Well I expect Notch won't particularly care, and probably plans on quite rapidly fixing all our problems the moment he gets back from Berlin or whatever anyway, making this immediately obsolete. Besides which, Notch's actual opinion hasn't kept me from being threatened here in the past...

Unnecessary drama aside, my site (echidnatribe.org) is temporarily down for lack of money, so for now if anyone wants it:

Or you could just change from the default port and tell the people connecting.

Yeah, I was told to do that too, but I only have one port forwarded from my router to begin with, and I don't have access to it, and it's already not the default port. :sad.gif:

So like. SMP can't ban yet and there's no way to put a password on it or anything, right? But there's no server list, so to host a private server all you have to do is not tell anyone your IP address. Unfortunately, ancient IRC servers like EsperNet tend to simply give away that information, and soon you have Armonte popping up in your server setting fire to wooden towers and arguing that he doesn't crash servers. Oh no!

Sooo... When that happened, I took an hour to program (from scratch in C) a simple proxy server that you connect to in order to access my real server (which is hosted on a different port which hasn't been forwarded from my router), and if you're not on the list of IP addresses I want to allow onto my server, the connection fails. :biggrin.gif: Now only the people I want on my server can be there, just by adding their address to a simple txt file that automatically reloads once every 5 minutes. I haven't added a blacklist version yet, though.

Disclaimer: The proxy is a completely separate application which only decides whether or not a connection can/should be made. It doesn't watch anything that goes through it or anything like that yet, so it won't add any special chat commands or whatever. It's not a Minecraft hack, and could easily work with any kind of program that accepts TCP connections, regardless of port or protocol, even if they're not on the same machine.

I spent over 23 minutes hovering over the [Submit] button to post this, afraid that I would face immediate ban for reasons of misunderstanding or poor explanation.

He fixed a different one where undead could roam around on land in the full sun light.

    How good of him.

    ...
I said "Yeah, he fixed that one, but this way older one is still there. :(" Nothing more. No misinterpretations, confusion, or disrespect. Hi Zuriki.

Yeah, but he still hasn't fixed the loophole that water constantly creates enough shadow to keep sunburns away, even at the hottest time of the day.

posted a message on JTE's Graphical Crafting Guide
Spoilers: The page linked here lists EVERY crafting recipe currently available, barring some duplicates, shown centered in the smallest grid you could make them with.

    Currently online at EchidnaTribe.org/Minecraft

Not yet listed on the page: Smelting ores (Press [Q] to toss ore blocks onto a fire)

    Help me:
    * I need a clean normal-size screenshot of a singular Gold block and Diamond block to replace their icons in the guide
    * Better mob icons would be appreciated
    * A good smelting background, including something like a [Q] key and a fire block... and the icons necessary for that stuff.

posted a message on Sand/Gravel blocks still not fully corrected...
It's not that hard to simply say "if it isn't solid, fall into it" instead of just checking the block type directly. Why should there be so many problems with sand falling into liquids and such in the first place? You already know which blocks aren't solid in order to do the physics anyway...

I don't think "updateNeighbours" is a good solution for the floating sand blocks, when you could make the cave digging part of map generation smarter in general. It already doesn't dig to the edge of the map, leaving a single layer of dirt under the sand should be easy enough, or simply digging caves before deciding where the sand is in the first place so you know when the sand is on solid ground or not already.

Zombies can't breathe underwater, but pigs can? Oh well...

Also I tried for an hour to get pigs to procreate, no success. :sad.gif: Mushrooms can't be placed either, due to eating them. Seems the only thing I can farm are trees.

Sand does not crush plants (in this case mushrooms) when it falls on them, it just stops midair over them.

I know this one's reported before:
Sand spawns before natural caves are dug or something, and natural caves get stopped when they reach sand, leaving the sand hanging MIDAIR over it like a roof, which partially collapses only AFTER you break one of the sand blocks.

Also, when my inventory is full of 99 of any block type, I can't pick up more of that block, and the mini-blocks being there prevent me from building, so I can't break the dirt blocks that got built into a wooden wall in order to replace them with wood if I already have 99 dirt blocks.. :sad.gif: Is there a "drop your entire inventory of type of block" button? Would be useful for getting rid of red mushrooms and such, you know.

Yeah, some op opping someone else then leaving, then that person ops someone ELSE, then that person ops someone ELSE, etc. is all I see there. Sure it would work on JTE's server, JTE ops everyone anyway so they can play around with all the nifty block types! :biggrin.gif:

My emotions are none of your concern, despite being the driving force of many of my creations. Fine then, I won't bother asking for a direction which would be mutually beneficial and don't care what other people think of what I end up doing. I tried.
