. I do think, however, that Jeb and Jon should add the option to use old-style world generation and advanced options to generate things like biomes, specific structures, and the type of generation. Perhaps they could bring back the "Layered" generation and you could edit the height yourself. It might warn you when the world gets too high and it might lag too much. If we could somehow make the world really small, like 9 chunks, we could make the world very, very tall. Just my ramble. Also, every mob should have a "weakness", like how creepers run from cats. That's funny, because Notch once said that creeper's skin would be like dead leaves, so the cats try to pounce on the leaves....
