Haha, I think I have an idea about your feelings toward cats. :smile.gif:
Great idea! Cat blocks should definitely be broken instantly, though; the block-breaking animation on a cat might frighten the younger players. :tongue.gif:
Using MSPaint, I've been drawing some minecraft comics. Once I reached the third one, I decided I should make my own thread.
BORING MANDATORY DISCLAIMER! YAY!
This comic is, and always will be, kid-friendly. This means no profanity, no blood/gore, and no innuendo. So if you have a younger brother, sister or friend (or son, daughter, grandchild, nephew, niece, or strangely Minecraft-addicted infant cousin), feel free to share these comics! The larger the audience range, the better!
24: Falling into the Void
25: Taking a break and forgetting to pause at nighttime
26: Getting beaten up by another player upon coming out of your mine with diamonds
27: Having that same player make a sword out of said diamonds and kill you again.
635: He can run, jump and punch at a perfectly consistent rate.
636: He can become almighty with the simple metaverse that is the MOD.
637: He can change what he looks like in MSPaint.
Sounds like a great idea! I've thought about this as well and here are some ideas for it.
Give it furnace fuel to get it going. Give it redstone power ON THE TOP to stop it from moving. Then give it redstone power on left or right to turn it. This could be the crafting recipe:
= Redstone
To give redstone power to the top, you can use this item.
Redstone Rod:
= Redstone
Gives power vertically! So at the bottom of your building you could have:
= Redstone
= Motion Block (with Redstone Pole on top for cutoff system)
"Turn Right" Input
"Turn Left" Input
This allows each of 8 motion blocks under the base to be controlled simultaneously! Of course, for the motion block to actually touch the ground while it's powered on the side, it would have to be 1x1x3.
Then maybe having it float would be a bit expensive? Like, say...
= Motion Block
But you could start with some pretty awesome things like mysterious moving mountains. (Imagine SMP's reaction to a hill that starts to move toward them and then shoots a ton of arrows!)
Or you could make some platforms that you can pilot. But then...
= Minecart
This motion block could go on minecart tracks! Good for if you don't want to have to control it.
= Boat
Goes over water! You could build a giant ship that doesn't break!
-------------------------
Lastly, it'll be annoying to keep all your motion blocks fueled. So here's what I'm proposing: Netherrack as infinite motion block and minecart fuel.. Doesn't fuel plain furnaces.
So what do you think? In addition to flying bases, controllable vehicles that inexplicably fit the theme of Minecraft (unlike cars, etc.), giant boats (maybe the Boatcraft suggestion could use that?), huge minecart platforms, and possibly Indiana Jones-ish fights on a little spinning platform flying toward a pit of lava!
NOTE: Notch is already planning this as a random occurrence; this is an idea for a game mode. Sorry if this is a bit similar to ZombieCraft; the idea here does have several major differences, but I can't take credit for all of it.
Notch intends Zombie Siege to be implemented on certain nights, not as a game mode. I have no problems with this; however, adding it as a game mode would also be a very nice addition. The following are several ideas for the siege mode.
General Idea
The map has "zone walls", and multiple players are put into it. One wall is a giant Nether portal, and there are moderate resources.
[] [] [] [] [] [] [] []
[] [] [] []
[] [] [] [] [] []
[] []
You're given the day to get resources and plan your defense, and the siege begins!
The enemies come in waves, with increasing difficulty.

x2 x4
...
Killing an enemy has a 10% chance of dropping redstone dust, for traps. So there are players getting resources, and players defending.
NOTE: You must kill all enemies in order to advance the wave.
New Blocks / Items
Saddles:
Saddles can now be crafted with 1 leather and 4 string. Saddling creatures will allow you to control them.
You can feed a pig an apple and it runs faster. High-speed cavalry!
Become a spider jockey! You can climb walls while on a spider. Feed it bone meal to turn it to your side, and it will not despawn.
You ride on its head! It no longer explodes, but if you give it an apple, it jumps higher. Eventually it will jump extremely high! Feed it sulfur to tame. Slimes: Ride medium, big or huge slimes. Bounce around and squish your foes, while enjoying nigh invincibility! Feed it 20 of anything to tame (except dirt, cobblestone, sand, gravel or planks)
Flint Ore: As common as . Used for making lots of arrows early.
You get 2 diamonds for every 10 waves you clear. Distribute among your members!
Apple Seeds: Obtain by eating apples. Plant to grow apple trees.
Repair Pessle:
Has 8 uses. When a block is damaged (like when a player punches it), IT STAYS DAMAGED. The pessle repairs it.
Scaffolding:
A tool special for pillar jumping. It's great because it can be destroyed instantly.
Mobs
This mob is much more dangerous. They can break blocks over time, but one can still build a floating base. So the Zombies can actually Pillar Jump with scaffolding to get up to you, like siege ladders. This provides a quick way to get scaffolding; in other modes, it's quite expensive, being so useful and reusable.
They shoot less often, but their arrows fire very far. They cannot break blocks, but they can pillar jump.
Tameable. Slimes: Tameable. Sometimes comes in bosses; 10x10 slimes break blocks and don't hop, they just slide around.
:SSSS:: Tameable. Ghasts: 10 health instead of 5. They fall the the ground before despawning, and their fireballs damage all blocks. They're solid, so if you jump on top of one, it's like a moving platform. Then shoot from atop it, and slash it up until it crashes to the ground with you safely landing. Zombie Pigmen: Breaks blocks extra fast. Pillar jumps.
New Mobs:
Zombie Commander: Wears full iron armor and has 30 hearts. Does half a heart of damage and does not break blocks. However, he rallies other zombies, being followed by a great formation of 10 to 100 zombies. The zombies are immune to knockback and are ruthlessly efficient until the commander is killed.
Zombie Minion. Follows a Zombie Commander. Has only 4 hearts and 1 damage. Fun to hack-and-slash your way through a horde of these guys.
Siege Skeleton: Fires fiery arrows that inflame blocks, then release a small explosion after 1 second.
Skeleton Hunter: Backed up by a pack of wolves that follow it faithfully. When it shoots a player, the wolves attack him/her.
Ground Ghast: Ghasts that sludge around on their tentacles, spewing giant fireballs like catapults.
Trebuchet. Enough said.
Jumping spider. Jumps half as far as you can shoot an arrow. Scary!
Mechanics
Instead of having an IP siege server, there is another button beneath "Single Player" and "Multi Player". Then you can host a game or join a game within your general area.
Death
When you die, you have two options:
[1] Become a mob. You're assigned a random mob to become with each wave. If you die then, you become another mob.
[2] Get another game going. As long as you're MINECRAFTing, you'll be kept up-to-date on the state of the battle. Then you can start a new game while the other one ends.
Things to do in Zombie Siege Traps
Foes can pillar-jump out of pits, and their AI will allow them to go around them. But pitfalls will still kill them, though they are not reusable.
Enemies won't break blocks unless they have to, otherwise they go around them. So don't be afraid to build turrets! Since enemies have a 10% chance of dropping redstone, put a dispenser on a little tower and connect it to a pressure plate in front. Anyone who hits it will have a "turret" shoot them.
Playing the Hero
Scaffold! If you get on top of a ghast, it will be unable to shoot you while enemy skeletons bombard the Ghast. Great way to kill them without a bow. You can also jump on a Ghast by riding a creeper.
If you can get a boss slime saddled, you can tear a path through a troop of zombies without a problem.
Gathering
Set up a chest in the middle of the field and guard it. Find out what people need and, if defenses are sufficient, gather it!
Aggro
Draw monsters away from your friends, you were getting tired of this map anyway.
This is a suggestion, not a mod. Suggestions for the suggestion are by all means permitted, but please read the whole post first.
Thanks for the constructive criticism. I'm not sure how to move this to the suggestions forum; is that something a mod does?
Yes, it doesn't completely fit with the main idea of Minecraft, but it does have similar characteristics with a hardcore player who goes creeper-hunting for those precious 5.5 minutes of night (DISCLAIMER: This isn't me.)

I don't think one needs torches for mining coal, since it's so common and shallowly placed.
Besides, people who can't find coal are likely not far enough in the game to need it.
