posted a message on Help!! New update - can we uninstall??

Yes, playing in Bedrock is absolutely no fun yet, I think I'll try it after all the bugs are ironed out if they are. I converted a world into bedrock, does this mean that world will always be in Bedrock? Or can I play it in the older edition if I choose from the "Edition menu"?

The Bedrock took 20-30 mins to load each time and crashed when I opened a gate. The end of my patience was loading for the third time. Got 10 mins of play and 80 mins waiting for it to load over again,

Thanks again TooManyBrownies, My nephew came over yesterday and we went on a bed making frenzy. It didn't take too long before we had put down more beds than villagers and there were small ones popping up everywhere. We worked day & night and I had my first encounter with a phantom. The old villagers all had jobs even though I have only put down a few workstations, the new ones are all unemployed but I don't think they are nitwits. Will the villagers that had a proffession before the update eventually become unemployed? Should I make an oversupply of workstations to counter?

I have a sheep farm and we'll get on to the beds asap. Thanks for your reply. Also people talk about building walls 2 blocks high, does that mean villagers can jump over fences? Will ilvillagers spawn near my villages or will they only appear when I expand the world and explore further? I mean what is the chance my old villages will be attacked?

posted a message on What to do after a long hiatus?

Hello, I have recently come back to Minecraft after about 2 years of not having time to do any gaming at all. There is a survival world that my nephew and I started in 2013 on the PS3, and it was special from the beginning because it was only a small world but it had spawned 5 villages. We called it Testificate City with the goal of joining all the villages into one big city. We worked on it for four years and brought it over to the PS4 and expanded the world to medium when the savannah etc biomes updated and we will probably expand again to the largest world soon. We have melded 4 of the villages by building between them and encouraging villagers to move into homes outside their original village. All the villages are fenced and well lit so villagers don't wander off and get lost in caves etc. The 5th village is too far away but we are building towards it.

So here is where I need help. I fear we are going to lose all the villagers now, We knew they spawned according to door counts 2 years previously and our villages filled up pretty quickly and golems proliferated too. Is there a good tutorial about what to do to keep them? Should I make a huge dorm in each village with hundreds of beds? Does each villager need their own workstation? If there is a good thread that goes through how to save villagers please leave a link. The PS4 updated automatically so it might already be too late. I don't want to lose this world or have to start again because it is the only world we have left that has a vanilla old school flavour, at least in the centre and then as you travel out the update spawns can be seen like a history lesson.

posted a message on Need someone who can breed villagers

Make sure your village is protected, when I find a village the first thing i do is light up the whole place and build a fence around it. Make sure that there are no caves or crevices they can wander into. This will protect against zombies who sometimes come from miles around to get villagers. I have seen on many lets plays on you tube people wondering where all there villagers went and most of the time it is villagers wandering into danger and then being attacked by zombies. Then I always put doors everywhere, like randal4799 said, but just placing doors is not enough, you have to have a block above the door before the villager AI recognises the door as a house, I put "telephone boxes" everywhere which are four doors below a glowstone block (but any block will do)

I like this list and I did work out a lot of this on my own over time, as we all do by trial and error, but it is good to see a lot of sensible stuff in one place however -
#21. Pumpkin Pie and Steak (and possibly pork chops) is really the only viable food, in my opinion. The other stuff is strictly fluff.
I have to disagree, Carrots may not be as nutritious but they are the only food you do not have to cook apart from melon slices but they have way more substance, I have found it more convenient to come back to base and use carrots as a base food just by farming and not going near a furnace or crafting table, let alone using sugar and wheat. I plant carrots all over the world.

    Quote from ubergine»
There is only one portal in all versions of the console version.

That is what i thought. My end portal is not far away, it's in my spawn map because it was created classic size on ps3. Therefore i presume you can create a world as classic, locate your end portal and then re-load that saved world as a large world so your end portal is always close by.

I have never heard of there being more than one Ender portal in any given world in PS4 edition, maybe I'm wrong because i already found my Ender portal before i transferred my world from PS3, so i never bothered looking for another one. I think the best method is to use ubergine's way and load the seed in creative and blast your way around to see, if not i would just create another world because a world without an ender portal limits what you can do as far as available blocks, building ender pearl farms etc...

Eyes of Ender have already been tried anyway, as was stated initially-

"I tried flying far away from the strong hold I found, and throwing eyes of ender, and still kept going right back to the original."

Oh right,- but there is quite a bit there however if those walls are built out of it. Quite small to make out but i think there are alternate stacks of chiselled stone making up the main walls, that's quite a lot of duplicating, is there even a way of doing that on PS4? I know there was on X-box 360 but it was a bit hit and miss.

I really like that first "well" idea, the secret entrance, i might have to borrow that. My village began organically i suppose, the houses i built depended on which professions i had from curing zombie villagers, my first two rescued villagers were butchers so i built a house with cows and pigs attached so i never had to go too far for a trade. They had a child who was a farmer so i built another house with a wheat farm attached. Now the village contains a smithy, a library and a temple/church too. None of the villagers take any notice of course as long as there are doors they are happy. I put a few "telephone boxes" (four doors with a block on top) around too in order to keep the door/villager ratio high but that probably isn't suitable for a castle. I'd like to see what you end up doing there, make sure you post the results!

That is really bad, I think i share the horse lag in that the horse jumps about 5 seconds after you want it to but the rest of the issues i don't have and i haven't seen them on other PS4's either. I can understand your frustration, the mobs lag i have never seen anything like that, even the zombie child was slow! I can only think that it might be your machine itself, are any other downloaded games laggy? I'm sorry i could not be more help. Very nice castle/palace by the way.
