Look, about Biblical literalism. The fact is is that there are sects of Christianity that do swing very heavily for Biblical literalism. And those same sects unfortunately also tend to be a major driving force in American right-wing politics, especially the further right you go. Biblical literalism does have quite a bit of influence their politics, and as such, our politics overall.
I'm not saying most Christians or anything; but whether or not their power is representative of their numbers, either way, they still wield political might.

CupcakesAndMinecraft posted a message on ReligionHave you even been around most Christians? Most of the time the only Christians I get into arguments with are people who take it literally, and if you would have read my earlier posts you would have understood that it isn't just about that, it's about the fact they are so hypocritical and contradicting when it comes to it. There are arguments and issues like this for a reason, are you assuming that the top 78% of religious debates (around Christianity) are due to nothing, because hardly any Christians are like that? If they weren't, it wouldn't be the top topic. Nor a big one. Because it *wouldn't* be an issue.Posted in: Politics, Philosophy, News and Science -

MCFUser6937444 posted a message on ReligionIf you are not to take the Bible literally then why take it seriously? If the very book that is suppose to save all of humanity from a horrid place like hell (which an all-creation God made) then how are we suppose to save ourselves if the story and instructions can't be taken into context. If I am not to take your religion serious then why should I care about it at all if it's invalid.Posted in: Politics, Philosophy, News and Science -

HDInFiNiTy posted a message on Why does everyone hate console gaming?A console can fall off easily over the years and you have to buy a new 2-3 hundred dollar console where as with a computer you can buy a 700$ computer and it will stay current for a few years, and with proper investment, it can be upgraded for a lot less.Posted in: General Gaming
Also PC Gaming is more diverse when it comes to games you can play. -

Starwaster posted a message on Breaking News - Modding API Updates!Posted in: Minecraft NewsQuote from TheMightyAnonym
I have something of an awkward question to ask, as I haven't seent the same concern risen by anyone.
I greatly prefer vanilla servers, but at the same time run a few simple mods like Inventory Tweaks and fun stuff that chages the player models. I really, really don't want to say good bye to that and have servers dictate which mods I can and can't have.
And what if a server wants to run shaders? Will I have to get the shader mod? There's no way I can run that.
It seems to me that I'm the only one who really dreads the api, and I don't understand why everyone else wants it. :I
An API is just a set of functions that hook into the game engine. Modders NEED an API or they can't make mods at all. That's what Forge and Bukkit are. Those are APIs. They allow people to create mods without having to edit the base classes. However, because Forge is not maintained by Mojang and is not an official part of the engine that means that every time Mojang makes a major update to the game it breaks the way Forge works and Forge's developers have to fix it and update it.
So it's not that people want an API, it's that they want an OFFICIAL API that is already integrated into the engine and won't be broken just because Mojang made changes to Minecraft. It will eliminate delays between game updates and mod updates. (which happens like this: Minecraft update -> Forge API update -> modder update)
I'm still predominantly on 1.2.5 because several of my favorite mods are STILL not updated and some were abandoned because it was a full time job for the modders involved. If we'd had a functional official API way back in 1.2.5 then those mods would STILL probably work in 1.4.x -

Whats interesting is that I asked that question here on this thread .. nothing was wrong with my post about it as I said nothing wrong. It was an honest question for them to show proof of where they got this info. And the MODS here censored and removed it and any evidence showing they said that here in the OP. This thread got a 1 star out of 5 for censoring their mistakes.
Same here, Jack. Typically, someone in any journalistic capacity would fess up to the mistake, apologize, and move on. To be honest, this thread should have been locked, a retraction posted, and a new thread started with the correct info. Not only that, some of the posts referencing a January date for the API remain here, and the whole feel of the thread implies that the API will happen soon. Sorry, guys. It's not happening soon. Why would it, when they still have to finish the recode? I too give this one star, not only for censorship, but for still allowing misinformation to pass. Sach, you have grossly underestimated the ripple effect your mistake has had on the whole of the Minecraft community. Other websites have already passed the info along. From there it has spread. Dinnerbone had to set the record straight. That's called damage control, as in what was posted could have damaged reputations. Very unprofessional actions, here. If you want to be a journalist, have some integrity. -

On a more serious note, I've done alot of bug hunting in the past but am not going to bother with this one since they can't be bothered to even tell us what's in the changelog. -

rootleak posted a message on Team DesolationHahah this loser griefing team tried to screw with my server then they raged when they couldn't get outta jail.Posted in: Discussion
Ryan Sparks, rysparks ign. Try again. Bring your whole team. Wait... you did... Recruit more. Oh wait, you tried recruiting MY moderators? My moderators who are close friends and family and told me about all of your client mods and gave me a copy of them? What? You can't x-ray anymore? Your nuking is broken? Oh noes!
It was a pleasure having you grief my server. 1 rollback command and all the damage was undone and you morons keep logging in giving me the pleasure of griefing YOU until you ragequit.
Oh, everyone... Don't forget to check his 3 videos with my server featured. As you can see by the video they destroyed spawn, what you don't see is they ransacked a number of houses as well. They go on about how they were unbanned. Yes. They were unbanned because I honestly find it more fun to watch them writhe in pain at the agony of NO permissions on the server. They can barely chat. Clearly rysparks and centipede don't understand how easy it is to rollback griefing. I was able to undo all their griefing from my PHONE with 3 button pushes.
They also talk about preventing themselves from being demoted... Well, they came back later and tried that one and it didn't work. They rejoined the server dozens of times through the night. Every single time trying slight modifications of their client, none of which worked.
I'm actually happy sparklez. This is my first time running a server. You were a simple test subject and a learning experience for me. Like the 13 year old that you are, you weren't careful. You gave my moderators your client. All your damage was undone in seconds, and now all you do is sit in our jail and spout out porn links to your favorite child porn sites.
Now that you have come and gone, my server has the necessary mods to stop someone like you. Had you not given out that client, I wouldn't know what I was up against. -
