Most griefers usually don't want to waste time by mining just to annoy people. So this could prevent most griefers..?
Most griefers can just steal gold. Unless everyone's gold is stashed in some high security vault with active players guarding it, it shouldn't be that hard to grab some gold.
How about only being able to apply the handcuffs if the player is in your landclaim area or something. If someone is causing trouble in your land, simply slap some cuffs on them and mute them so they can't do any more damage. It's a "kinder" alternative to simply executing them. It should be made of a cheaper material though, like wood, so that you aren't wasting valuable material on criminal scum. Maybe they should be stocks instead of handcuffs, and public humilation and egg throwing can be part of the punishment.
Well my idea is that there should be some sort of item that prevents a player from breaking or creating any blocks. The handcuffs are perfect for roleplay and to prevent any griefing on your land.

If the player disconnects the player who has been handcuffed will not be able to be released.
To fix this issue there could be some sort of timer added to the handcuff so they break in a certain time.
