Does Optifine do other things or just restore underground view distance? I just want normal view distance underground, not a bunch of fluff features on top of it.

Optifine allows you to choose what to change, so if the underground view is something you want to change, you can do that only. Of course, though, it has options to boost general fps too.

As you can see by my number of posts, I usually don't respond either, even though I've been playing for close to a year and a half and running a server for a hair over a year. I'ts not him, it IS the game.

My previous postings have been defending against the nay-sayers, with my stating "this is Beta, expect bugs until final release! THis is still more stable than any other Beta I've seen!"

Well, Beta is over; we have peaceful mobs that don't act as they were intended (no regrowing wool, glitching through fencing), NPC's that do nothing except trample their own crops and escape their own villages to wonder infinately, and many others but I'm trying to keep this short. I can live with the sudden armor unbalance that some claim ruin the game as ALL games struggle with balance after release (I think Diablo II is STILL adjusting balance 10 years later :smile.gif: )

A professional never leaves a job unfinished, walking away to start up another project. This game was released "Final" when it's not in a "final" state. I'm even fine with that to a point, but you finsh the project before moving all your people but one over to new ones! WHATEVER it takes, you finish your project.

The OP wasn't asking for new bells and whistles, if he were, on that I would agree with you, he just wants the original content to be finished as is the purpose of a Beta phase.

    Respect...

You, sir, sound as if you think nothing is going to be finished. It has been announced that there will the AI specialist, so the NPCs trampling their crops hopefully won't be in there, and if you kept up with the news at all, you'd know that in the latest snapshot, sheep regrow their wool. If Minecraft were a game made by a professional company, then your complaints would be warranted, but seeing as it still well under development, the criticizing of confirmed features not being here at THIS moment is a bit ridiculous.

Skeletons have been absolutely brutal to me as of late. You can't dodge their projectiles at all, making damage pretty much impossible to avoid. Armor is the logical solution to the problem.

They are programmed to shoot as soon as they spot you. I tested it out in Creative. I spawned a skeleton, and waited until its back was turned before punching it. Before it had even turned around, an arrow had been fired right in my direction.

It would be a lot more simple to just allow a water bottle to restore hunger. That way, there is no need for a bar, and if you feel you need to take a drink every now and then, you are free to do so.

    Ughhh.

I wish posts werent made about finding caves. We have all found those cool looking Ravines and whatnot, But
these are just wastes of time.

Then don't waste your time coming in here to whine about it.

As for the caves, that is pretty cool. Any chance for a seed and some coords?

No one here is being creative. While not quite griefing, you could do this to greatly annoy someone:

    1. Find someone's large stash of diamonds.
    2. Proceed to turn all of their diamonds into diamond hoes.
    3. Put a sign in the area that says, "Are a pimp? You have all these hoes up in here."

I personally don't think Jeb is used to announcing things like Notch was. Notch pretty much always had a rundown of the situation, while Jeb will just say odd things here and there. Jeb did say though that he was working on mod API and other things at the moment. He's basically polishing features at the moment. Just wait for the AI specialist and a new year, and things will once again flow in.

    Just a suggestion too:

Judging by your join date, you've been playing for over a year, if not longer. I assume you've pretty much done everything possible in the game. If you want, there are plenty of mods as others have said, but if you don't want those, try an adventure map, or a different play style. Be creative with it, but I'm feeling that the move with the armor was well worth it. Diamonds are harder to find now anyway, so the new armor system makes the work worth it. It also makes PvP last longer, and not just "click, click, click" with a wooden sword.

I fail to understand how a slight change in armor completely destroys the game for you. Honestly, it sounds as if Minecraft is your whole life, and you don't want any sort of change. The armor reduction was changed, only to make it last longer, to keep PvP more interesting, and to make diamond armor a whole lot more valuable than iron. If you find it gamebreaking, just find some mods that deal with it. Your idea for the structure of the game is ridiculous, and I suggest that learn to be a bit more constructive.

Well, you said you can't open doors in enemy territory. If you don't care about looks, you could make a wooden door fence. Put pressure plates on the inside, so if a member leaves a door open by mistake, it will close automatically. That could be a simple defense. You could also add a lava wall like this:

    :huh.gif: = enemy
    :Lava: = lava
    :bookshelf: = door

    :Lava:
    :Lava:
    :Lava:

    :bookshelf:

Edit: I realize how horrible that depiction is. Basically, you set up a lava fall from the top of the map, or high enough that the enemy would die or be extremely weak when they teleport over. You could then add doors underneath it, blocking access to it. The only question I have is if they could mine under it.

Woohooo, cant wait till its release

Well, keep in mind it hasn't been even announced officially yet, but judging from Spark's Twitter, and their liberal use of "far, far away," the word "front," and other Star Wars or Battlefront words, even that is good evidence of itself it is in development.

posted a message on Star Wars Battlefront 3
Let me just start this off with a note: I'll update this OP, clean it up, and add a bit more info as it comes. Also, let me know if any of the videos don't work, I will fix them. (It is currently fairly late, and my brain is starting to overload with info. Please just be patient.)

I'm not sure how many of you are Star Wars fans, or how many liked the Star Wars Battlefront series. If you are, I'm sure you've heard rumors of Star Wars Battlefront 3. I'm here (with a bit of proof) to show you why I think it is still being developed. Any loose ends I leave will probably be explained in some of the videos, so its worth checking them out.

    First, I show you this:

This is some gameplay footage of Star Wars Battlefront 3 from Free Radical.

Well, that video shows that the game was being developed as late as 2008. The actual time span of development easily goes further before that.

    And now:

Those three videos are from a Youtuber named TuggieGameReviews. These three videos contain a wealth of information about possible production of the game. I suggest you take a look at them.

Now that I've gotten most of the videos, I'll just move straight on to some facts (links coming very soon.)

    1. Lucas Arts recently signed on to the U3 engine, and within a short time, Spark Unlimited did too.

    2. Reading through Spark Unlimited's job listings on their website, they are "in FULL PRODUCTION of a high-profile, popular game property for a major publishing partner. With the public disclosure expected sometime in 2012, we are looking for innovative and creative professionals to bring to life a Triple-A game for an awaiting, highly critical audience." That quote goes on to mention the U3 engine.

    3. They are currently looking to hire positions for a science-fiction game.

    4. Lucas Arts has recently renewed their website domain for www.starwarsbattlefront3.com. Typing it in takes you directly right to starwars.com as of this moment.

    Links of interest:

    Spark Unlimited Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/sparkunlimited

Star Wars Battlefront 3 Fan Site: http://www.battlefront3.net/

Edit: Videos should be fixed now.

posted a message on How do you feel now that Notch is not lead designer of Minecraft anymore?
I think it's honestly for the better. Notch has seemed lately like he has done less in Minecraft's development then in the past, just with the whole being the figurative leader of Mojang. Jeb is use to doing some of the crunch work more, so I think he'll be able to hammer out the bugs easier and still add in new features. It is glad to see Notch will still overlook things a bit though.
