Sims 2, good memories. I still have the game, but I don't play it any more. That game's house builder was pretty great. There's no doubt in my mind it could've been even better, but as it was it was definitely worth it. My favorite house was a 4 story brick and tuder home with a pool, deck, greenhouse, and extensive basement. The basement even had a bunker with beds for the entire five-person family plus one for the gardener and two extras for people who were visiting the home, just in case there was a nuclear winter or something and the rest of the house got destroyed. And of course there was an arcade next door to the bunker.
Not responding to the rest of the comments on this page since I've pretty much addressed everything in it at one point or another already.
I used to love creating new towns and building all of the houses and community centers myself from the ground up. Of course I'd usually get too lazy to finish the whole thing, abandon it and start anew... I probably would've been more successful with my Sims 2 projects if my OCD was a little more advanced. :tongue.gif: The level of detail people could achieve with custom items truly amazed me. I'd look at screenshots of other peoples' houses and be like "I WANT TO LIVE THERE!" Today I still look at real-world houses and get nostalgia for building them in TS2. Ah, memories.
Okay OP, you've completely convinced me. Minecraft is better for casual creativity in regards to architectural projects and having fun dicking around rather than very accurate, detailed projects.
My favourite thing to make in Minecraft is houses. I used to play the Sims 2 which allowed a lot more flexibility and detail and appealed to my inner interior designer. It probably wouldn't have handled really large-scale projects like, say, massive sprawling cities though because it would simply take ****ing forever to load.
I guess some games are better for building certain things than others.
I kind of have to admire your patience to respond to commenters in a logical and relatively civil manner.
Um yer new to the forum scene huh? The only games you DONT find this is the case are the ones where the devs snip and lock those threads
Yeah, I am. I generally try to avoid the seething masses of anger and ignorance perpetuated by prepubescent children and basement-dwellers which makes up about 99% of all so-called discussion on the Internet. My bad.
Also, why would you spell it "yer"? Your strange spelling variation puzzles and intrigues me.
Those were mostly trolls, just try to ignore them and pay attention to people who actually give valid arguments. No point in getting annoyed at trolls because they will never disappear. :smile.gif:
@jallycyn:
Because minecraft has actually passed it's release point. If it was still a beta, most of us would have kept our mouths shut and we would stay satisfied.
Oh and IGN also gave it 9/10.
The forums were definitely full of bitching before the game was actually released.
Blah blah blah Minecraft sucks and is unfinished and doesn't have any ponies in it blah blah blah. Why are the overwhelming majority of the threads on this forum negative and critical of the game the forum is dedicated to? o_O
I find game critic scores to generally be overgenerous anyway.
Well, there are a lot of tutorials on Youtube already for how to survive your first night and things like that. Like, a lot. There's also the Minecraft wiki. But I suppose a tutorial or two in the forums couldn't hurt.
I just always assumed that people liked to work within Minecraft's limitations as an additional challenge to their creativity.
I'm kinda fuzzy on what you're trying to accomplish with this post. Are you just arguing against the idea that Minecraft is good for building stuff with, or arguing that people shouldn't be using Minecraft as a building sim at all? :/
hey well all my friends were talking about it so i bought the game right when it came out before reviews. and people stop flaming me im just 12 im sorry i dont have perfect grammar. you dont even need grammar on the internet...
Well, Little Timmy, it looks like you just learned a valuable lesson about peer pressure.

Did you ever play The Sims 3?

I agree. The score for Minecraft should be measuring in # of rainbow pickaxes out of 64.
Personally, I give it 58 rainbow pickaxes.

That's actually pretty sound advice.

Also LOL for not looking at screenshots/reviews/gameplay videos before buying so you know what you're in for.
