Nope. The mod is for Minecraft 1.5.2. The reason why has been explained pretty much on every page for the past few months.

Impossible, and would severely ruin the overall experience of this mod.
Trust me, this mod by itself is difficult, but once you start surviving and advancing in the tech tree, those accomplishments will feel well worth the effort.

[**** NEW RELEASE ****]
Sweet. Looks like I now have a reason to clear out the gravel in the walls of my under-construction safe growing area.

Is there ever gonna be a 1.7v of better than wolfs as this mod is amazing
Read the 4th post down from the top of this page to see an answer to your question, along with the reasoning behind that answer.
Oct 18, 2014Posted in: Minecraft Modsbetter beginnings mod cause i like your BTW mod it makes minecraft so much more reallistic but i think early game still needs work perhaps borrow form BBM and have a Flint Tier
or alternatively have the player gather loose rocks that generate then craft them together to make an axe.
PUNCHING TREES IS A BIG NO NO!!
Either you haven't played Better Than Wolves, or you don't understand it. BTW has absolutely nothing to do with realism.
Dec 27, 2013Chicken jockeys have to be the single most poorly thought out mob Mojang has ever added. They are literally worse than the first gen Endermen who would pick up any block.Posted in: Suggestions
Does anybody at Mojang actually play Minecraft anymore?

On a happier note:
Earlier this week Icy recorded a new BTW LP with me, and the first episode has just been released here:
Thought I'd mention something regarding the comment you made about rain. Mojang only recently fixed a rather long-standing bug about the lack of visual difference between rain storms and thunder storms. There used to be one, but it was lost when they merged singleplayer with multiplayer.

I restart my worlds quite often, and have recently restarted playing on servers again. One of the world I had intended to stick with was started after HC Strata was added. I stopped playing it and started a new world shortly after the changes FC made to gearboxes, requiring their recipe to include 3 pieces of gold.
As for some screenshots, here's a few from where I established my main overworld base:
It was shortly after the last screenshot that I started new worlds that haven't lasted as long.
Many of the recent early-game HC additions have made considering starting a new world a daunting decision, which is a good thing.
One of the things I've enjoyed about BTW is that it has actually presented a reason for building certain things. Mushroom farms are a good example. In vMC, there is absolutely no need to build one. Food is so incredibly plentiful that Mojang really shouldn't have bothered with implementing the hunger system.
Another thing is mob traps.
Those are something I did enjoy building in alpha and beta, but eventually stopped building (health regen with hunger addition) because there just wasn't any point.
There have been times when I've thought "Dammit FC, why'd you do that? That just makes it harder without any good reason." only to eventually find that the game has become more enjoyable because of whatever added difficultly he's added.
Question for the community: Do you keep screenshot logs of your progression in-game?
I've found them good for two reasons:
1) To see how far I've come.
2) Automation designs.

Aug 20, 2014It's been what seems like years since he found himself in this strange world. Was his name Steve? He still can't quite remember who he is or where he came from. In any case, he has spent his time over these years doing many great things – terrible things! Unleashing the Groth upon realm of the peaceful pig people, harvesting the souls of the damed by the thousand, constructing a death camp for the inhabitants of the End, but most enjoyably of all the ceaseless torture of those foul wolves. He has done everything there is to do, and yet he still feels like he is missing something. There's still so many mysteries in the world around him. How does he know how to build all these great things? They have a strange familiarity with him. It's just who he is; what he does.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
And just then as he was considering this, he realized how to solve a problem of a long forgotten device – the device. Now is the perfect time to finish what he started. The device sits timelessly before him. Its twin discs of soulforged steel as polished as ever. Steve stands on the central diamond platform once again and switches the lever. Sparks flash all around and he feels a tingling sense in his stomach. He looks around and sees that everything is different, but familiar. There are wolfmen everywhere. He has been teleported to another world, and not just any world. This is where he came from; he has now returned to home.
Steve's memories come flooding back – all the genetic experimentations, the genocide, his banishment. Yes, he has mostly fond memories here. But then he remembers something horrible, something he had tried to forget – his birth parents. His mother was a pig lass and his father a wolf kin. Yes, Steve is half wolf, he is that which he despises most. Though all his genetic modifications had hidden his origin, even made him better than wolves, they couldn't change that fact that he himself is a wolf. But now after escaping his banishment and returning home, he is stronger than ever – ready and eager to finish his purge of the wolvenkin!

Honestly, there is no reason to update any mod or total conversion at all, even the ones supposed to work together. Bug fixes can be backported, and most new vanilla content is both redundant and inferior compared with what we already have from other mods.Quote from julialy
There's no reason to update BTW since it's "incompatible with everything".
Jun 12, 2014Every day I play this game I discover new and interesting ways to die:) It's like Groundhog Day for poor Steve. (Whom I renamed Steve Hamburgerhands due to his habit of punching trees over and over again in rage each time he dies.) If I made a histogram of death causes, however, all other causes of death would fade to noise against the towering pillar of Jungle Spider. I'm quite certain that entire continents of Jungle Spiders nourish their innumerable young exclusively on Steve's corpses. Now whenever I hear their shrieks and horrible mad scuttling I start gibbering and tears leak out of my eyes.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
My young kids see Minecraft as a benign and relaxing experience. They sit inside their lovingly constructed dwellings, gazing over their flower gardens and verdant fields and herds of softly lowing cattle at long shadows cast by the slowly setting sun.
I scratch out my existence. Furtively scurrying from one rude dirt shelter to another, clutching my stone tools in a sweaty grip. I cower in near darkness, next to the dying light of my furnace, listening to the wolves howl outside my door. I whimper in despair when my rough tools break once again before I can mine that last necessary pile of cobble; or split that last log into barely hewn wooden planks. My hunger is all consuming; those bloody gobbets of raw pork are looking better by the minute. I use the last dregs of strength to drag myself closer to the furnace. Its light flickers and dies, and the gloom consumes my sanity.
Thank you for this. You have captured the arc of human history. It's a mad, delightful, breath-taking, frightening, exhilarating experience. I can't wait to get back to it.
Jun 8, 2014Found a large seam of coal in a cave. Spent a little too long digging it out and by the time I emerged, a new moon was just coming over the horizon. I used my markers and returned home, encountering no mobs on the way. And just as I closed my door, I heard a tell-tale hiss. I guess a corner of my shelter wasn't as lit up as it should be. No problem, that corner disappeared a couple seconds later. And as I was scrambling to recover/rebuild I was hit by two more creepers: bang then bang. My crafting bench, my furnace, and my chest full of loot, destroyed.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
When I respawned, I was in the middle of a jungle, jungle trees and vines as far as the eye can see. Wow, there sure are a lot of spiders here. And why are they green? . . .

And just the fact that flowerchild won't let someone make a version of his mod that requires forge even tho he won't make it. That's just sad.
I on the other hand feel it is sad that for many people, giving them anything at all seems to come with the assumption that you should then give them absolutely everything they want.
Also rather sad that for some harassing mod authors seems to pass for entertainment.

I know that this chapter with BTW is closing, and another chapter of something totally new is opening.
I wish you luck with the journey, and I am looking forward to it.
After all this time, BTW is the only mod I never really got bored with. (That says a lot in one short explanation.)
Thanks for your countless hours with BTW, your hard work, and most of all a mod that made Minecraft fun again.
In celebration, I went a little too far with the pumpkin pie.
Jan 12, 2014My wife has recently gotten into cake decorating and has done some pretty cool stuff. So for my birthday, I asked her to make a BTW-themed cake. I gave her some basic ideas from the mod and let her come up with a design. For nearly a week I wasn't allowed in the kitchen while she worked feverishly on it.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
The result was way beyond my expectations. I have the most awesome wife ever!
Other than a few toothpicks holding things in place, everything you see is edible.
View of the side grass and dirt texture airbrushing:
The cake itself is buttermilk chocolate with chocolate ganache frosting. The outer layers are rolled fondant.
I thought the partially submerged squid was particularly clever.
The tree is rice crispie treats wrapped in fondant.
Steve's pet wolf is too distracted to help him out of his predicament.
Many thanks to my amazing, talented wife for her hard work. And of course to FlowerChild for a mod that's always full of surprises.

no, it's not your mistake, it's apple's, you didn't know about that "feature" of the OSX default archiver that apple really needs to fixQuote from Webster94
Ahh thank you so much, I was overwriting the net file completely. Such a stupid mistake
