What kind of FPS rate would you predict a gtx 970 would fetch?

I have GTX 970. I get 70-110 fps on 1.7.2 version with sonic shaders, but I get 20-45 fps on 1.8 version with sonic shaders. In my opinion, 1.8 shaders is not well optimized. On 1.7.2 version, my GPU usage is usually 90-99%, but when running 1.8 my GPU usage is usually 40-55%. 1.8 barely use half my graphics card's power.

The Beta will be compatible for the latest version of MC. It will only be

    So far it will have:
    -foliage overhaul
    -hardened clay colors
    -stained glass
    -fixed clock/compass
    -coal block
    -podzol blocks for new biome
    -red sand
    -packed ice
-possibly new leaves/logs. Not many photos in my archive for leaves at the moment.

I've just finished pacifying the clay colors to become more "earth-like". I'll try to get as much done as I can. Expect a release Saturday.

I'll post some screens of the new content up tonight as well.

    Nice!

The hardened clay. I may need to work on the vertical tiling, but I'm going to just push forward for the time being.

It looks good so far. Just curious, are the colors of clay textures similar to default? Lot of texture pack makers don't and it is one of my biggest pet peeve. Unlike wool, original hardened clay have reddish color instead of white, so mixing with dyes doesn't give you same color as dyed wool. I used Cyan hardened clay for one of my buildings because of nice gray color and lot of resource packs have it in actual cyan.

The new textures are looking nice so far. The pink flowers are looking pretty. Imagine the whole field filled with them. How are the hardened clay textures going?

i agree with the guy above me use mipmaps and if u got new gpu get all those settings to max for max beautyness :) but now use mipmap 2 instead it wll fix it or u can wait for 1.7 then u dont need optifine for it because i saw somewhere that it will implented can someone confirm it? yes minecraft own wikipedia can (minecraft wiki) and here is the proof if u dont believe me
    • Video Settings
      • Render Distance is now a slider ranging from 2 to 16 chunks
        • The sky is now visible on Short (4 chunks) render distance
      • Max Framerate is now a slider ranging from 10 to 250 fps, then Unlimited
      • Added mipmapping, anisotropic filtering and FSAA (as a shader)
        • Mipmap levels can be set to Off and 1 through 4
        • Anisotropic filtering can be be disabled or set to 2, 4, 8 or 16
        • Post-Processing (shaders) can be toggled[sup]
other new video settings are also nice but that secret setting is awesome because it are shaders :)

Interesting. Anisotropic filtering is great along with mipmapping. Mipmapping smoothens out the graininess, but it makes the textures few blocks radius from you little blurry. AF fixes that. A lot of modern consoles games don't have AF because of the hardware limit.

OMG! this resource pack is the BEST!!!!
256P MAKES MINECRAFT LOOK LIKE A WHOLE NEW GAME!!!!!
    TOTALLY UPVOTED!!!

oh and btw, 128 is actually better. 256 makes my eyes hurt.

Use mipmapping from Optifine mod. Level 2 should do it.

I see people are calling it resource pack, but I'm still calling it texture pack.

One thing annoyed me so much is that so many texture pack makers take hardened clay color names so literal. A lot of texture pack got hardened clay colors different from default colors. For example, default Cyan hardened Clay is grayish, but most texture pack makers make it actual cyan. Do they not know basic color mixing science? The original hardened clay have reddish color, not white. Mixing red and cyan makes it more gray than blue. Even Mojang pointed it out. A lot of people play on the servers and they pick hardened clay for colors. It'll be a lot of confusion if their creations look little different. No wonder some server forced certain texture packs.

A lot of hardened clay colors are wrong. You took the color names very literal which is common problem with texture pack makers. Cyan hardened clay are supposed to be grayish like default texture because mixing cyan and red makes it gray. Mojang intended to be that way. Some people play minecraft servers and they use hardened clay for colors. Can you make an alternate pack with hardened clays that matches default colors.

Some of the hardened clay textures doesn't have the same colors as the default textures. Some of them are very literal. For example, KoP Cyan Hardened clay is actual cyan color, but default one is gray. Mojang intended to be that way because original hardened clay have reddish color and mixing with cyan makes it gray. Basic color mixing science. Keep in mind, lot of people play on servers and they choose certain hardened clay for colors. People would be confused if the creations have different color than intended. It ruins the image of their creations.

I don't think you can, as Chunky only lets you load worlds saved to your saves directory in Minecraft's files

Yes, it can. Just select world and click "browse" then find your world save file. It doesn't have to be in Minecraft save file.

hey I used to be able to do great renders but I stopped for a bit, thing is the other day I decided to do one and realised once it was done that it was just REALLY ! probably because it had the unfinished texture pack i heard chunky renders sometimes, I clicked the button: "load default texture pack" and it replied with: "texture pack cannot be found", naturally I was fricking enraged and downloaded a texture pack to take its place. I downloaded Ravands realistic and click "load texture pack" and chose the zip file of the pack. BUT...it said "cannot find default texture pack"... what the hell, anyone have any ideas how I can restore the good name of the default texture pack, googled everywhere and couldn't find about it :( Help! I Beg You!

    Reinstall Chunky.

If you don't have graphics card then that explains it. I have
    i5 3570K @ 4.5GHz
    8GB RAM
    GTX 670

I get 250-600 fps depending on the scene and that's with 512x texture pack.

I like optifine too, but will it work with 1.6.1?

I did use MC patcher and converted LB Photorealism pack using minecrafts resource converter and it works fine.

You'll have to wait for the mod to update like every other mod.
