This is such a cool project! I'm excited about it. I created a mcforum account just for this because I didn't have one.

posted a message on Yotan's Earth Map Coordinates Calculator

This is JERealize representing Yotan's Earth Server with this program. This program was designed for use on Yotan's 1:1000 scale map of Earth, and can locate any location from the real Earth within blocks of where you end up, all by typing in the coordinates of where you're looking for.

All that is needed is to put in the latitude and longitude in decimal coordinates (as of now, this does not support arcminute/second formats), select the hemispheres in which your location lies, and press Enter. The X and Z coordinates for the map will show up on the bottom of the program, and all you need to do is walk that way (unless you had any other means to get there, but transportation varies by person). The coordinates should be within blocks of your destination.

This program is currently version 0.9, as it hasn't been beta-tested by enough users to call it V1.0, and neither does it have that many options. However, this is enough to get you moving around Yotan's map and finding your dream building location. More features will become available within the next few months.

This program was coded using Visual Basic programming language (see what you learn in school, kids?), and comes in a .zip file ready to download from the link provided below. A security message will pop up upon install; when that happens, simply continue installation. I have talked with Yotan about this program, and Yotan will vouch for this program.

If you have any suggestions as to the improvement of this program, feel free to leave a message.

    Planned features are as follows:
    *Support for arcminute/second coordinates

I hope you find this program useful and aid in its evolution.

I'm working on a file that contains latitude/longitude conversion metrics so you can reference and look for where you want to build. Hopefully if this new map is 20000X40000 this file should work wonders with tracking down cities.

The detail of this file depends on how ambitious I'm going to end up. Wish me the best.

Hi everyone. Sorry about the past few years; college and schoolwork swept the rest of my life under the rug. I may not return to the server, but maybe someday I'd come by, and I definitely want that map when it's released. Best wishes.

Yotan, have you got an ETA on when Europe is going to be done, or is it to early to tell?

As far as I know, Europe will be done very soon.

Good idea. I'll, then, be submitting something of a Millennium Stadium inspiration. Give it time.

    And Yotan, I was thinking:

I remembered the first Minecraft video I made for the server, and it wasn't really good. It had no sound, and it showed very little. If you have a copy of the original server map with Mexico City on it, I could redo the video, along with providing other cities' videos as a reflection sort of thing. If you don't have the map or a way to send it to me, I'll understand.

Just realized that Cardiff is Sucre's sister city. In that case, I'll really have to look for outdoing Sucre once the server is up.

Also, I'm testing more land for when the server is back on:

The blue-and-white building is under construction, but I have plans for it to be a pizza place.

Also also, I have a bit to think about building for when the server comes back on, but I have a few ideas set so far:
    • San Francisco (Fresno's spiritual successor)
      • Coit Tower (built on peninsula)
      • Transamerica Pyramid and/or 555 California Street (theorized construction)
      • Victorian houses (theorized construction)
      • Pier 39 (theorized construction)
      • Google and/or HP Headquarters (theorized construction)
    • Veracruz (Mexico City's spiritual successor)
      • Eagle of Tenochtitlan (to be renamed)
      • Estadio Azteca (to be renamed)
      • Catholic church (ready for import)
      • Seafood restaurant (theorized construction)
    • Cardiff (new city)
      • Residential complex
      • Pizza place
      • Millennium Center and/or Stadium (since Cardiff is the European Center of Sport for 2014)
      • BBC Wales Headquarters (theorized construction)
      • Torchwood Three facility (theorized construction)
      • Cardiff Harbor (since Cardiff Bay can't exactly be constructed on this map)
And if the land-claiming mod is in place, then after developing these areas sufficiently (with help from Alex7Drag in SF and whitetiger512 in Veracruz), I'll see about making a military base in Greenland.

I couldn't do it yesterday and today I'm going to a place where my computer resources are very limited, so Skype won't work for 2 weeks.

Okay, but Yotan wanted you to meet in the server for some dev work over the weekend. Chat with Yotan a bit about that, if you have the time.

Also, I'm preparing for when the server comes back up, and training myself in the art of construction. I've assembled a 15*15 piece of land, and since the land's so small, I cannot do much. I cannot even finish that brick house over there. I'll post a bit more over time.

And yes, I intend to rebuild everything block by block on the server. This segment took me 45 mins to think up and build. It'll take me less time once I assemble it on the server.

I had an idea to put deactivated activator rails at the stop of the train stations, making it easier to get off and delete the minecarts. Also, I resent my Skype request to Yotan and if you want, you can try finding me on Facebook.

The 1th Generation lasted for 4 months, then the server got destroyed by a rogue Admin and it took 3 weeks to repair.
The 2th Generation lasted for 5 months, then I transfered the server to another Admin because my life was getting to busy.
The 3th Generation was the most troubling of all because the new server wasnt stable at all, this lasted 7 months.
The 4th Generation started when I took the server back after it had been down for almost 4 months, this lasted for 3 months.

Yotan, may I just say something?

I noticed how you written the order abbreviations, and let me point out that 1th is actually supposed to be 1st, 2th is supposed to be 2nd, 3th is supposed to be 3rd, and 4th is 4th. Your English is admirable, but it could use some tweaking. Also, any number order that uses the number "1" in the tenths place always ends with a "th".
