Yeah, that topic title caught your attention, didn't it?
I was thinking, we could use some more good fuels for in furnaces. Right now the only type we have is (char)coal and for me and it gets really old really quickly getting enough coal to do something substantial. I have gathered ideas from western history to make a few additions to MineCraft.
Idea 1: Blubber and Oil
I very recently read up on the usage of whale blubber. A long time ago when whaling was considered normal, whale blubber was the main source of burnable oil. Whale's blubber is molten down to a clear oily substance which can be burnt in lamps or used for other things. Back in the day, this oil was called whale oil or train oil.
I thought this is good to use for MineCraft. You can have an animal drop Blubber on death, which can be processed in a Furnace to make it into a fuel, which is generally called Oil. Oil can then be used as a fuel to smelt 8 objects in a Furnace, like Coal.
Idea 2: Peat and Turf
Peat is a type of decaying vegetation commonly found in swamps. Harvesting the peat from the swamplands and drying it on the land was a popular way to get fuels back when natural environments were not yet protected. Dried peat is called turf, and it was a formidable fuel.
This also combines well with MineCraft. Peat uncommonly (but not rarely) spawns in small bodies in Swamps. Peat cannot be destroyed by hand and a Shovel is need to break it. When the Peat block is placed in an area with a certain light level, it begins to dry slowly and transform into Turf, which CAN be broken by hand. Turf, in turn, can be used as a fuel in a Furnace to smelt 4 objects.
And I am back with another texture pack!
This pack is not as specifically themed as my previous creation, the Monster Hunters pack. This is just a pack that caters to my personal liking and I am happy to share it with those who are like-minded.
Stone now more resembles marble and stone-like blocks are based from that. The ores match the stone it's in, the dirt got a great new atmosphere, grass now grows in a more refined manner and new paintings have been added. All wood planks types now have a specific style, also.
I laid this base to continue building upon, but for my dear, dear fans I have already begun taking screenshots and now I am publishing this brand-new texture pack.
I will now randomly spew some god-awful screenshots.
AND finally the link to the texture pack itself. Enjoy!
I wholly support this suggestion. I would really enjoy the addition of tropical palm trees simply for the atmosphere of isolation. Coconuts would be a nice bonus.
I can see myself planting palm tree saplings, but I'm not sure how to imagine palm tree wood in construction.
It's hard for me to get used to glass, stone bricks and stone having an EMC value of only 1. It really messes me up at times, it seems really unnatural to me.
I'd like to suggest heightening the EMC values of Stone and Stone Bricks to 2. That way, when you make half-block slabs in the conversion rate 1:2, you can easily convert 2 slabs (which have a value of 1 EMC) back into one full block instead of TWO full blocks.
I'd like to see glass value heightened to 3. If the value of glass is higher, maybe glass panes could get their own EMC value.
I know the chances of any of this being implemented are very low, but I'm only trying to relay a message of my personal opinion. I'm an oldfag and this system makes Stone Bricks (and also Glass) insanely easy to get. It's not a bad building material, but it having a value of only 1 EMC kind of makes me feel like I'm cheating.
It's not a bad idea. In fact, structures made with this alteration would seem much more decorative and natural in my humble opinion. I would enjoy building things with this kind of geometry.
I very recently got my hands on enough materials to actually start using the mod. I found out an imbalance.
The regular MineCraft recipe allows players to make Stone Slabs out of Stone. 3 Stone gets you 6 Stone Slabs. The problem here is that Stone AND Stone Slabs both have the value of 1 EMC. Using that recipe you can essentially double your EMCs, and when you transmute the slabs back into Stone you can do the whole process again and again. Free EMCs for everyone.
I am totally for the marble idea. All of them actually. Marble in vanilla MC would be a great new addition and my best guess is that people would very much appreciate it.
Further going in on the subject, how about this;
What if marble was not just some mineable stone, but just dyed normal Stone? First you'd have to get Cobblestone, smelt it in a furnace, and then use a Dye on it. Seems costly enough for a semi-precious stone like Marble. It would really class things up.
The idea is valid and is probably being considered. However, sheep already drop wool and sheep also dropping edibles might make sheep excessively useful.
Countering that, cows have recently started dropping beef in addition to the leather for armor.
Sheep dropping mutton chops is completely up in the air for the time being, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.
Good idea, but I think alligators shouldn't be so picky in attacking mobs. They act on instinct and whatever crosses their territory should provoke them into attacking. Players, ocelots, sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, wolves, zombies, skeletons, endermen, spiders, maybe even hit-and-run tactics on creepers.
Maybe they should react to squids differently, and have a Nether lava-dwelling version.
You are placing a lot of hope into an enchantment. I wouldn't want this to be in vanilla minecraft because Iron Ore and Gold Ore can only possibly generate one ingot each in logical Minecraft terms. What is one cannot become two.
I appreciate that the Mojang team decided to simulate tables by allowing placement of pressure plates on fences. In the same way, there are many things that can be achieved with paintings. There is also a mod by the one and only Risugami that allows placing an armor stand.
A weapons rack would be nice, though I'd prefer if you could hang up all tools on it and remove them by just right-clicking for ease of use. Hang up a hoe by your garden, an axe near the forest and a pickaxe at your quarry for all the comforts of home.
I also vote for a chair with the animation of a seated character model. While seated, using food items could restore more hunger than otherwise.
I'd simply like to enjoy the satisfaction of being "rich". At the lack of currency you're basically always poor as... Dirt. The ability to exchange items and gather finances would appeal to me.

I want to get this straight before trying to give my opinion.
