I'm rather jealous of those people who make a world and keep playing in it forever :tongue.gif: The kind of progress you'd make!
In my first world I punched down trees and make a plank house that kept getting blown up all the damn time by creepers until eventually I quit and moved on to another.
Why do people decide that they want to embark on a creative endeavor, but think that the Internet is just going to come along and supply all of their ideas for them? That kind of defeats the point of doing it in the first place.
I suggest the Summerfields texture pack. It is the most beautiful texture pack I've played and the one I keep coming back to. The colours are bright and cheerful, the mobs are fully customized, and it adds animated grass that sways in the wind. Definitely my favourite texture pack.
I'd never heard of J-zip before. It looks good, I'll try it, thanks. Winrar appears to be doing some ******** thing now where you have to complete some offer and give a company your money before they let you download it for "free".
So after more than a month of playing vanilla I'm ready to start installing some mods, and 7Zip won't let me edit the files in Minecraft.jar. Specifically I can't drag and drop files from unzipped mod zip files into the open Minecraft.jar file (opened in 7zip.) I figure I either need a better zip program or some other program that will let me open and modify the .jar file. Or if anyone else has any suggestions for what the hell's going on, go for it. I am by no means a computer expert.
Seeing how U.S. patent law is getting progressively more ridiculous, if they have the legal muscle to actually do it they might just get away with it. Last time I checked you still couldn't copyright frigging dictionary words, though.
The idea of people paying for updates, expansion packs or special content with the kind of community that Minecraft has is laughable. I seriously doubt the ability of Minecraft's dev team to create better quality content than the community at its current size and speed of production. Why would I pay for updates and expansions and new features when I can get them from the community for free? I don't really think it's going to happen.

The people in the community itself? Whiny, entitled, negative, ignorant, spoiled idiots, just like 99% of the Internet.
