Well perhaps with that feature added in, they would make it possible to add a person's IP adress or a certain code that is binded to their Minecraft account? I don't know but I'm sure that they will figure it out and won't just add in that feature blindly.
What if my internet stopped working and I need a new router? Happens a lot for me, so it can't be the IP address. -

Exiting from servers for me takes annoyingly longer.
Also, computer storage space does change the performance of it. And 1.8 did completely change the render engine, so... probably that's why.

And also, this wasn't a old glitch in PC, that was intended to make Zombies a bit harder, but nobody liked it. I think it's still in the game, just a lot rarer.
