I'm happy to announce, after a year (and a few months) of work, I've finally finished:
This map has been my most ambitious project yet and I'm excited to finally release it. I hope you guys like it!
Looks amazing! I'll be checking it out. I've been think of what to record after Ragecraft 3 and this might just be what I go with. Will be trying it out right away.
While I think the points you made are a good one, my feelings towards it are basically: If I wanted to play Dark Souls, I would play Dark Souls. And I love Dark Souls, it's one of my favorite games of all time, but that style of gameplay isn't what I am looking for in CTMs. I like the Minecraft CTMs because it is fast paced and edge of your seat action. And I am sure that is the thought of a bunch of other people.
That being said, making the changes doesn't mean the changes are bad. I just think the concern is that the new combat messes with the old flow of combat.
The biggest thing about 1.9 and CTM for me is just the early game. The early game is brutally boring, and with the skeletons it becomes plain out annoying. I really hope there are ways soon, (heck at this point mods would be acceptable) to combat this combat (hehehehe). I see promise in the other features of this update though. I'm excited.
I agree with you. There's a ton of cool things coming with the update, but the combat seems so wonky. I predict a good handful of maps will still be made in 1.8 until everyone figures out how to accommodate the new combat features well.
Here is one more LPQ. This time I tackled Sleepless Nightmare. I'll be attempting a couple more maps soon, but there won't be one tomorrow. Keep an eye out for more updates.
Interesting. Do you mean the boss mobs only or all mobs? The bosses are relentless but there are no rules against changing the area to contain the boss mob.
I actually encountered a similar problem. The issue is that with only 4 planks of wood, you can only make a crafting bench but no sticks. This means that the only way to make tools is to kill a witch with your bare hands, which is also very very difficult to do. I beat the first boss with my fist, but it took a lot of time and spamming the hit button. After that I entered the next area and got wrecked by pigman.
If you set up some loot chests it would be fine, but otherwise the players cannot make picks or swords, which means you cannot fight anything.
Here's one more LPQ for you to enjoy. DerTomatenToaster (Tokracraft) and coolfool88 both let me know that I did not complete the map like I had thought. So here is part one. Stay tuned for part two soon!
I like the format of these. It seems silly sometimes when it takes people 8 episodes to beat a jam map, and itd be a lot harder to see all of the maps that way too.
I'm glad you think so. My plan is to do one for most Jam maps. In fact you should keep an eye out for your map tomorrow!

One more LPQ for this round. I actually finished Darkness Descending, which was a lot longer than I thought it was.
I'm excited to see what everyone makes next!
